I have test driven RCFs several times including the track editor in the Lexus performance school event. Drove it back to back in a auto cross with the LC500 and the IS500. Definitely, feels the most stiffest and most buttoned down of the three with the least amount of float. Very hunkered down and tall happy. The LC500 feels very big, clumsy and the 4400 lbs weight with the soft suspension. We also had a lot of overheating issues with the LC500. The IS500 rolls way too much and drags the front wheels. Way too much understeer to push into oversteer. RCF felt the most nimble, playful and wanted to rotate and kick the tail out at every turn. The chassis felt very stiff and buttoned down. Certainly, I would say it is the most track oriented of the 2UR cars.

Being an RCF with CF/TVD package (option) and spent a hefty amount on it, it is a great double-duty car. Worth every penny. A big portion of RCF owners use it for track duty and is popular track car in Japan for touge and time attack. The car in the video might be a high mileage one costing only $40K and has a lot of wear and abuse possibly on bushings and suspension. I hate body roll in my high performance car and I am super happy with the RCF damping and body control. A new one should feel different. Mine is almost still brand new with just 10K miles and feels very firm and tight still. Does great on the race track and also a great street car. A lot of the weight is steering weighting as well since in SPORT+ the steering gets a lot heavier and direct. The suspension is actually stiff, if you put really aggressive tires since they are only 19 inches for a heavy car. The real damping characteristics get masked by being undertired as it comes from the factory. Also, driving dynamics wise, it does almost 1g sustained on the skidpad in tests. Stock for stock, for personal experience, factually it is much quicker on the race track than both the previous generation E92 M3 and ISF being one generation newer in terms of lap times. It was an F82 M4 rival in 2015 and put a very similar lap time with Randy Pobst driving it in 2015.

How does chassis dynamic and especially steering compare between the two cars? I rented a SS 1LE for a week and fell in love with the steering, engine, and transmission. Biggest problem was the visibility. It felt a little claustrophobic on my commute and for around town driving. I think for the money the 6th Gen SS 1LE is the better buy at least in terms of fun. Long term reliability aside…which the Lexus would probably be better…it’s a sharper car, has one of the best manual transmissions out there, and is still plenty comfortable to daily drive. The visibility is the only real glaring issue. RCF definitely wins in that department. I drove my buddy’s RCF briefly and while it is a really nice car, the transmission really spoiled the experience for me. The downshifts are inconsistent, often delayed, and not always smooth. For the price of the car, especially when it was new…it should have come with a better sorted transmission. It was fully warmed up as well. That and the fact you don’t feel really anything. 110 mph is boring….between the auto and the super insulated cabin, it feels like a video game. You don’t get much of a sense of speed and because the engine is so linear and not particularly torquey…you don’t get much of a shove. You look down and realize you’re hauling. If it had a manual transmission, I think it would be one of the best GT cars on the market though. It’s pretty fast, I think that engine is underrated because the RCF is faster than cars it shouldn’t be on paper… The interior is nice, brakes feel good, it does a lot of things well. It doesn’t do it for me, my ND2 is way more draining to daily drive but it’s also way more fun, especially on a backroad. The 19 SS 1LE I had before was nearly as good of an all rounder but was way more engaging to drive. That car hides its weight incredibly well. My friend loves his RCF though. @@Zygrene if I was not located on the east coast, I would lend you mine!! If you ever come out here I got you, but I know a few of the Cali GSFs, maybe I can help connect you to the owners if they are interested

Such a boring car, inside and out.

You can buy two mustangs for the price of this, you really have to be a weeb to want a slow, slushbox, lexus coupe labeling itself as a sports car IS 500 is a different story, at least that's four doors so it's something american muscle can't offer And the LC 500 goes all in on luxury, it doesn't pretend to be a sports car
@ARentz073 ай бұрын
The IS 500 is still a lot more expensive on the used market (though much newer, obviously). Have you driven an LC? I have, on track, and it handled great. Sure, it was luxurious, but it wasn't a boat.

@@ARentz07 Yeah we're talking about the RCF though. Who would actually buy a new RCF for $80 grand when you could get two mustangs for that price, you could get a used LC 500, you could get an IS 500? RCF is a failed sports car

@@awepossum1059the mustang gt of this year is only a better car to somebody that only cares about racing. In every other way this is a far superior car.

@@mogulme6190 Its literally an F car. That is lexus' racing division. Its supposed to have solid performance but it doesnt, it's heavy and slow and outdated.

@@awepossum1059 Honestly, I would buy an RC F for $80k. I have an IS 500 now, and the RC F would provide some nice handling and braking upgrades over my car while only sacrificing a small amount of practicality. I could upgrade my car myself, but I also think there is something to be said for a car I can buy new with a warranty having those things already.
