Thank God finally someone has made a video about citreon c1 2016 and above servicing. Well done the video was very easy to follow. Thankyou

You’re welcome, I’m glad you like it. If there’s anything else you need to know on a Mk2 C1, follow me on Instagram (@dabdiy) and ask me via DM. I’ll do what I can to help 👍🏻

Not quite as easy and quick as the 1.0 engine but still easy for anyone with a few tools. Another great informative video. 👍

Access is a little more fiddly on the 1.2, but it’s still easily achievable at home. It’s a good engine though, I really like it.

Great vid. The only thing is the oil filter should only be tightened by hand.

good video again and saved a lot of money and you know your car been service right taking your car to a service station does not mean it will be done right ,if ok to say normally oil filter just hand tight and make sure old seal comes away with filter
@DABDIY3 жыл бұрын
I agree with you, I’d rather do it myself so that I know it’s been done right and save a few quid in the process. The filter was supposed to be hand right plus 1/4 turn, but it would appear that Liz got a little eager with the filter wrench 🤣

I was going to take the oil it through the oil dipstick tube with one of those pumps but now I see the oil filter is on the bottom of the engine there's no point. Time to grease up the old back and go under I guess. Very informative video thanks 👍

Nicely, one point after all last moment with the new oil in the car almost full oil control stick than start the engine because there's no oil in the filter a view minutes warm turning and stop the engine and control The oil hight again and full some oil to bit under the max

Really good video!! Just be care full with the additive added at the oil !! The wet timing belt doesn't like this kind off additive. Moust of this additive a base on some quimicals that are really agresive with rubbers like the timing belt on that engine. But for 10min I don't think will have a big effect.
@DABDIY2 жыл бұрын
We’ve used it every year and we’ve had no problems. Just last month, I had the borescope in the engine to take a look at the belt and it has not seen any damage at all. It’s due to be changed next year anyway, so I’ll make a video on that.

@@DABDIY Yes !! I own a Peugeot 108 1.2 (82cv) with 130.000km. Most of then on the Autobahn in Germany... I'm really happy with the car. I think is time also for my car to change the timing belt. I normally do all the service by my self. I read that normally they recommended to doit at the 180.000km. But for the problems on the 1.2 turbo engine I will like to maked ASAP. What you think??

There’s no harm in changing your timing belt ahead of schedule.

Great video. Just helped me do my wife’s car no problem. My handbook suggested 0w30 oil instead - not sure if it makes much difference 🤷♂️
@DABDIY3 жыл бұрын
0w30 should be fine. The only reason why I used the oil I did is because it’s the same as my Mk1 C1.
@mohammedfarooqaslam3182 жыл бұрын
Just had the citreon c1 serviced by citreon. Yes 0w 30 is actually recommended for this car.
@DABDIY2 жыл бұрын
That’s true, but the oil used is still within manufacturer’s specifications shown in the handbook.
@mohammedfarooqaslam3182 жыл бұрын
Yes your right. You can also use 5w 30. It's absolutely fine. But one thing I noticed when my car came back from citreon. Bear in mind it had oil change and spark plugs. It vibrates a lot more then it did when it went in. Odd I know. Recommend 0w 30. But gives more vibrations.
@mohammedfarooqaslam3182 жыл бұрын
Just in case if anyone is interested. If your citreon c1 doesn't come with a reversing camera. The connection is behind the bumper. If you look behind the bumper you will find a connector. Now this is already connected to the center touch screen. But citreon have cleverly done in in such a way that a novice will get it wrong. But on the connector you will see a black and white wire. Now we will assume the black is negative and white is video in. But NO. black is video in and white is negative. I bought a cheap reversing camera from ebay for around £10. I used power from the reverse light. And connected the video out to those black and white wires. When I put the vehicle in reverse the camera now displays on the touch screen. Just thought I'd put this out there for those who's citreon doesn't come with a reversing camera. If your still not sure. When you remove the rear panel inside the boot. You will find a Grey cable. This is the cable that contains the black and white cable running down behind the bumper. You can cut and connect the video out to there. Bear in mind. Black is video white is negative.

The prospect of a wet timing belt worries me. There have been reports of rubber chunks breaking off & blocking oil galleries. And it doesn't help that PSA recommend a very long replacement interval.
@DABDIY3 жыл бұрын
I thought the same initially, but honestly it’s been a very reliable car. Granted, this particular one is a low mileage example with it being 16 plate and 36,000 miles, but as much as they have a bad reputation, I don’t know if a single Mk2 C1 with this engine to have a problem.
@kieronhoughton42612 жыл бұрын
When I worked for Vauxhall as a tech when they first introduced their PSA line up into Vauxhall’s, there was a memo or Bulletin released saying don’t add any engine oil cleaners/flushers etc because it could degrade the belt. Within about 18 months we were seeing disintegrating belts and bits of rubber blocking up the oil pick up. ✌️

Actually, let me correct myself there. I got them from a local motor factor. I don’t have any information about them to hand.

You should only tight the oil filter by hand, don't use any tool.
@DABDIY2 жыл бұрын
We’re actually both wrong; it should be torqued to 24 Nm, rather than hand tight or by using the tool in the video.
@nunogarcia19722 жыл бұрын
@@DABDIY If you really want to torq it use an oil filter cup. please check, I think it is socket 67-14F.
