Steve. Thanks as always. You're on a roll, having reviewed the Hellcat and Chevy SS so close to one another! I'd love that chance (especially since a recent Tesla test drive knocked it off my wish-list). There's a huge part of me that likes the sleeper aspect of the SS, and makes me think I'd go that way UNLESS driving (or just hearing) the Hellcat made it utterly irresistible regardless of all other rational criteria. I had a black on black rental-spec Charger for about a month and wanted to buy it. My wife had to hit me on the snout with a rolled-up newspaper. I think I'd better stay away from the Hellcat, lest I sell my house and buy it on the spot. If that happens, can I stay with you ;).

Jeez.. Pretty hard to find genuine car guys on here. Seems to be nothing but fanboys, haters and mostly people with no actual car experience. All cars have their pros and cons. Real car guys know that and can easily discuss them. Plus there are so many other factors at play. Grow up and be real everyone.
@robertbrody40329 жыл бұрын
+Shannon Wilson Agreed. I just traded my 2015 SRT 392 in for a Hellcat Charger, but I've driven the GT500, Vette and a good amount of fast machinery. They are all pretty awesome fun. A Hellcat is almost silly fun yet it's an "almost" logical family car when needed. On the highway it can run with most dedicated two seat sports cars and it handles better than it has a right to. Dodge/SRT built something special and it's making a LOT of enthusiasts happy, but the haters can't handle it at all. A comfortable car that seats 5, but can pass 200 MPH and do sub 11 sec 1/4 miles is just amazing.

@theelusive2.89 жыл бұрын
T John The fuel mileage is worse on the Hellcat than the R/T.
@tjohn88409 жыл бұрын
adogg619 actually, no its not. At least not where i live and the driving conditions we deal with. I average roughly 17 mpg on my r/t. Others with hellcats that live in my city average the same, if not a little better.
@theelusive2.89 жыл бұрын
T John I doubt there's many people in your city that own hellcats. Go to fueleconomy.gov and you will see the R/T got 16 city 19 combined and 25 highway. The Hellcat got 13 city 16 combined 22 highway. Of course all those numbers are optimistic and don't reflect real world driving conditions Plus gasoline engines fall short of their EPA ratings while diesel engines are the ones that meet and exceed their ratings.
@tjohn88409 жыл бұрын
adogg619 not sure where you live, but i live in a major city and I'm also part of a dodge car club, so i know there are lots of people that own Hellcats in my city. I've personally seen 1 charger and over 10 challenger Hellcats, and that's just what I've seen. There's a lot more. Sure, the official numbers are a little lower than the r/t. I'm comparing my person environment to others with Hellcats in my city. They are definitely averaging what I'm averaging now.

I live in Indianapolis, and the auto show happens between Christmas and New Year's. At the Chrysler display, many people asked, "Where the hell's the Hellcat?" It's THAT exclusive, and both Charger and Challenger variants are as easy to find as Nissan GT-Rs. They don't make many of them, and Dodge sold out of all the Hellcats. Just like Viper, I would need a helmet to drive the Hellcat. Pun intended, but that review of the Charger Hellcat is hella good. And the lucky owners can keep on dancing.

Nice review and the color choices were nice, although I would have chosen the Black Laguna Luxe interior. Hit all the hi-lites about the fact that the Hellcat is not a race/track car, and thus can't be understood "by the numbers." The Hellcat, ESPECIALLY the Charger, is the quintessential American sedan MUSCLE CAR, and its likes won't be seen EVER again once it's gone. NO, it's not a "one car solution" for a family man, but then again, who in the hell wants to be a family man in search of a "one car solution" in the FIRST place?

I here that Dodge stopped making the Dodge charger and the challenger 707hp the first hellcats have the 707 but they stopped production they say cause to many people want them but I just think it's cause I can buy the fastest car out of the showrooms under 50k or around that plus the video's of the hellcat basically chewing up police car's an spitting them out so unless u got the very first hellcats that first came out ur getting well under 700hp
@blafferty719 жыл бұрын
Steve Irish Where exactly are you getting your information? Also, punctuation is very important.
@stevemack389sm9 жыл бұрын
Fuck punctuation and every hellcat has 707hp an can be dialed down to 500hp in valet parking read up or just watch the video on the car the challenger also

@blafferty719 жыл бұрын
Steve Irish They haven't stopped making them. Go to hellcat.org and YOU read up on them. Search the forums for posts by ResumeSpeed. He works at the Brampton plant and has any and all information you can possibly imagine...he has actual facts. Not ones you may have "heard".
@AkronKid3309 жыл бұрын
That 707hp is really like 620hp to the wheels. This thing weighs a ton too so a lot of that power is for nothing. I would still drive it though cuz it's a nice car. You are better off getting the new roush or gt350 that would put this car in the dust.
@dobbins25509 жыл бұрын
Mike Gauer Most make 650+ to the wheels. It's not for nothing because that kind of power gets this car into the 10.80s with a single modification, DRs. Also, comparing this to a sports car is invalid on it's face. The GT350R is simply a very different car that will not beat this car in a straight line, which is where most people experience a car, street racing. The GT350R cannot carry 5 adults or go 204MPH. This is in a different class. People don't cross shop a four door Hellcat and a two door sports car. I would ideally have both. Can you take your family to dinner in a GT350?

I would rather crash in this then any other peace of shit out in the street. its built heavy for a reason!
@wk2srt2869 жыл бұрын
The new GT350 is a very nice ride but it's not touching a hellcat, the only reason why I'm considering a GT350 is because as of right now is almost imposible to buy a hellcat unless you're willing to part with 90k , dealers are selling them to the highest bidder, imo can't go wrong with either one but My choice was always a hellcat.
@wk2srt2869 жыл бұрын
BTW hellcats make more than the advertised 707hp crank hp, in fact for about $8500 there's a few mods available that would get you to 1000hp , so there's no way a GT350 is beating a hellcat
@MagicMike879 жыл бұрын
I bet it isn't faster than ordinary m5 in rolling start...
@R700Demon9 жыл бұрын
Mickey Mike Lol, i doubt that. Hellcat's main problem is not getting traction, hence why with DR's the Charger does a 2.8 sec 0-60, so i don't think having the two in a rolling start would really change much. M5 is also over $20,000 more expensive than a hellcat, so..

A mercades e63 or m5 is quicker than the charger and much better handling. Funny because both make about 500hp and are faster than a 707hp car. That number is just a marketing ploy

Billy Sou Good link. Too bad the article says an "unspecified price hike" is coming for the 2016 models.

Christopher .WalkenPNW That is what I am afraid of. I was planning on purchasing a 2016, but with this unknown price increase, I am not sure about that anymore. Sigh.

the car looks cheap and old just by looking at that interior. from the seats and the dash.. not worth it.
@calvinrovinescu61669 жыл бұрын
Looks nicer than the overdone Japanese and Korean dashboards and the German dashboards from the 90s. The seats are very comfortable.
