Alfredo is a bad ass!! I’ve owned and operated a autoglass shop In north Texas for 38 years. Much respect sir for someone who is not a hack like 90% of the autoglass installers. Especially the ones with the catchy jingle lol!

I wish I saw this before letting them replace my windshield. The guy took the frame out, but when he put it back, it was loose. Looks like the clips broke, and when I was driving, you could hear a strong wind, and eventually, the top frame flew away. If you can tell me the part number, that would be awesome. I have to get someone to replace the whole frame. So upset, I let them change the glass. I have the 2021 MX-5, only 7 months old, and driving with the top frame missing. Super angry, and need to see it fixed.

Just did one of these,last installer epoxied the moldings on, needless to say the moldings came off in pieces, good informative video!!! The clips are stronger than the moldings themselves.

Mazda also does recommend replacing the side and top moldings on the MX-5s. In the service information they state doing so for 2 reasons. One is the plastic clip or the retaining support for the clips. The second is for the thick double sided tape that comes pre applied to the moldings. They are impossible to save and will most likely have to add more on top of the already destroyed tape if you dont have replacements. Something to keep in mind if customers ever ask.

I just tell them it’s needs replacing. You try to save a customer by saving Mouldings and they end up not appreciating the extra effort

Just had mine fly off because the last guy tried to glue it on and didnt even do that right. Where do you buy the moldings from? Straight from Mazda?

Yup. They come painted but they're not cheap. I dont know why Mazda went this direction... about 600 USD for all 3 pieces. And even Mazda says they're a one time fitment.

Hope you then sent that vehicle for the camera to be calibrated as manufacturer states all cameras to require calibration if the windshield is replaced .

We recalibrate every vehicle with ADAS. Check out our other videos. We explained the process of recalibration using our recalibration system.

Most vehicles need to be recalibrated for anything that changes the position of the camera even the slightest bit. Suspension work. window replacement. Some vehicles even require it to be recalibrate every time you get or need a simple alignment. I have yet to see a vehicle needing recalibration about getting new tires and I do this everyday. All in due time I'm sure.

That's a bunch of bs, just a way for dealers and safelite to make more money, after windshield replacement if calibration was needed your dashboard would light up saying safety system failure. How come when recalibrating it never tells you the position?? It's just press the button and bam your recalibrated,such bs just another way to make more money on uneeded procedures!!!!

They need to stop putting those stupid cameras and sensors on a little Miata sports car. The windshield is already so small, nobody wants those sensors on a pure sports car.
