Watch a full tutorial as a 2020 Volkswagen Passat will have a 12" Rockford Fosgate subwoofer and amplifier installed. We will be using the stock radio and integrating it with a line-out converter providing signal to the amplifier without use of an aftermarket radio.

Are the rear speaker wire colors the same for a 2021 Jetta? I dont want to risk breaking any clips at the dash for a converter so id rather use rear speaker wires to tap

Okay so I did everything just the speaker wires were different colors all were correct except the passenger side purple wire. Mine was purple and white. After I connected it I turned everything on and the sub just had a beep sound

Hey bro. Where do you put power cable to your line output converter? Can I just use power from amp to connect to line output converter and then transfer it to amp so it has the power ?

No you can’t do that though he did. 🤷‍♂️ You need a fuse beside the amp to protect the line converter cable. 5A would be fine.

You can tap into the rear speakers as long as your trim level provides a full range signal to your rear speakers (like ours did).

For the love of God do not tap into random wires. The last thing you want to do is tap into airbag wires

I have a 2021 Passat and am starting to design my stereo upgrade. I can not find a wiring diagram anywhere. Do you have a link to the factory radio (base radio, not fender upgrade) wiring diagram? my first step will be adding a LOC/DSP, amp, and front mids & tweets.

I believe to the remote terminal on the amplifier. Sound signal tells the converter to turn on the amp via the remote wire.

Those wire diagrams are for VW Passat which already has a sound system like Fender. If your car doesn't have Fender, then you need wiring diagrams No 19/3 and 19/4. Left rear bass speaker cable colors are brown/white(-) and red/white(+) and the right rear bass speaker cable color are brown/lilac(-) and red/lilac(+). Note: This is for VW Passat with cell phone/telephone prep. I hope this also helps.

Correct. There will be other bolts accessible in the trunk to use. Always are. No need to drill any new holes. He also said he used a nut and bolt but didn’t say anything about going under the car to attach the bolt. 🤷‍♂️

@@johnacarnduff The gas tank is mostly everywhere under the rear seat and a little on the trunk. I don't think he put down the tank just for a bolt.

It will work for a B8 model. B8 first released in 2014 but maybe the was only in Europe.

Sounds like they tapped the ECM with a positive battery cable during install. If you are careless while connecting a fuse block under the hood it’s easy to do. Happens more often than you would expect. Look at the cars computer for any discoloration or marks.

@@andreajohnson7431 Sorry I just saw this question, the ECM is around $800 plus programming at the dealership. Make sure to have it properly diagnosed first. Should be about an hour of labor, $100-$150 is average at a VW dealership.

Using 1 side will result in lower volume level, as well as 1 side of bass. Mono combines left and right channels into 1 so you get the full dimension of bass. I have personally tested this and 2 channels into a mono amp is the better option.
