First video to mention airflow arrow direction. Excellent!!

Yes, really good to have that confirmed! The old filter had an arrow labelled FRONT whereas the new one showed the airflow direction, and I was not certain. I did also look in the (US) service manual and that showed the airflow going downward from the blower.

Great tutorial thank you. For anyone watching on the other side of the Atlantic/Chunnel, aka left-hand drive, the clip that likes to break goes on the bottom rather than the top. Everything else is mirror image.

The old filters on all of these videos all seem to show a rather creased filter such that one wonders how well they are fitting when installed. Thanks for the guidance for a right hand drive car.

Thanks just done mine - was utterly filthy and looks like an original that's never been changed despite having a main dealer service every year!
@GoGreenAutos2 жыл бұрын
Quite common actually. Its a racket. Main dealers charge for brake fluid and cabin filter changes, but often its not actually done.
@EricDennisonАй бұрын
When my dealer service rep tells me "he checked the filter and it's dusty" I am 99% certain he's lying because there is no way someone would go to that much trouble just to look at the filter.
@GoGreenAutosАй бұрын
100% They don't check and the vast majority of time, they don't change it either, yet will bill you for a new filter. I made a video on this subject, see kzbin.info/www/bejne/jmqvqq15r65krtk

Especially given the likelihood of damaging the old filter while removing it. Pretty shocking if that's standard practice.

Not the easiest thing to do but it can be done. After removing the eight screws from the glove box it still wouldn't come out. I found two screws on the inside of the glove box on the top. Once I remove those two screws the glove box came out. I have a 2018 leaf that makes any difference. I had 10 screws.

Mine (2018) as well. Also, just the one electrical harness, which is the glove compartment light. Very easy removal.

Thanks. I changed my ZE1 Leaf cabin filter. Removing the glove box definitely makes it much easier. Wouldn’t have wanted to try through only that tiny access hole 😅

Mine was unbroken (until I got to it, at least!) and the filter was unsurprisingly filthy. I figured you were supposed to squeeze the sprung clip to release it (I had to use long angled pliers to get around the AC lines), but I wonder if the proper technique is to push the whole cover toward the spring clip end to release the breaky tab first, then swing it out around the spring clip.

I agree with the struggles with the filter... The plastic cover came off undamaged using a coin to the side of the upper clip.....

Belting video, thank you. My filter looked just like yours , are they that light brown colour on the intake side when new? Reason I ask is that it is (supposedly) new following a service 3 days ago.
@GoGreenAutos Жыл бұрын
They come in all colours, depending on the manufacturer. But yes these Nissan ones can be brown. Most cabin filters are white and carbon activated ones are grey. Some are blue, yellow or green.

I may not be seeing it right, but it appears the broken end (longer tab) is positioned towards the top in your car. In my 2018, which I just did the replacement myself, the longer tab is towards the bottom. Is it possible you may have pushed the cover in upside-down and that was the reason the tab broke off?

Hello Matt. Quick question for you on this .. Even tho that car had a Nissan Filter when you are replacing the filter what one is better Borg & Beck or Crosland ? i am genuinely interested.
@GoGreenAutos2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely no difference between them. Its only a filter to catch airborne dust, pollen etc, so they all do that job just fine. Its better to buy the cheapest and change regularly.
@chrisrichmond4032 жыл бұрын
@@GoGreenAutos That’s no probs . I have actually changed it myself last weekend ( New one Crosland) Old one is Borg & Beck, Thanks for the video it is useful . From the broken clip i could tell it has been changed before , ( Also my glovebox is missing one of the four lower screws as well . I did keep the Borg & Beck as it only had 7k miles use & has good life left . I did do the filter change as well to try & improve the leaf’s steamy & condensation accumulations .

This filter brings a lot of anger in me. Nice car....but filter...what were they thinking whoever designed this...glove box could've been smaller....normal usable size.
@robinwells8879Күн бұрын
It’s an unpleasant job on most cars today due to the need to place it in the airstream entering the cabin. Only my nineteen eighties Saab 900 was nice and easy access from the engine bay. 😂
