Just installed these this morning in 20 minutes on a 2014 RTW. I'm 5'6 and have the Sargent low seat. The pegs are a great price and after one ride they feel great. I installed Wunderlich pegs on my 02 1150rt, with sargent low seat, and they also greatly improved the ergonomics, but at a much higher cost. Thanks for the great idea BoxFlyer.

Great post. I just bought a used 2006 R1200RT. I, too, am 6'2" and in addition have a pretty stiff left hip. I'm definitely going to lower the pegs - as I've done on my two other bikes, but I may look at adding an inch to the seat as well. I ride a f800gs with no problem, as it is a taller bike with lots more leg room.

Thanks. Finding a better position for your hips/knees, or shoulders/back seem to be the key to being able to stay on the bike for longer runs or multiple day rides. I've use this website to see what my body would be subjected to while sitting on bikes in stock form. cycle-ergo.com/

Your service video with Chris is terrific - looking forward to seeing many more on the RTW. Used to service my R1150RT before upgrading to RTW. I noticed you had some special tools for servicing - would be interested to see a vid going through which special tools are essentials, desirables etc. Anything in particular owners should lookout for in between services?

Thanks! Chris and I are working on another video right now about one of the tools in the video series for cam timing that has been reported by several people to be unavailable. It's the cam chain tensioner, and without it there is no way to check, or adjust, the cams properly. tinyurl.com/yafxn6xb I have a DIY method that can be used by just about anyone that is missing this expensive tool. ($217 as of today if available) Almost all the tools I used in the video are listed here: tinyurl.com/yb25xzk9 with links to where to find them. The things I do for "extra" service on my bike, and the other 3 or 4 wetheads I service, are just because of events, not so much miles. An example would be after a day long ride in lots of rain, I examine the holes in the rotors to check for sand or debris build up. If the rotor holes show crud on the back side of the hole ( reference to rotor rotation), then I pull the brake pads and clean the pads as well as clean the rotor holes...it kinda depends on how dirty the road was as to the build up. I did this a couple of days in a row in the hotel parking lot after riding up to Deadhorse, AK where the roads can be messy.

Good video about the lower pegs, and how to adjust the gear shifter - will there not be an adjustment needed for the rear brake pedal on the other side?
@Boxflyer116 ай бұрын
Yes, you can do some minor adjustments to it, I was not sure how to do it when I first made this video 6 and a half years ago. See the *UPDATE* in the Description of the video.

Good video Boxflyer. How's the reach affected on the brake side of the bike? Thank you.
@Boxflyer114 жыл бұрын
Well, it's now slightly more of an effort to get the RH toe above the top of the pedal...but it is normally a change of position of your foot anyway. I don't normally ride with my toe above the contact point on the brake, so like any other time, it's a move of the foot to make contact with the pedal.

**UPDATE** 10/2/20. I finally dug into the option to adjust the foot pedal downward some. It's easy to do by loosening the jam nut on the top side of the clevis yoke that has the pivot pin with cotter pin. By turning the jam nut all the way up tight to the shaft coming out of the brake cylinder, then removing the pivot pin, I was able to get 3 full turns of the clevis yoke and still could tighten the jam nut properly This yielded a full 5/8 of an inch lowered position of the foot brake pedal at the boot contact pad.

I have a ‘18 rt and would like to do this modification but it is difficult now to access my side stand and I feel that any movement forward would make this more difficult. What is your opinion?
@Boxflyer115 жыл бұрын
Hi Davey, I think this may be easier to reach the side stand "heal post". I just measured this peg at 30mm thick from front to rear (across your foot arch) and the OEM peg covered in rubber at 43mm front to rear. I tipped over an '08RT once because I let my foot do something on it's own...no visual backup...never again! Putting my side stand down is definitely a "no distractions" effort now. I also have an Ilium Works Side Stand Enlarger on my side stand...it has it's own additional "heal post" that now is in a clear path behind the installed peg, but I really never use that one, just the OEM "heal post" to deploy the side stand.

Just a word of warning about these pegs. I fitted them about a month ago. The ends of the pegs are rounded but the groves on the end of the pegs are not and have sharp edges, sharp enough to slice a 2 inch tear in my textile trousers just above ankle height. My advice is round off the edges with a file.
@Boxflyer114 жыл бұрын
Good advice...they get rounded off over time with contact on the bottom of the boots.

Thanks for the video. I'm 6'4", 34" inseam, and have a 2015 R1200RT so the lowered foot pegs I think will help. Also looking for a higher seat. What seat are are you using? It would be good to see a video from a taller rider. I've seen several videos focusing on lowering height but not many for this model targeted at raising the seating position. Still have a 2002 R1150RT with a Corbin seat along with a bit higher stock ergonomics and it is very comfortable.

Let's see...I'm 6'2", 34" as well. This is my second bike with a custom +1" seat from Seth Laam in CA. Great for spreading my setting area out too. I have a tall AeroFlow windscreen and Ilium bar backs as well for making things fit my taller size. I've got a spreadsheet with about 45 add-ons or maintenance parts for these "WetHeads"...it's my 3rd boxer, and is a nice advancement of the format.
@jodellus6 жыл бұрын
Looked at the Seth Laam site. Would be great to see a pic of your seat, do you know the height of the seat compared to the stock seat? Sure would like to get a copy of your spreadsheet. Thanks!
