2015 VW Golf - MIL/EPC, Transmission Errors

In this video we are troubleshooting a 2015 VW Golf, the vehicle starts and runs but is stuck in park. The check engine light and epc lights are on, the dash also says there is a transmission error and the dash also says we are in reverse when the vehicle is in park. I want to stress how important vehicle history is, with that in mind I hope you guys enjoy this video and thanks for watching.

Another top job Tommy. You say easy but you’re doing yourself a great disservice. It’s easy because you have the necessary experience, skills and knowledge. You likely saved someone a bunch of money in diagnostic time, which is nice since they just had some bad luck with the accident. Banked some good karma there I think. I guess if that car belonged to you or I and didn’t require repairing to factory standards, we might have been tempted to soak that board in water dispersant and then steal the wife’s hair dryer to see if that might cheer it up? Did that once with a ECM on a VW Polo (do you have the Polo in the USA? In the UK, it’s the next model down from the Golf you worked on here) That Car was still running two years later when it went to the crusher! Another top job Tommy. Thanks for sharing.

I loved my Golf and its fantastic dual clutch gearbox,but I never fully trusted it because it was so reliant on electronics. I sometimes wish that car manufacturers would take a step back from cramming so much software into their vehicles and maybe take a leaf out of the large Japanese companies who tend to be a little bit more conservative (in a good way) with the installation of electronics. I firmly believe the simpler a vehicle is the more reliable it is.

Mine has an error transmission but it randomly goes away and randomly come back and there doesnt seem to be wrong with my vw golf, it runs and turns on perfectly fine

What if you installed a used tcm. Can you delete the coding and recode it? And if you can. Do you have to do it online? Thanks for the great vedio and sharing with us your experience and knowledge.

I think you can do it with odis. I think using the online function would be the best choice

Tom i do not know where are you exactly but if i decided to travel your garage will be my first destination just to meet you that is the 1st thing the 2nd thing what is happen if i replace tcm without decoding it thanx buddy ?

Thanks. I'm In Pittsburgh PA. And eventually it probably would have thrown module not coded fault and may have had limited functions. Or it might have been fine. Everything seemed to work normally when I first plugged the new module in without coding it

What kind of gearbox is this, its not a dual clutch gearbox. A dsg hasnt got a seperate TCM.

This is standard automatic transmission.Wikipedia says Golf Mk7 comes with 6 and also 7 speed DSG. But it's also available with standard automatic transmission as well as manual transmission..Also in the video - when reading DTC you can see there was a DTC for Torque Converter. DSG doesn't use torque converter. And as you said it's not TCM but Mechatronic unit.

Petar thanks for your answer. In europa a golf can only be bought with a manual or a dsg transmission. Thats why i didnt regonise it.

Polo 9N EPC fault light Hi guys, I have a 2010 Polo vivo 1.4 63kw, I have started experiencing an issue when the vehicle has come to a stop with engine idling (usually at a traffic light or stop street) the EPC fault light comes on. The engine idle becomes rough & increases to about 1200rpm, there is also no response to the accelerator pedal at this time. I have to switch the car off & restart to pull off from the stop. There is no sign of the problem after this action. The problem is sporadic & doesn't occur at every stop of the vehicle. Prior to this problem I noticed unusual engine response to the accelerator pedal on low revs(in neutral while idling,stationery position) , slow response to react to the pedal & slow return to idle rev mark, sounds like the accelerator is being let of progressively when in fact it has been released completely. Hoping someone can help me identify the problem

Man I need your help some mechanic shop they bring me 2001 Volkswagen Passat 2.8 and they changed the oil pressure sending unit and they replace the oil pump the engine working good but the oil light keep coming on can you give me a hand Please

I think those are known for the pick up tubes clogging up in the pan. But if they replaced the oil pump I would imagine they cleaned or replaced it. Have you verified oil pressure?
