2014 Skoda Octavia estate car review

If you all follow us taxi drivers, you wont go far wrong. Octavia and Superb are fabulous strong workhorses.I'm currently driving a Superb with 211k on the clock, same engine same gear box. Clutch changed at 100k. Crazy or what???Brilliant. Shame they are not importing the hybrid versions into the UK next year.

I bought the same colour, but in sedan. I must say, it's impressed me so far. The 1.4 turbo petrol + manual transmission is a peppy combo.

Can anyone who's had a Skoda long term comment on reliability and service costs over its lifetime compared to other category contenders like the Mazda 6 or Ford Mondeo estates?

I suppose the camera angle might come in to play here, but, the back seats on My Octavia 2015 lie almost completely flat.

Tomas Nordling The thing that most people don't know is that you can fold down the seat bases to the floor. That will make them lie completely flat.

ThinkCleverAndSmart Not sure if that is possible in my car (there does not seem to be any mechanism to fold the seats). I better check it out.

Tomas Nordling Yeah, we can do it and we have the older model 2013. Just lift the seat bottoms up and put them on the floor. Let me know if you have it in your car. Maybe they stopped having that feature in newer cars?

ThinkCleverAndSmart I tried it again and there is absolutely no way to fold the seat base on the back seat. Could it be because I have a transmission tunnel for the 4x4 Haldex drive, which eats upp floor space, and therefor Skoda has removed the folding backseat base? Also, the Skoda Octavia A7 owner's manual (which covers both the front-wheel drive and the 4x4 version of the car), does not have any description for folding the backseat base.

Tomas Nordling Hmm. That's interesting. It can indeed be because of the four wheel drive which I would prefer, but it seems weird that you can't do so. We will get our new car within a week, Skoda octavia combi 2016 model, so I can take a look at that. It has only front wheel drive so I will know if it has to do with four wheel drive, or if they just removed the function.
