It has aged well because car designs have been abysmal as of late. Barely anything is attractive these days all due to simplification and cost cutting. You have exceptions like Mazda, Genesis, and Acura, and, of course, the LC500 and IS500, but everything else leaves a lot to be desired!!!

Light performance oriented mods really make these cars shine. I have a '16 GSF with aftermarket catback exhaust, polyurethane LCA bushings, full body bracing, and those mods alone improved the driving dynamic significantly. Going to add some coilovers soon to really get it to the next level.

Best purchase I’ve ever made is my 15’ Carbon TVD. When I tell people my car is 9 years old the expressions they show is hilarious. Nothing cheap was used for these being built, only thing I’d upgrade to is an Anniversary for the color scheme or a Track edition for lighter performance. The car is discontinued after this year so we might get a new TTV8 the GT3 car is testing.

@@MidnightV6 torque vectoring differential. It’s a feature that comes with the higher end trims levels for this car. Really cool tech that allows torque to be applied to individual wheels, so improved handling in turns for example. I have test driven RCFs several times including the track editor in the Lexus performance school event. Drove it back to back in a auto cross with the LC500 and the IS500. Definitely, feels the most stiffest and most buttoned down of the three with the least amount of float. Very hunkered down and tall happy. The LC500 feels very big, clumsy and the 4400 lbs weight with the soft suspension. We also had a lot of overheating issues with the LC500. The IS500 rolls way too much and drags the front wheels. Way too much understeer to push into oversteer. RCF felt the most nimble, playful and wanted to rotate and kick the tail out at every turn. The chassis felt very stiff and buttoned down. Certainly, I would say it is the most track oriented of the 2UR cars.

Being an RCF with CF/TVD package (option) and spent a hefty amount on it, it is a great double-duty car. Worth every penny. A big portion of RCF owners use it for track duty and is popular track car in Japan for touge and time attack. The car in the video might be a high mileage one costing only $40K and has a lot of wear and abuse possibly on bushings and suspension. I hate body roll in my high performance car and I am super happy with the RCF damping and body control. A new one should feel different. Mine is almost still brand new with just 10K miles and feels very firm and tight still. Does great on the race track and also a great street car. A lot of the weight is steering weighting as well since in SPORT+ the steering gets a lot heavier and direct. The suspension is actually stiff, if you put really aggressive tires since they are only 19 inches for a heavy car. The real damping characteristics get masked by being undertired as it comes from the factory. Also, driving dynamics wise, it does almost 1g sustained on the skidpad in tests. Stock for stock, for personal experience, factually it is much quicker on the race track than both the previous generation E92 M3 and ISF being one generation newer in terms of lap times. It was an F82 M4 rival in 2015 and put a very similar lap time with Randy Pobst driving it in 2015.

@@2ZZGE100 owner here, this car shouldn't be too abused or anything, it was a 1 owner car before I bought it at around 43,000 miles. The og owner bought it in 2015 new and sold it back to the same dealership in 2023, seemed to be taken care of (interior fairly clean as well) and serviced at the dealership at every interval. Definitely need to change the tires though, but otherwise it's been a great daily driver.

@@sid1011 Thanks for chiming in. Yeah, definitely perplexing for sure, Mine has the CF/TVD and I track it once in a while and it is amazing on track, but the suspension is basically the same as yours except TVD comes with different rear springs. Like I mentioned, tires do make a huge difference on a car like RCF, which has 19 inch wheels (on the smaller side) and taller sidewalls. My OEM PSS was severely underwhelming (rolled way too much on the sidewalls) so I went with much more aggressive tires and it made a big difference. Once again, thanks for your input. Cheers!

@@SAYZLEE2024 BMW M4 has 473 hp, the 2015 RC F has 467 hp (471hp on the ‘20+.) Granted, the RC F is 300 pounds heavier. But, some of that weigh is: dry sump oil system, trans cooler, oil cooler, insanely stiff chassis, fully forged aluminum subframe, forged wheels, titanium valves…I mean the build quality is just INSANE on the RC F. PLUS…and this is a KEY point for me…(and before I say it let me acknowledge that compares a lightly modded car to a stock car opens the doors to the spiraling conversation of “ok then I’ll just do this mod then”)…BUT I think it’s somewhat “unfair” that the M4 is turbo and RC F is a N/A car WITH a VERY restrictive exhaust/emissions/quiet Lexus standard…what am I getting at? Let’s give the RC F just a bit more breathing. Let’s compare the RC F with intake long tubes, x-pipe, exhaust and a tune. THAT is a menacing daily/track car. “Well, I get tune the M4 then”…ok, that’s fair. But, NOW we get to the POINT… A Lexus F-car with headers and fbo with go for 200k+ miles, run like the day you bought it, and sell for great money. BMWs basically implode when the warranty is up and their resale is garbage if they have any miles at all.

That must have been an abused RCF as is the case of most of the $40k RCF, but being an ISF and RCF owner, RCF has way better driving dynamics with the low, wider and stiffer chassis. The added weight has a lot to do with the chassis rigidity.

Hi, big fan! Really curious on your opinion given you’ve driven both cars - how would you pick between a RCF and a S550 gt premium w/ performance pack? I’m a huge manual fan so I’m hesitant to give up that in the RCF but from what I’ve read the getrag leaves much to be desired in the mustang. How does chassis dynamic and especially steering compare between the two cars? I rented a SS 1LE for a week and fell in love with the steering, engine, and transmission. Biggest problem was the visibility. It felt a little claustrophobic on my commute and for around town driving. I would essentially love a SS 1LE in a more premium package, any opinions which you would go with for a daily driver? 85% boring stuff, 14% spirited driving, 1% track work.

@@DreezyinaV I am not arguing . Just stating it is far from weak and underwhelming if one really extracts its potential with jekyll/hyde personality. It is actually an amazing performance machine. A lot of that is because of the chassis rigidity. I take mine to the track and push it to absolute limits and know how to it handles. I am only stating fact that it is incredibly fun and amazing at the limits. Almost 1.00 g on the skid pad on street tires. Even an M2 these days weighs nearly 3900 lbs. RCF chassis is what they use in modified form in the GT3 program. You are talking about the chassis, I actually own a 2019 IS350 F-Sport as well. It never makes me forget why Lexus chose to build a different chassis and not use the 3IS chassis and make RC/RCF out of it. It has a lot of shudder and floppy behavior while the RCF feels like a brick over the same bumps. RCF chassis compared g to my IS chassis is night and day. Way more stiffer.

I bought a 2016 RCF last year as a daily. It sounds/looks great, & is super reliable, but not much of a track car.

I just tracked a fully prepped 2016 (stripped interior, down to 3500 lbs) last weekend and it was super impressive. Completely unfit for daily driving though.

It is a double duty car. I track it and also take my two kids in baby seats. It does everything very well. The only thing I swapped chassis and suspension wise, was much more aggressive tires (stock PSS tires were disappointing and too soft for the weight) and also LCA stiffer bushings that gives a bit more feedback from the front and makes tire wear more even.

I think for the money the 6th Gen SS 1LE is the better buy at least in terms of fun. Long term reliability aside…which the Lexus would probably be better…it’s a sharper car, has one of the best manual transmissions out there, and is still plenty comfortable to daily drive. The visibility is the only real glaring issue. RCF definitely wins in that department. I drove my buddy’s RCF briefly and while it is a really nice car, the transmission really spoiled the experience for me. The downshifts are inconsistent, often delayed, and not always smooth. For the price of the car, especially when it was new…it should have come with a better sorted transmission. It was fully warmed up as well. That and the fact you don’t feel really anything. 110 mph is boring….between the auto and the super insulated cabin, it feels like a video game. You don’t get much of a sense of speed and because the engine is so linear and not particularly torquey…you don’t get much of a shove. You look down and realize you’re hauling. If it had a manual transmission, I think it would be one of the best GT cars on the market though. It’s pretty fast, I think that engine is underrated because the RCF is faster than cars it shouldn’t be on paper… The interior is nice, brakes feel good, it does a lot of things well. It doesn’t do it for me, my ND2 is way more draining to daily drive but it’s also way more fun, especially on a backroad. The 19 SS 1LE I had before was nearly as good of an all rounder but was way more engaging to drive. That car hides its weight incredibly well. My friend loves his RCF though. If you’re not a complete drivers car nerd like me….its a really solid package overall.

Lol GSF can compete with the RCF to your ending question
@2ZZGE100
@2ZZGE100 3 ай бұрын
On paper, RCF is much smaller, lighter, stiffer and also shorter (lower too). So, the dynamics favor the RCF, but in real life, the GSF gives you a lot more practicality with that 1 foot additional wheelbase.

You can buy two mustangs for the price of this, you really have to be a weeb to want a slow, slushbox, lexus coupe labeling itself as a sports car IS 500 is a different story, at least that's four doors so it's something american muscle can't offer And the LC 500 goes all in on luxury, it doesn't pretend to be a sports car

The IS 500 is still a lot more expensive on the used market (though much newer, obviously). Have you driven an LC? I have, on track, and it handled great. Sure, it was luxurious, but it wasn't a boat.

@@awepossum1059 Honestly, I would buy an RC F for $80k. I have an IS 500 now, and the RC F would provide some nice handling and braking upgrades over my car while only sacrificing a small amount of practicality. I could upgrade my car myself, but I also think there is something to be said for a car I can buy new with a warranty having those things already.
