A good thorough review of the bike. Harley has stepped up their game since 2014. The problems with the leaks don’t appear to be an issue on the Milwaukee 8 engines. They are reliable and powerful engines that can get that bike down the road in an instant. I have ran across water pump failures around 18,000 miles but my advice there is if you bought your bike new, it’s covered for two years so run the hell out of it and have Harley cover the repair. It’s true Harley does have a huge dealership network so finding help is not a problem. Again, the M8s have come a long way and in my experience they are reliable engines. Thanks for posting.

I know this video is several years old but I figured I'd leave a comment for viewers who've watched at a later date. The issue of buffeting isn't directly related to(caused by) the size and shape of the wind screen, the wind screen's main function is to reduce and move air pressure up or around the rider, the turbulence of air is caused by the air coming up from under the fairing and fuel tank then mixing with the air coming from above the wind screen causing the turbulence or buffeting. While it's important to use a properly sized wind screen for one's particular height, it won't eliminate buffeting, you need to reduce or eliminate the air coming up from under the fairing and fuel tank. I would recommend a couple of different remedies, 1: Harley and the aftermarket offer a "triple tree air baffle" designed to move air coming from under the fairing and redirecting the air to flow over the cylinder heads which "might" help with buffeting. 2: Fuel tank "wings" attached to the fuel tank mounts at the front of the frame, designed to perform basically the same function as the "air baffle". 3: Fork mounted wind deflectors, while the aesthetics are somewhat controversial, it is by far the most effective means of reducing or eliminating the buffeting. If one doesn't like how the fork mounted wind deflectors look, I'd recommend trying either one or both of the the first two methods to see if you get results. I hope this helps. Thats a good honest review man. I have the identical bike. Just bought it with 65,000 mi. or 100,000 kms. nicely broke in, everything works. I traded in my 01 kawi- Vulcan 1500. This Harley is a major improvement. I do my own service on it, much easier than the Vulcan. Access to the filters, drain plugs and oil level inspection is awesome. I've had the seat off, battery change, all nice and easy. I feel if I have to drive a GoldWing I may as well drive a car. Harley has the sound and feel of riding a real motor bike. Sport need not apply, this is a cruiser. A 30 year mechanic was working on a Goldwing. Said it was the last time he ever wanted to see one. Difference was about a 1,000 moving parts compared to harley's 50 moving parts. Complicated. Personal preference is what it is. You must find Happy. That's the place to be. Cheers ! PS. My Vulcan being liquid cooled felt very hot to ride also. Burnt my legs on the pipes often. Lots of heat came off the motor. Injectors were very ticky. That was annoying. Ping and knock on acceleration. Time for a change.

nice review Craig, cruise moved to left with rushmore, better on left, as for kill, always been on right, all of us Harley riders are used to it there. If you use the cruise control a lot you will get used to it and will like it there better , one switch for all funtions

Great Video. Good Comparison. I recently added a 2016 UL to my stable. Also have a 2016 XL1200C Sportster. The last UL i had was a 2012. and in between I've had a 18 Can Am F3 Spyder and a 18 Burgman 650 which I have since sold both. I chose the 16 UL because I wanted the last year of the 103 mainly because of the sound and the thump...thump. I am open minded and I appreciate the comparisons but with that being said, for me, I had already done my research on the Goldwing and was only looking for information on the Rushmore Ultra Limited but I admit the comparisons could be helpful to someone. Keep up he good work!

Thanks for the honest review, I’m considering trading my gl1800 for a 14 ultra limited as well. I can’t deny the gold wing is a great bike that I have had zero problems with. However I also can’t deny the allure of having a Harley just for the sound, style and with my group of riders I’m the only gold Wing which makes me the odd duck so now that it has been a few years looking back overall was it a trade up or down for you?.

From my experience after riding for 40 years and had multiple motorcycles goldwing bmw suzuki yamaha HD . Now I ride a ultra limited 2016 with over 60 k on it and had not 1 problem with the bike I had the extended warranty and never used it. I don't work for harleyDavidson was not paid from anyone .

Just from experience anytime I have my wife as a passenger I install the largest windshield on the market looking though it you ajust to it. Makes my wife happy and you know what they say.

You sound like an unpleased customer. For what I have read the Rushmore project was made based on what Harley riders thought. It's obvious that you're partial to Honda. Stick with them. As for spending five hours washing your beautiful bike, what are you using? Q-tips.
