Leave both of the coolant caps off of both reservoir tanks from start to finish. The caps need to be left off so the system can bleed properly.

Nice camera work. Clear microphone work and great enunciation. Very clear explanation for novices. If you ever replace the inverter pump many would find that helpful to have that just as clearly explained. There is very little coverage of inverter pump replacement. Perhaps a little explanation on the coolant you used might be helpful as many think you must use Toyota's overpriced "genuine" ultra long life coolant - which some mechanics are finding not so long life after all with engine coolant pump failures in the 80k mile range. Current wisdom is becoming change coolant at 50k mile intervals for both engine and inverter.

Do you recall how much coolant to refill the system? Thanks for the video, about to do this over the weekend.
@KarelleDIY2 ай бұрын
@@phillychuck You’ll need 2 gallons. You won’t use the entire 2nd bottle though. Maybe only 1/4 or 1/3 of the 2nd bottle.I just filled everything until it was full. And kept topping off after I drove because it would recede a little.

Just did this and now my heater doesn’t work. My guess is there’s air in the system. There’s no bleeder so not sure how to get the air out.
@KarelleDIY3 ай бұрын
@@tonyinfinity Did you leave both of the caps off during the entire process and check to see if the coolant was swirling in the inverter tank before puttting the cap back on?
@KarelleDIY3 ай бұрын
@@tonyinfinity Both reservoir caps need to be left off of the tanks so the system can bleed properly. And Coolant should be swirling around in the inverter tank. If you don’t see it swirling around then there’s probably definitely an air pocket.

@@KarelleDIY Ahh I did not take the cap off the inverter reservoir, I just took the cap off the main reservoir and ran it in maintenance mode for about ten minutes yesterday and the level didn't go down at all and I gave up. I'll try again with both caps off. Thanks
@KarelleDIY3 ай бұрын
@@tonyinfinity Yes, both of the caps need to be left off from start to finish so the system can bleed properly. I should’ve made that clearer in the vid.
@tonyinfinity3 ай бұрын
@@KarelleDIY Well no luck. I just ran it for a good 30 minutes. I could see the coolant circulating in both reservoirs and even took my laser temp gun and checked the temp of the hoses into the firewall to the heater core. Interestingly they were only about 120 degrees. I think there's no coolant going thru the core. I even took the glove compartment off and checked the motors for the blend doors, everything was working. I give up, I guess I'll have no heat.
