Great video. Very thorough. I'm planning on doing that too. Any tips on how to replace the idler pulley right above, to the left. Does it involve any motor mounts removal, lowering or raising of engine, any tips? Thanks

Wish I could help on that one but I actually haven’t replaced one of those wish you the best

Absolutely love the video definitely the best one I've seen you've got another subscriber. One questions though 1) would i have to tighten the 13mm bolts to a specific torque or is it ok to just hand tighten the tensioner?
@CoopersAutomotiveRepair3 жыл бұрын
I never told tensioner belt so yes just by feel

Just did this job again on the same car. 135k miles. Daughter said she heard a "thunk" and some dash indicators came on. The first replacement was a cheap one with a year warranty. The pivot arm actually snapped in two and the pulley was missing! Got a lifetime warranted one this time... That top bolt sux! Can you put an extension through those holes in the frame?
@CoopersAutomotiveRepair2 жыл бұрын
This was the first one that I have actually done that’s a good question but I don’t know the answer thanks for watching
@condor56352 жыл бұрын
No - they don't line up apparently with an extension going through one of the holes. The better option I have heard is remove the pulley on the new and old one which clears access to the bolt. :)

If you only wrap the belt around the pulleys by hand,what puts the tension on the belt ? does the metal pin get removed and that will put tension on it ? thanks in advance!
@CoopersAutomotiveRepair3 жыл бұрын
Yes when you pull the pinReleases the spring to tighten the belt

I may have to do this.could you use a "Step Bit" on that hole in the frame t make it big enough to get a socket in? I cant imagine it would weaken the frame.
@CoopersAutomotiveRepair Жыл бұрын
You could do that
