Just bought the Tundra TRD Off Road Limited last Saturday. I cannot express how pleased I am with this truck. My uncle had the GMC Sierra and the Tundra is a more capable truck all around. Better at towing and more intelligent design. Plus, the TRD dual exhaust sounds soooo sweet! If you are looking for a truck, you owe it to yourself to at least test drive a Tundra.

Watching this in late 2021 as the new 2022 Tundras hit the lots. I think I'll be sticking with my tried and true 2020 Tundra for a while. Great review Alex. 🇺🇸

Alex, just wanted to let you know that your reviews are very informative and a pleasure to watch. I do watch many, many car review channels and yours is one of my favorites. Keep up the great work!

I don't believe the others towing numbers, Toyota doesn't shy away from numbers. Too bad the others do
@AAutoBuyersGuide11 жыл бұрын
It depends greatly on which trims you compare. The base Tundra is narrower, taller and longer than some of the American trucks but the larger cab varieties are on the whole narrower, taller in height and shorter in length than the others.

You're in luck, we will be driving one next week and hope to have the video up in 2 weeks tops.

Excellent review. I will be buying the Tundra Limited soon!

I just bought mine a couple days ago. I was sold on an F150 then a Ram and once I did a lot of research and about 4 test drives with all of them I couldn't pass up the Tundra limited. I love it! You will too.
@AAutoBuyersGuide11 жыл бұрын
I will have to ask Toyota for clarification on that. The documentation I had from this event is ambiguous but leads me to think that it may be the "in-between" form known as electro-hydraulic where they replace the belt driven pump with an electric pump but retain the hydraulic rack. I'll Try to get back to you soon.

That cab is huge. Fantastic truck.

It is possible that Toyota made a mid-cycle change. We were driving a limited that day and it had LEDs, however it was also a pre-production model. I would go with what Toyota says at this moment as far as feature availability.
@AAutoBuyersGuide11 жыл бұрын
We try to where we can, this was a truck provided at a launch event and Toyota didn't have any off road courses to try. They did have a trailer but they didn't know how much it weighed so I discounted that portion and didn't comment.
@AAutoBuyersGuide11 жыл бұрын
I agree to a limited extent, however I have a hard time believing 50%+ inflations on the numbers. The big deal in this segment is the 2014 RAM V6 with the 8-speed auto which is an incredible tow vehicle (I've towed 7,500lbs with it) and the RAM 1500 diesel which will tow almost as much as Toyota's V8s. I have to say that my towing preference would be the diesel and 8-speed over the Toyota V8 and 6 speed.
@30smsuperstrat2 жыл бұрын
The cost of modern eco diesels in maintenance and false inflation of diesel fuel over gasoline make the diesels cost of ownership outrageous. Upon further review, the man step in the F150 looked horrible after a few years.

Great Review! This is a fully thorough review and If I still sold Toyotas, I would use this video's key point in reference to the tundra too!
@crackaddict44411 жыл бұрын
But the reason why the tow numbers are lower is because the other makes don't use the new SAE tow ratings. I'm willing to bet they don't use them because they inflate their numbers.

Very detailed review and one of the best for the 2014 Tundra. Looking to buy one and this review helped. I could not find any info on the suspension and you answered it right away. Great side note on why the 1794 edition. I also like how you mentioned the changes from the previous version. Since I own a 2008 limited, I was curios if the changes where just cosmetic. Thx.

Hi Alex, I seen many of your videos over the years. I found you are very detail and eloquent, touching very important topics that other reviewers just to talk about. Thanks for your reporting style it speaks to me. If you are not shy about it, what is your profession??? Thanks for the video of the Ford F150 Platinum as well.

Alex - Very well done. 4th review of yours I have seen, and like the others, this one is full of good data, well presented, with nice walk around/demo footage. Do you know about planned diesel engines for the Tundra?
@AAutoBuyersGuide10 жыл бұрын
While some car companies will pass around their own rumors, Toyota is very tight lipped so we really don't know if there are any diesel plans for America. At this point Toyota seems very resistant to turbos and diesels on our shores.

Traded my 05 f250 4x4 ext cab 5.4 v8 2 1/2 lift with 35 inch tires for a 2014 tundra crew cab and it gets between 10-13 mpg around town. My ford got 10 mpg around town! My tundra is thirsty. Would hate to see the mpg if I lift my tundra!

I really do like ur reviews , v good job .. I wish if u could do some actual off road or towing capacity tests to know which of these pick ups scores best
@nickpaulson916811 жыл бұрын
Question: You stated that the Tundra was less than the american standard for towing capacity? What were you comparing it too? I am confused, on what it was compared to, the STD or other trucks. If you can expand on that, I would be greatfull. Thanks!

When are we getting an updated review on the Tundra which include towing and off road testing? Thx

I like the interior upgrade. I'm not a fan of the my grill is bigger then yours going on with all the trucks though. I think the grill on this new Tundra looks cartoonish just like the massive grill on the new Chevy trucks. They make the hood so high you can't see over the front of the truck very easy, something hampers offroading.

You said the steering is numb because it has electric steering? I just purchased the limited this weekend and my salesman told me Tundra is still using hydronic steering, just tuned differently from my 2012 I just traded in. Can you explain ?

I just wish I hadn't seen all of the complaints about the 2013 and 2014 Rams' mechanical and electrical malfunctions. Now, I can't unsee them, and it's a shame because I very much agree with you on the Ram interior and diesel engine.

Interior really looks like a mix of a RAM and F-150, with the leg room of a Chevy. I think they did a good job making the truck look big, but I'd still never buy one. There's nothing like Ford and GM.

Sat in a 2018 silverado crew cab LT..... interior was cheap s hell compared to the platinum crewmax 4x4..... dont even have ac in the rear..... only better thing in chevy was the 8 inch screen..... other than that it is nowhere near worth its 52k msrp. Tundra is huge inside. Can fit 3 grown men in the rear and a 5.7L V8. The 5.3 in the sialverado..... just traded in my 2010 escalde fot the Toyota. Couldn't be happier

@dwightstewart71818 жыл бұрын
+Htown7 Not everybody. After years of Ford and Chevy trucks or vans, I was pretty happy with my previous Toyota Tacoma. But, being the smallest truck I've owned, I needed more. Traded it in for a 2016 Tundra Limited 4x4 CrewMax for the extra towing capacity. After a few minor tweaks and a switch to more aggressive all-terrain tires, there's hardly anything about this truck I don't like. While nothing truly outstanding, Toyota got everything, the whole package, just right. Comfortable interior, pleasure to drive, handles well off-road, tows my new 28-ft travel trailer comfortably, and looks good in the color (sunset bronze) selected.
