I love my first Run 2015 Scout . Best. Motorcycle I had ever ridden
@user-us1hx2cx3j8 жыл бұрын
I have a 2015 Indian Scout with 18,000 km on it and it has developed a really annoying coolant leak from the thermostat flange. I have read blogs from other owners complaining about this too. The flange is metal one side and plastic the other with only two bolts holding it together. The engineering design department at Indian needs to remedy this by adding a gasket and /or adding a few more bolts on the flange to make sure it sits flush. Apart from that my Indian Scout has been perfect and is a great bike which I tour long distance on in the US and Canada. It is an under rated one up tourer in my opinion. One further comment though - I have the tallest windshield and with me at 5'9" it is NOT tall enough for me. It is also flimsy. The old detachable HD windscreen from my previous bike was superior. Remember the Indian windscreen was an EXPENSIVE option. With hindsight I ought to have bought after market. But all in all a 9 out of 10 bike.

Would a person that's 5.6" be comfortable on this bike? Thanks
@ravenschmidt14968 жыл бұрын
Definitely. The seating is pretty low, but at 6' I was still very comfortable. At your height, you'll have no problems.
@davidsimms93728 жыл бұрын
Alex Betancourt they have three different seats you can choose from. I am 6'4 so I went with the extended seat but they have another seat that actually moves you closer to the bars. Thier line of scouts are super versatile and I enjoy that immensely since my wife will hop in and ride, all we do is switch out the seat and throw on the quick detach windshield.

I don't understand cruisers - how do you get so little power and torque out of such a large engine?
@nominalvelocity9 жыл бұрын
+Chris Doms It's right in line power and torque wise with any number of modern adventure / touring bikes in the 1100-1200cc category. The difference is in what RPM the torque comes, cruisers usually peak at 2200-3500k, super sports peak in the 8500+ range. You don't have to rev the bollocks off of a cruiser to get it moving, which makes it more friendly on the highway, especially for long trips. In traffic, you ride with torque and cruisers thump it out at a friendly, low RPM.
@WheatMillington9 жыл бұрын
My Speed Triple makes 82lb/ft of torque, with a basically flat torque curve that peaks at 6,800rpm and has 90% of available torque by 3,500rpm. That's a 1050cc motor. The Indian makes 72lb/ft with an equally flat curve that peaks at 5,900rpm, from a 1,133cc engine. The cruiser, as always, is desperately outclassed in power AND torque.
@nominalvelocity9 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I guess you figured out cruisers aren't descended from race bikes, and don't have the benefit of millions of dollars of race related development, huh? Next, you're going to tell us that a cruiser is too heavy to be a sport bike, and you'll never understand why someone would want something that weighs so much. I guess it all boils down to OMG HOW DARE YOU FOR LIKING SOMETHING I DON'T AND I'll NEVER TRY IT OUT BECAUSE NUMBERS. Yeah, whatever. See, cruisers are built for comfort, not for speed. Like a woman with the same qualities, each has their benefits, and there are times in life where one excels at certain activities vs the other. The difference is, it's a lot less expensive to keep two bikes under the same roof.
@WheatMillington9 жыл бұрын
Wow you extrapolated a lot from what I said. I simply asked how so little power can be produced from such huge engines.
@jameshalliday5059 жыл бұрын
+Chris Doms It's because they don't rev very high that's all. They produce a lot of power in relative terms for the revs they do make, hence why the torque figure is so high.

£1200 for saddlebags, can't see many of those selling!!
@jezatkinson72439 жыл бұрын
Surely if the tyres are that bad then they are "not fit for purpose" so dealer should replace them as new. I dispatched in London on a GT250 in '76. I asked the firm to change the tyres as soon as I saw them. It took me just one day to drop the bike on an oily puddle . Then they changed the tyres....
@TR5T9 жыл бұрын
+Jez Atkinson I had the original 65 X6 Hustler and those tyres back then were horrible, we've come a long way but people know that Kendas are not good tyres, can't say why Indian would do that.

I wish they put cruise control on the Scout. Is it ride-by-wire, like the big ones? There's no excuse for not having cruise on a ride-by-wire bike. All you need is a plastic switch.

1200 quid for the saddlebags? Holy ripoff, Batman! That's like 2, 2.2 grand US. I could buy another whole bike for that! And not a complete POS either. I saw a Bonnie T100 for $2500 the other day, I'd much rather have that than a couple fancy leather covered hard bags. How much did the seat cost, $kidney?
@motorcyclenewsdotcom9 жыл бұрын
+XH1927 At today's rate of exchange £1240 is $1880. In the USA the bags (and fitting kit) are listed as $1049. The extended reach leather seat is $249.99.

@XH19278 жыл бұрын
Mark Wright Upon re-reading that I can see how you might take offense, but I didn't mean to call the Scout a POS directly or indirectly, I was just emphasizing my point about the ridiculous price of the hard bags. I thought if I just said, "I can get a whole other bike for what they charge for bags!", someone would counter with "yeah, sure, if it were a ragged out junker", so I add the "not a complete POS" comment and my example of the used Triumph. This was just to further illustrate that legitimately nice bikes were available at prices very close to what Indian was charging UK customers for just their fancy saddlebags. Heck, a couple months after that comment was posted, I bought a nearly mint condition 2004 Yamaha R6 with clean title for $1000 US, less than even the US list price for those bags. Regardless, no comparison in quality, bike-to-bike, was intended. I actually think Indian is making really nice bikes, and if I was in the cruiser market they'd be close to the top of the list. However, I'd definitely be buying my accessories in the aftermarket unless their prices have changed drastically in the year since I left that original comment!
@user-us1hx2cx3j8 жыл бұрын
Understood. I actually agree with you. I misunderstood what you were saying - so apologies for that from me. I'd add that we are all victims of marketing - HD does it in spades, as does Indian (Polaris) as does Triumph. Dealer accessories tend to be a rip off - but Indian in the UK sounds absolutely extortionate for sure. A true rip off. But yeh my point again was just "All bikes are sacred" and those who stick with it will tend to go through plenty of different brands. And for those who denigrate Japanese bikes the joke is that they are the most reliable of all......so yeh WTF as they say.

One side of me wants to get the scout asap, but the other half wants to wait for the next year improvements. The only thing that didn't liked was the plastic in the turn signals, I know they are good quality but would had preferred a little chrome right there.
