Waaaaaay back when... I once forgot about a rag in the intake (used it to keep dirt from getting in). Car would idle, but didn't have power. This was on an old CIS car that has the 2 throttle plates (primary & secondary). No way that the rag could get sucked past either... so I was a bit lucky. Took me a bit of time to find the issue. =)
@PositiveLeadDiagnostics7 жыл бұрын
simple mistakes happen...to everyone. at least you found it, those have only a closed throttle switch not an actual throttle position sensor right?
@EXOVCDS7 жыл бұрын
This one just had a WOT switch... CIS-Lambda. In my case, I knew that the car had no issues when It came into the shop, so I simply had to retrace my steps (which still took a while, apprentice at the time, so it was ok). Getting a car like this come into the shop as a no-start... I would never have thought of checking for throttle obstruction, until... like you, determined that it is throttle related. Great videos you've been putting up!

I had a Buick 3.8 one time that wouldn't accelerate. The air filter housing was full of dry dog food under the filter..(i guess rodents had put it there). The car had already been to two other shops. Since it appeared to have a new filter in it nobody thought to look underneath it.

How many miles on it? I suspect a possible engine change with a used engine from a wrecking yard. They often put paper towels in the throttle bodies to prevent dust/dirt from getting in when they sit in the warehouse. Edit: I see at the end you found it came from a body shop. That's even less excusable, in my opinion. I had an 07 Honda Odyssey that came to me with a check engine light. Scan showed bank 1 and 2 upstream LAF (O2) sensor heater circuit codes and some other unrelated circuit code. The owner told me the MIL had been on for about 15K miles after it had been in an accident. They took it back to the body shop shortly after it was repaired and the body shop just told them it was "some emissions thing." They even had a timing belt done by another shop later. Nobody fixed it. When it came to me I scanned it and suspected a blown fuse right away, most likely caused by a short across the heater circuit on the front LAF sensor during the accident. Replaced a 30A radiator fan fuse and the LAF fuse under the dash, cleared the codes and out the door with a happy customer who thinks I'm better than most shops (I'm just a DIY'er who does some work on the side for others.) Body shops seem to be notoriously bad. Fortunately, the non-functioning LAF's didn't take out the converters.

timing belt suggested for an o2 heater fault, crazy. yeah sometimes bodyshops are good for these types of things

My friend , What's the best affordable scan tools that you would reccomend ? And great videos straight to the point and no guessing . And an honest man .most shops out there , here or where ever you may be , would have sold the customer the part with out saying anything.
@PositiveLeadDiagnostics4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Joe. I really appreciate your comments. Scan tool costs are all over the board. Depends on your budget. I would suggest a snap on verus based on the scope and scantool built into one unit. The autel also is a good scantool. It has a lot of functionality on a lot of makes and models. But it all depends on your budget

It seems you are an expert. can you please advise? I have a Passat 2 L Diesel 2013, while downhill with engine break engine fault signal came on. mechanic read error codes: P219600, O2 sensor (bank 1, sensor 1), System too rich, status [237] and P012100, Throttle-valve position sensor, signal improbable, status [096]. he then cleared and let me go to see if it comes back. It did about 500 miles later downhill tempomat / cruise control on. some suggest it is the throttle valve started dying and needs to be replaced. car runs nicely smoothly same powerful as before. What do you think what should I do. Throttle house £ 250-350, position sensor (good for a lot of makes) £20, throttle repair kit ~£50, The car also has got a major service a month before. can it be a dirt from the filter/engine. Would a valve cleaning solve the issue? Thank you for any advice.

Good job man but why did you not first try to erase the fault code and then do a throttle body basic in basic in 04 setting Chanel 060 the engine ECM would of try to command the throttle body but I don't know if it would've work with the throttle plate not in a rest position like it was with the paper in there.

Is the block measure mode, where you got four values at a time, a standard for VW cars? I have a 2000 Skoda (VW took over this brand back then, so basically it's just a VW with Skoda tag on it) with EODB implemented, but it's not OBDII compatible (no check engine light at all and it will not work in OBDII mode with any scanner). I use a VAG-COM program on my laptop and a VAG KKL cable to connect to it. I noticed I can't read single PIDs, the only way is the "block measure" mode when it gives me four at a time.

Very good video brother. I am actually doing one as we speak on a 09 volkswagen eos. Same set up. I did the same thing with the scanner and my app sensors are good with one at 14 and other at 7 and pedal to the floor it's 88 and 44. App are good but the throttle sensors one is 84 and the other is at 6 roughly 7 but very unstable. And when pressed the sensor 1 goes to 99 and the second drops to 12. Clearly a fault as these should hit 100% when both are added. I don't have that 6 pin connector set . Can i use my aeswave connectors and disconnect the connector to the throttle body and do my checks like that or do I really need it to be connected to the throttle body? If so can I just gently pierce the wire and then put electrical liquid tape. Thank u brother. By the way man u really know ur stuff on these euro cars. But if the throttle body needs to be replaced and I don't find paper jammed up in there I know this has to be relearned with the vcds because I checked the verus and it doesn't have that function in it
@PositiveLeadDiagnostics6 жыл бұрын
The throttle sensors should add up to be roughly 100. The app sensors on should read half of the other. Sounds like you have that. When doing these checks the throttle needs to be plugged in. And you can backprobe its just difficult without that harness I used. You can adapt the throttle with the verus. Use expert mode and go into basic settings channel 60

The check engine light just came on in my VW Tiguan 2011 with an error code of P025C - "Fuel Pump Module Control, Signal Too Low". I'm hoping that replacing the fuel pump module control will take care of the problem. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
