I did it! The front and rear was SUPER easy! cherry! I even had to use your jack trick for the rear...man! that sucker was in tight! Just learning here and buying new tools as I need them. If I had to do this all over again, I would like to have a smaller torque wrench and breaker bar. They come in handy but I managed with my big ones. now I know what gift to by myself in the future. Thank you! 2015 WRX complete!

Just wanted to say your trick with the jack on the differential bolt was a life saver for me; A combination of awkward positioning and probably an overtightened bolt meant I had to use my jack to loosen it also...It was a bit sketchy, I kept picturing the breaker bar breaking loose onto my face...but it worked lol. Thanks man, I've been trying to figure how to access the fill without pumping it. I had Subaru change my front and rear fluid at 30,000 it was cheap money. Ever since that I've had an issue with very hard shifting when the fluid is cold for the first 10min. The ambient temperature can be 20 or 65 Fahrenheit doesn't matter. Kinda sucks when trying to downshift. I'm going to try to change it with redline 75-90 NS hopefully it works.

Hey I have a 17 sti. I've changed transmission oil before many times but never on a manual car. It's not much different besides there isn't a pipe running through the top of engine for filling. Anyways I was wondering if the drain plug and fill hole/dip stick holes are in the same place on my car; in fact I'm not sure my sti has a MT dip stick. Can you clarify? And also the front diff is also just the transmission right? Got confused didn't know there was a front diff

By 60k, your power train warranty is done. If you go much longer than that without changing it, say past 100k, I definitely wouldn’t change it. New oil can cause seals and gaskets to leak because it will clean the debris that’s likely holding the oil in. You’d have to take apart and reseal the transmission. Better to change every 30k, that way the rubber seals stay lubricated and debris free, transmission will last longer.
@shawncey24246 жыл бұрын
The first transmission fluid front diff I did with you Subaru OEM fluids I was thinking about doing Amsoil severe gear oil for the front transmission and rear diff. Or should I do an oil sink mass for the transmission and front diff. What do you recommend I'm on flex-fuel about 350 wheel horsepower

I have had a Subaru forester 1997 (automatic) from new, that has been great for all the years with very little to do other than annual services. However, recently I have had a lot of vibration & shuddering on the wheels when making tight turns (left or right). It is difficult to identify which wheels the noise or shudder comes from and I don't feel much through the steering wheel. I have had all difs replace that has reduced the frequency but not always. We hope it isn't the automatic gear box but has anyone got any ideas what to do next.
