I think if she'd gone toward the end she may have won it outright. They probably just would've just given her an extra tenth just to avoid the 4 way tie - though she deserved to win. I guess they screwed themselves over by not going high enough on her score.

Other than the handstand positions, the rest was PERFECTION. The layout jaeger got devalued to a piked I think (according to her D score), so it couldn't have been deducted in execution. For this routine to get as much as Kocian's (with all the legs separation, the bad dismount and handstands) is beyond me. I'm glad Mustafina got the gold in Rio

A lot of people like to romanticize Vika because of how beautiful her gymnastics was, but she was never robbed. It was always due to some failure on her part. In this instance, the laid out Jaeger was badly piked, leading to a downgrade on the element. But her routine was by far the most attractive of the competition and that full twisting double dismount was probably the best one ever done, I would argue.
