Lots of useless videos on this one, but you're the only one to show it like how I would actually do the job. Made it easy! Thanks!

The direction of the airflow is from the engine to ➡️ the cabin/seats.
@Michael-dm1lr2 жыл бұрын
yes, i think the video shows the flow in the wrong direction, and maybe the old filter was incorrectly fitted in the first place.
@BigVine-m5i2 жыл бұрын
I agree the video is wrong.
@uritamminga13 ай бұрын
Yep, same here too say the same thing. Tab on top or bottom doesn’t matter. Air flows from front to back..

Thank you for your video - very easy and the part is $7. I took my Leaf into the dealer for a routine checkup. They said I needed a new cabin filter for $70. I said that they just changed that on the last visit. The rep said, "well, it's dirty." Thanks to your video, I opted to check the filter at home. The filter was sparkling white - the dealer didn't even check. If it had been dirty, $7 sure beats $70.

mikeyrey yeah unfortunately you have to double check yourself, thanks for watching and commenting!!

My leaf had a access cover INSIDE the glove box. That make it easy to SEE (and shine a light). All your other steps were spot on
@jean-marc44746 жыл бұрын
I also removed the panel behind the glove box and was able to access the filter. But that way the access is very limited and I really had to bend myself to the extreme to see and touch the filter panel. It was easy to remove the old filter and place the new one. It took me about 10 minutes from start to finish. On my 2015 LEAF I purchased a FRAM CF11177 Arm & Hammer filter. Thank you for the video, it really helped me a lot because I am not handy at all.

Thanks. The directions that came with the filter were impossible. I would never have been able to change it without your video!

Thanks for the video. The process was the same on my 2018 Leaf, although there was also a little cover that could be popped off in the glove box which made it easier to see what I was doing. Also, when putting the bottom cover back on, I found the back two retaining clips/posts needed a bit of guidance to get back into their slots. The front ones went in easy enough. All in all, it took me maybe 10 minutes total, 5 of which was spent watching your video. And Nissan wanted $90+tax to change it!!
@tachikaze2224 жыл бұрын
thanks mate; fellow 2018 owner here; I replaced my 2015 S filter once and it was a PITA so I had the dealer do my first 2 2018 replacements, but I'll do the rest now that I'm not taking it to the dealer annually any more I guess.

Scotty Kilmer just did a video on the value and relative ease of replacing cabin air filters on most cars and so I looked for a youtube video of how to do it with my 2015 LEAF and yours popped up. It was exactly what I hoped for. Thanks for uploading. :-)

I dropped down the glovebox last time but.. just using a mirror and flashlight, I could see where everything was located. Cake walk. Thanks. I got into the video less than one minute. Well done!

Worked for me. After watching a video to replace an earlier LEAF cabin filter and uselessly removing about ten screws I jumped on the goog and watched this one which made it easy.
@rogerhagen12817 жыл бұрын
thanks a million! saved me a ton of time trying to figure this simple replacement out. I have a 2104 and it is the same design. pull off the under carriage below the glove box, pop the lower clip on the filter case, pull off, remove old, replace with new filter and close it up. Done. For myself I did empty the glove box and pop the interior side panel off for visibility. I'm too big to twist my head under the dash so settled for the glove box doors corner stabbing me in the throat while I worked. That at least let me see my hands and the filter case area. The funny part about this is that when we first leased it we wanted it replaced as the off gassing plastic would not go away which took about 2.5 years incidentally. The dealership told me they had to remove the dashboard to get at it and we got soaked out of some BS money for labor. I could not believe it but of course nothing in the manual says a word about it. Now that I own it - despite the dealership I love the vehicle - I'll do as much maintenance as I can myself. Thank you again for posting this!!

Roger, please tell me, in the year *2104* what type of energy source is used in the Leaf? Are they using ZPE extractors, or still using batteries?
@rogerhagen12817 жыл бұрын
Emo Teofanov batteries. Eventually I will have to replace them which can run from $5-$7k. The cost of a cheap used car.
@feistyfauna7 жыл бұрын
The ZPE extractor is an option, but you accept all liability when adding that option.

Thanks so much for this video. I probably would not have been able to remove the compartment cap without your detailed explanation and showing the ends once it's off. Great video!
@jeffp5325 жыл бұрын
Your video helped me locate the filter box. But, you inserted the filter in the wrong direction. The OEM filter that Nissan installed has the arrow pointing toward the front to show where the front should be. The air flow is the opposite direction. It is from front to back. So you actually need to install the filter with the arrow pointing toward the car cabin and NOT toward the front of the car. Easy to mix up because Nissan installed a filter with a misleading Arrow
@hondaguy91536 жыл бұрын
I thought everyone has their head out of their ass when it came to cabin filter placement at this point... All the ones I've done recently are just behind the glovebox in their own little tray that easily slides out and back in in 2 minutes. Nissan really dropped the ball here! Thanks for the video.

Thanks for the video,i noticed that the Arrows- air flow direction point to the other side in my nissan filter! Any suggestions?
@APDTY6 жыл бұрын
Hosam Al-Khayyat just make sure to match the flow of the filter to the flow in the vehicle, you can also pay attention while removing the filter, it might still have arrow marks on it

This was such an absurdly difficult and tedious process compared to other cabin air filter replacements. For Toyota, you just unhook the glove box and slide the new filter in.

As a newly Leaf owner....this is the stupidest filter design and location I have ever seen!!! I am not looking forward to changing mine...UGH.
@blomegoog2 жыл бұрын
I have used this video a number of times, since our LEAFs in our family are now 13y old. correction is some brands label the filter FRONT -> and some label AIR FLOW -> which is completely opposite. Not sure how much it matters if the element is truly directional but for example BOSCH uses the AIR FLOW terminology so I installed the element with the pull tab at the bottom, instead of the top, on those that say FRONT. Even in this video, his replacement is labeled AIR FLOW and the original is marked FRONT so he's only going by the arrows, and not the words, which would be incorrect?! Anyway DIY beware.
@chenxingcx2 жыл бұрын
I think the direction in the video is wrong too. Airflow and front should be opposite. The two sides of the filter aren't the same

I was the other way around because the arrows on my filter were different. I wasn't sure which way the air flow was supposed to go towards, then I felt the AC coil inside the box and figured it out.

How much is a factory one? My coconut shell activated charcoal filter was $17 and there's cheaper ones available. The only thing the filter is needed for is to keep the AC evaporator clean... I'm sure the factory one is twice the price I paid. For some markings...I'll pass.
