They went and designed a bike with such special lines, with innovative angles, with a beautiful TFT screen and all these electronics, and yet the key they used is the same as 20 years ago!! If you own a Yamaha scooter, or a Yamaha R1 you get the exactly same boring key! Congrats for the thinking!

yeah, i love the bmw but i have a 2010 yamaha r1 black and gold with akrapovic slip on cans and i was thinking about trading in my r1 and paying a bit for one of the two bikes. I don't do trackriding as i would never take a new bike on the track and i just don't have time. I ride out and about and occasionally have some fun on the motorways and the bypass. I'm really not sure i love them both but can't get over the front end of the r1, the circular lights look really bad but i do like the strips of LEDs or what ever they are lol!

Dude... with no mileage on the bike, the pads are green... you need to do some heavy braking from at least 80 down to about 10 mph to get the pads cooked up so they work. You said the brakes needed to be better... did they improve as you used them?

How much more comfortable the R1 is compared to the R6? For both the driver and the passenger. I've heard the seat is a little bit larger and so it's more comfortable

I still just don't get those headlights.....They look as if the designers built the bike, then went "Oh, shit....we forgot the headlights." and stuck them in. Apart from that, even though it's taken a long time, the rest of the bike is growing on me. I have an original R1, and everywhere you look, on this new model, you can still see the influence of it's original conception.

Are there any differences between the 2015 R1 and the 2016 R1? I'm going in on tuesday to buy a 2015 R1 but am willing to spend the extra $$$ if the 2016 R1 has something to offer... But I can't find any differences except a minor decal change on the front of the bike and the transmission issue ( Which will be fixed if i buy the 2015 model).

Newer bike mirrors are useless. Found that out on my 09 ER-6N and 14 Ninja 1000 but my trusty 01 vfr's are great. Pill shape mirrors may not be cool looking but they work.

Dude the 2015 R1 has a quick shifter, I like the reviews man there great but step your game up do a little research on what you are reviewing because saying that it doesn't have a quick shifter might not be a big deal to mess up on but look at it from the point of view from someone looking to buy this bike and they don't get accurate information so they might choose something else when the bike had what you wanted but you didn't specify or you just got it wrong and I only know about the quick shifter you might be missing or not telling about other features of the bike come on man seriously take this seriously if you want subscribers and people to trust your opinion
