Steve we totally speak the same language. This car looks just about perfect. The interior looks beautiful and that blue paint is to die for. If I could have three cars they would be: this BMW, Mercedes s65 biturbo and that Jag you tested in the Angeles National forest - the one I sat in with you. Those three vehicles in the stable would be perfect motoring.

A friend landed me this car for a day. I can not argue with you, this car is very comfortable for long distances and very quite. But it demands to be driven very very fast to enjoy it. I, however, have put my heart in the GLE63 amg. I guess, it is a Mercedes with the right genes for AMG. Thanks for a informative review.

Love these reviews. Think I might go for the understated elegance of the Range Rover Sport RS but that's a personal preference. Can't argue with your general conclusions.

Beautiful vehicle. Only thing missing. ..is a MANUAL TRANSMISSION! A "M vehicle" really isn't a "M Vehicle" without a "M"anual transmission. Yes automated transmissions are faster (by tenths of seconds)...yes automated transmissions are "smoother" but an automated transmission can never emulate the same level of fun, interaction and skill the so called "dated" manual transmission provides. Sadly these are the times we live in...it's more about "looking" the part than "being" the part. Convenience over credibility eh.

TestDriveNow.com featuring Auto Critic Steve Hammes The reason I think BMW makes the X6 and the X4 is that buyers don't want just another crossover or SAV, the name of BMW calls their SUVs. Mercedes and Audi don't make luxury Sport Activity Coupes. Wanna be exclusive? Try an X4 or X6. (but you don't have the cargo capacity of the X3 or X5). However, the X6 does have pretty good cargo capability.

Torrey B And depending on who you are, the price and the gas mileage. But of course, that's all relative. The X6 M (along with the MB E63 AMG Wagon) has been and continues to be everything I would want if I could have only 1 vehicle.

Like AF A said, it's not exactly the case, my mom bought a 2011 BMW 335is convertible, she paid $70k for the car; guess what, after just 2 weeks of having it, the ECU shut down; the BMW dealer then told her that she was going to have to wait for 2 weeks for the ECU to be shipped from Germany but she also have to pay nearly $2000 for service! The car was brand new with less than 1000 miles. With the 5 years that my mom owned the car, she took it to the dealer twice a year and each time she took it in they always charged her $1-$2k, so yea, an expensive German car is totally reliable and the dealer is so friendly that they WON'T charge you a penny.

+Kingsun Cheung what are you talking about? If you mother bought the car new with less than 1000 miles and the ECU did shut down, than it would be replaced under warranty at no charge to her. For the 2 weeks, the dealer would give her loaner, yeah it sucks, but BMW would take care of it. If she owned the car for 5 years, for first 4 years, she would pay ZERO dollars for maintenance or any repairs, because BMW has 4 yrs/50 k miles warranty and maintenance included, even brake pads, rotors or windshield wipers are included. Get lost.
