At 28:10, keep the spout at the high point of the bottle while pouring, for maximal control and to prevent "glugs".

I have had a Subaru forester 1997 (automatic) from new, that has been great for all the years with very little to do other than annual services. However, recently I have had a lot of vibration & shuddering on the wheels when making tight turns (left or right). It is difficult to identify which wheels the noise or shudder comes from and I don't feel much through the steering wheel. I have had all difs replace that has reduced the frequency but not always. We hope it isn't the automatic gear box but has anyone got any ideas what to do next.

Hi great vids, learn so much. Have 2017 Forester xt right hand drive, will the air vent be on the same side as yours (left hand drive) which I think is the right side? Thks

i would expect the air vent is on same side. i doubt they have different transmissions for right/left countries.

How many miles did you have on that? I will only change mine when the manual says to, not before. I saw where someone did that and had it tested, they still had 80% usefulness on it. The milage was 140k. Why would you spend money and change fluids on something that unless the manual says to, then dont. On some transmissions, it can actually cause more issues by changing the fluids. Unless you off road ALOT Then only go with STANDARD manual recommended changes, NOT extreme. Its your car, do what you want. My 2015 only has 47k miles on ours. Far from time to change. The only thing I want to change is the brake fluid. I generally just change the reservoir fluid twice a year, as the fluid does circulate every time you hit the brakes, there is no reason to crack open bleeders. If you NEVER change the fluid, then yes, crap can settle into the brake caliper. As long as you are changing the fluid, you are only after moisture in the system, not worrying about rust and chunks. If you have brakes locking up, you have bigger issues than moisture.
@LastHumansGarage6 жыл бұрын
brake fluid does not circulate. maybe it moves back and forth an inch...

Hello Mark. I 'm a fan of your channel over the past 2 years, so i 'd want to mention a "mistake" you do a lot of times. It's about using your torque wrenches. One click with very slow speed is enough. I know that your OCD kicks in and you want to double check it, but "clicking" the wrench 2-3-4-5 times, just adds more torque to the bolt. Watch your video carefully and you will see that after five clicks, the wrench has moved about 10 degrees more of your first click. Also, some times you keep pushing or pulling the wrench, even though it has clicked. You may find more information at the video below(after 5.45 if you don't have the time to watch it all): kzbin.info/www/bejne/rpyVgqqfa7mhnLM Keep up the good work mate! Nikos
@LastHumansGarage8 жыл бұрын
understandable. but i like a little extra torque anyway. but appreciate the tips, i can always learn something new.

Would it be the same for a 2015 wrx cvt?
@LastHumansGarage Жыл бұрын
def not.. CVT is a sealed system technically. and only dealers should change it officially.. but im sure its possible.
@LastHumansGarage Жыл бұрын
ohhh i mis-read... i thought you meant changing the CVT fluid.. ta for a WRX, i would expect the front diff change is about the same..
@tommyw78 жыл бұрын
just subscribed to your channel as i own a forester xt myself. do you find any performance or NVH (noise vibration harshness) differences after the change?
@LastHumansGarage8 жыл бұрын
from differential oil??
@tommyw78 жыл бұрын
Yes and the reason why I asked is because of a random drone in the front of the car and pedal vibration at around 1500 rpm when I accelerate. I can't consistently replicate the noise so can't get help from dealer. The only thing I can think of is either the transmission or the front diff. This is why I asked.

LastHumansGarage For other viewers: on a 2015 forester premium, not the XT as shown here, the fill hole for the front diff is in a slightly different position: Allen plug just above CV axle inboard joint, need to use pump as funnel cannot reach from above and turn in at a right angle.
