After watching many KZbin reviews of the Corolla, I notice the one thing no reviewer mentions is that you virtually NEVER have to take it in for repair, other than oil, and filter changes. I have a 2005 Corolla, and I have never had to do so much as one repair on it. Ever. (Well, I did have to have the serpentine belt changed at 90K) It's currently at 116,000 miles, and still starts right up in the morning, runs as smooth as the day I bought it. People constantly mock the corolla and civic bunch, but for people who want a reliable commuter that gets them to where they want to go, then the corolla or civic is perfect. I still prefer the mazda 3, but I won't judge. These are cheap to maintain, easy to maintain, easy to find parts for, cheap to fill up, cheap to own…….. If someone wants a simple car as a daily driver for that 30+ mile to work and can't afford a nicer car to put those kind of mileage on, then the corolla is that type of car.

Easy fix for the crappy steering wheel feeling - buy a Wheelskin. It is the nicest feeling leather. I have one installed in our Camry and it made a HUGE difference. Got one in our Miata too. It takes about two hours to install. It is much better than a factory leather-wrapped wheel. Totally worth the money. Just take your time with the install. The Wheelskin with one seam is best, skip the perforated European one (too many seams, doesn't feel as nice).

The 90's and 2000's Corollas are bad compared to today's standards, but they were actually good for the era they were created in. Especially if you compare them to the Sunfires and Neons of their day.

its an LE, not the base. LE is one trim level above the base model

That is really interesting with the steering wheel. The pattern on mine isn't with that plastic material for the Sport model. The leather-like material for the seats on the sport looks like it would feel better compared to what's on the base model. I'm told the clutch on the 6 speed is really soft too. All in all, the 6 speed in my opinion is a great option for the corolla. Especially if you're first learning to drive stick. Governor Tops the car out at 115MPH too out of the 140 on the speedometer. Gonna be a BIG change for when I get my Scat Pack haha. Great review, dude!

Hey! Really random question: I saw you test drove a 392 for funsies awhile back, does that challenger pull as hard as your old stingray or is it noticeably too heavy? I know the challenger runs with 3.90 gears so i thought it might actually feel faster than the vette off the line. Reason I'm asking is I'm in the market for a new car and those two are at the top of my list. A hellcat is unfortunately just out of my price range, the vette would be a little bit of a spring for me itself.
@StreetSpeed7179 жыл бұрын
+agood12890 The Vette feels a lot faster and to be honest it is lol. The 392 has slightly more power but the vette is like 900 lbs lighter

+Street Speed 717 Thanks for the input! No one has any cars to test drive around here :/ and it's really too bad that i think the new camaro looks like balls

In my opinion the Corolla S is actually significantly better in looks and functionality. Has heated seats (which are the two little buttons beside each other under the heating and cooling controls), sun roof, nice mag wheels and a "sport" button which doesn't do much but it's there. Also has paddle shifters which are also useless because it's a CVT transmission but that's a whole other story. For $23000 Canadian I personally think it's a hell of a good car. It is by far no sports car but there's a reason they sell a lot and that's because it won't die! Haha
@SeayMark129 жыл бұрын
Oh it also has the option to turn traction control off which is beside the sport mode button another nice feature.

Wow when i first saw these 2014-2018 Corollas i thought it was the coolest looking car ever. So i got a blue one lol and after 1 and half years of driving it,my one and only complaint is acceleration is very very poor in hot weather. Other than that i love mine and i will drive mine forever.

I can see that you are trying to be fair to the car but there are some basics that would have taken just a few minutes to find out before making your review. This car has a CVT. So it in some ways never really shifts in the traditional sense. S model Corollas have a sport mode, your LE doesn't have a sport mode really, you were just using the pseudo manual shift pattern. Also, the gated shifter that has to be moved over before pulling down is instead of having a button to press on the shifter. Almost all auto transmissions have some mechanism that tries to keep them from being accidentally shifted out of park and potentially rolling down a hill or whatever. I'm no fan of the Corolla but a few basics need clarifying.

I think you are the wrong person to test drive this car! :) No offence!! :D For me it makes a pretty good impression! Outside and inside looks like they have tried to make the best possible out of it in this price class! :) I can believe that the feel of the steering wheel is quite strange though! :) Overall no that bad as you said! But also kind of good too! :D The mini i8 feeling!!

this guy was complaining about things that's standard about Toyota. like the way you have to go around park to get to reverse on the gear box. It wouldn't confuse grandma's you just follow the simple lines lol.

The loaner cars are kind of nice actually. It reminds you how much of a beast your car is when you get it back. Sometimes you forget when you drive it everyday!

Honestly I like the corolla, my dad has had the same one since before I was born and it is still running. Sure they might not be fast but if you get the manual it makes it a little more fun because you are doing something

That's way above the base model with CVT transmission, rear view camera and A/C. The base model is known as 2015 Toyota Corolla CE and is only available here in Canada. Same car but with 6 speed manual transmission, no back up camera and no A/C. You can buy used here, with low mileage under 50,000 km (31,000 miles) for under $10,000 Canadian ~ $7600 US.

The Corolla 2015 is not boring. It takes corners like it was a Hachi-roku. Out of all the cars I've driven, it's the only one where I've managed to take the last corner out of my neighborhood at 80 km/h (on a 2004 Civic I was afraid of taking it at 60 km/h). You can step on it on the highway at 180 km/h and you will only notice when you look at the speedometer.

Heated seats in base models, are you high? Maybe for BMWs and Acuras but not for mainstream compact sedans.

TIL Mike has reviewed a Corolla. Bored in "quarantine" and I searched Corolla reviews. Didn't think Mike would show up, but here we are. Also, geez there's a lot of hate down here. Kinda interesting to go back and see after 2 McLaren's and an absurd amount of Corvettes.

#yota... a lot of blood sweat and tears were put into that car in Mississippi. if only you guys knew how much effort we put into building our products to ensure our customers are getting the best quality vehicles. corollas are great beginner cars. v6 Camry is a beast. tho I drive the rcf daily but I must say when I get in my Camry it does not feel slow as you would think it would after getting out of a v8 with twice its power.
