Great video, Baron. I know I have now posted several comments like this and never gotten a reply, but I believe you're reading them, so it's alright. I am so happy with the new frequency of uploads, mate. It makes me so happy to see a notification that you uploaded a video, and even more so when I see it's a 19 minute video. I literally cooked dinner after seeing the notification to eat as I watched this video. Thank you so much for all the awesomeness, mate. I just bought a base 2015 model. Rode it for about a total of 4 hours and already love it. Came with a full Yosh system and an FT quickshifter/auto-blipper. Throttle definitely takes a bit of getting used to because of the momentary delay, but it's nice not to have to be millimetrically precise - just twist and trust the electronics. First gear is unnecessarily long, maxing out at 162km/h, and I think they did it for statistical considerations - 0-100mph without having to change gear, shaves fractions off that common benchmark...RSV4 has the same kind of long first gear. I have my first track day on it at the end of February and I'm beside myself from excitement.

Great video Baron. Makes me think of it as the BSA DBD34 Goldstar of today, built for going fast. If you could find somebody who would lend you one to compare it to and see how superbikes have developed/changed over the years that would be awesome. Other bikes like the original Triumph Bonneville T120, the Honda CB750 and things like the Kawasaki H2 750 and then moving eventually to get to the 1999 R1 and Ducati 916 e.t.c. That would be a cool series to watch

I'm after a new 1,000cc+ machine, apparently there's rumours that Triumph have an all new radically designed, bonkers looking, spec'd to the core 1050cc Daytona (R) Supersports coming for 2016, if that doesn't happen then I might seriously consider the R1M. Man, it looks and sounds the part! Keep the cool videos coming, Baron. Safe riding! :)

Is riding like this in the city considered normal? Weaving in between and cutting cars off at every possible chance?
@jackka829 жыл бұрын
+Jacob Mantzaris Wow, I simply asked if this is considered normal and you call me a jackass? lmao, how ironic. You obviously have shit for brains. Let's recap what genius words you spoke that doesn't answer my question at all: 1. It's safer to cut in front of cars from the sides while stuck in traffic(sure, Einstein). 2. and the bike is much faster than cars(so, faster vehicles should weave and cut in and out of traffic jams because they're faster?). 3. and the only other option to cutting off other cars would be to tailgate them(yes, because you seem to have a mental condition). How do you manage to live with the level of intelligence you have? Get some help, man.
@jackka829 жыл бұрын
+Jacob Mantzaris Haha, how is my response RANDOM insults when it's directly recapping the comments you made? A random insult would be if I said you were a fat, ugly fuck. You have yet to explain how it's actually safer to weave in and out of traffic jams and cut cars off. Which is not even what I asked about in the first place. You just keep saying that it's safer on the grounds that it's legal, even after I've explained how lane-splitting is different from what I was asking about. Oh, and I actually am a motorcycle rider, just not a retarded one.
@jackka829 жыл бұрын
+Jacob Mantzaris Really, he's not cutting cars off? What do you call 04:12 08:59 10:29 11:17 12:01 13:08 etc. He's putting his bike into other vehicles' paths and either making them brake and/or coming within inches of the front or sides of their cars. Let's not call that cutting cars off, because, fuck it, you're Einstein. I showed you an example of a random insult because you claimed that my response was full of random insults, when they weren't random at all. Too bad you're too dumb to even understand the difference. Why would you cry like a baby about insults anyway? If you feel offended by insults, maybe you should have thought about that before you made your first comment. lol You're the one who needs to learn road rules if you think that lane-splitting is just chucking your bike into the paths of other drivers. Enjoy the inevitable wreck you're going to get yourself into because you lack the proper brains to understand your impact on the drivers around you.

I must say I'm VERY impressed with your ability to sum up the emotional appeal and categorize bikes. I ride. Aesthetics are irrelevant to me. I have a 1999 KLR 650. You're probably feeling ill reading that. Your creative industries training has given you a stunning ability to communicate the flavor and visual visceral appeal of bikes FAR better than your average bike reviewer. Again, irrelevant to me, I only do dual sports bikes, I'm all about utility. But still impressive. Keep up the great bike reviews!

@HypermaxZ9 жыл бұрын
+michaelovitch Unfortunately, you are the minority as well as me when it comes to that opinion. Seems like everyone and their grandmas love the electronic do it all malarkey. Reason why I'm buying bikes that are older and less computer intrusive. Even the ABS on my 13' cbr1000rr was shit and did more harm than help.
@michaelovitch9 жыл бұрын
+HypermaxZ  peoples are sheep,and watch too much tv. The customer have only what manufacutrers want to give to him after a nice brainwashing. You can see a shit load of horse power and expensive parts and a shit load of devices allowing the customer to use the bike without killing himself because he would be unable to control the bike. who needs 200 hp ? who use the bike at its full capabilities ? nobody 99% of the peoples make few thousand miles with their bike ,and don't even use it the whole year,to roll 70 on the freeway ? that's fucking bullshit. On the hayabusa there even a control on power ,wich is reduced by something like 30 hp if you loose traction. guys in dragsters are obliged to remove the second set of flappers in the intake otherwise they loose time because of the burnout.... it's just to sell, year aftter year useless wasted bad taste technology for average peoples we are. i prefer my 75 hp bike wich I control from a to z.
@ThorVeras9 жыл бұрын
+michaelovitch Keep your opnion to yourself. Sheep ? More sheep is you to think eletronics are a bad thing. Try fly a jet without eletronics. Better, try to fly a supersport moto with 200hp without eletronics. You can ? Cool, but to do that you need proper training. Eletronics are the future, eletronics connect you more with the bike than if they are not on the bike. You can control your suspension via eletronics, control your abs control your leaning angle everything can be adjusted in the run by eletronics. Or you can take 1 2 4 hours on a garage trying to set it up everytime you want to change your settings. Wanna race on an R1M ? Ok just make a few clicks on the painel and boom, optimal racing for all the bike. Wanna commute ? Few clicks BOOM. Is ready for less consumption less power, more traction control. Be able to ride old bikes without eletronics dont make you ''bad ass'', just make you trained at that thing, so dont ignore the fact that eletronics make your riding experience better, you keep less worried about bumbs, sand and other stuff on the road because ddc/traction control and other stuff. And your riding experience you can focus more wherever you want. Eletronics are the future. I would like to always have option to turn it of like on s1000rr have. But, mostly of the time i dont want to think about my traction or other shty...
@michaelovitch9 жыл бұрын
+ThorVeras do you realize traction control =less hp abs = less braking power etc... you control less and less things while you think you do. peoples don't need all that while they are not even able to use their bike normally at legal speeds without. they sell you a 200 hp bike but they add devices to help you to not crash it too soon.
@ThorVeras9 жыл бұрын
michaelovitch ''they add devices that help you to not crash it too soon'' Where is the bad thing on that frase ? Is so wrong about the abs, abs give you perfect braking, if you are off roading of course i would turn off the abs, but them who off road a s1000rr 200hp motorcycle ? And this is not and Abs, is an Abs pro with leaning angles, every single condition but clear road will be better. Like raining, sand, dust and other stuff on the road. About the traction control is true, cut the power so help your traction, but that is a bad thing ? even so you can disable it... But even without disable i never ever saw a video of someone crashing a bmw s1000rr with all eletronics on....

Couldn't agree more with the review. I test rode the standard model to compare it to the s1000rr. The throttle was like it was connected with spaghetti so flimsy feeling. I was thinking a ball bearing system to replicate the pull of a throttle cable, maybe?. And the starter was a issue for me sounded like it didn't want to wake up. The speed was insane I would lose my licence for sure. I would get it for the track if I had the splash.

What's going on Baron, just a quick question for you. Your thumbnails are generally from a moving shot in the video - for example, filtering between vehicles. Do you go through the 60fps footage produced by the drift and save the image? The reason I ask is because your thumbnails are always very clear/good quality and considering get the Ghost S. Saving a frame from 30fps footage comes out terrible for me.. (Drift HD 1080P) and considering get the Ghost S.
@BaronVonGrumble9 жыл бұрын
+EvolutionMotovlogs every thumb i ever generate is from the video. Its a bit of a rule i have - i HATE it when they are different. The only one i did do was the 1199 everyday video, but that was a while back ;) Yes, i screen grab it from the raw video - not sure what to advise you - 60fps and 30 makes little difference. Actually, i think 30 could be better as less motion blur..
@EvolutionMotovlogs9 жыл бұрын
OCD Kicking in there eyy, I've seen that you've got a few which aren't from the video hehe! We are much alike though, I ALWAYS use a screenshot from the footage in relation to the title - makes sense right ;)? However my problem is they don't usually come out in great quality and very blury. (1080p 30fps footage). Yours seem to be crystal clear and presumed if that was down to Ghost S (since there are more frames). Anyway, if you go on to my channel you will see what I am referring to with my thumbnails! If you've got a spare second, check a video out and drop some feedback. Would be appreciated man! :D

I can agree to few points here. Hi tech-yes, looking good-yes,best snack of thieves-yes,responsive throttle-yes,but.....bike most likely for short trips and city use as those gsxr's, r6,zx6,cbr's. rr.they give a lot of fun and are uncomfortable and have not much space to fit any panniers.If yuo treat is as second bike when having zzr1400 ( i have 3rd at the moment), hayabusa, z1000sx or fz1 then why not.

hey Baron, interested on your thoughts on this; you say you would learn to live with the r1 as an everyday bike, despite its niggles, but a while ago when you test rode the 1199 you felt it was too fast and too extreme as a road bike? (leading to your 899 purchase) as they both are very track focused bikes, what makes you more open to owning an r1 now and not that 1199 back then? cheers bruv

Please do a more detailed video on the R1M suspension, - how well can it cope with lousy roads; do different comp/rebound setting work in these scenarios and how good or bad is the R1M compared to the 2015+ S1000RR on such surfaces? If the argument is the R!M a track bike, then how does it cope with bumpy tracks?

Think you'll ever swap the Vonda for one? ;)
@BaronVonGrumble9 жыл бұрын
+OrcaGT not sure i will ever 'swap' as in i have invested so much into the Vonda that i dont really see a point of selling it. the CBR is the last of the 'manual' great bikes so they could be worth holding onto for years. But yeah, im trying to buy the M!

+BaronVonGrumble Is your next video going to be on if scooters are a good track bike? then you can point out all the obvious reasons why they're designed for the city...

@biscuit37559 жыл бұрын

Guess the test will be when it gets a betting round the Isle Of Man TT this year like the S1000RR with Dunlope on last year... assuming its going to be at the TT.... a road circuit always a good test of a bike on public roads.. lol

Hi Baron I'm looking for a new streetbike. Only 1 to 2 trackdays a year. Which one do you think is the best. Yamaha R1M 2015 or BMW s1000rr 2017? :-)

Maybe a comment on the how much they sold of these, cause I watched for these information since I actually own a normal, blue R1: they were sold out quickly as hell. The R1M hat to be preordered and was very quickly sold out most over europe. And the normal R1 (at least I can tell from Switzerland) was sold out pretty much end of April beginning of May this year. I assume it wasn't that different in other parts of Europe.

Good video! Are you sure about the R1 being the fastest production bike (non turbo or supercharged)? I think the BMW S1000RR or Ducati Panigale V4 are one of the fastest.

It is good, very good: my real first bike and I put almost 15000 km on it since may 2016. Got my license in January 2016.
