I've been a long time Toyota fan, and have owned more than 5 Toyota's, in fact we are currently a two Toyota family! The CHEVY Colorado, with the Duramax diesel engine and all the other creature comforts has finally given the Tacoma some serious competition! I'm leaning towards a Chevy Colorado now instead of the 2016 redesigned Tacoma!

This video helped me get the same truck, only with LT not Z71. It must be known that that truck has a lot less cushion in the seat than my 2002 ram I traded. Why is that notable? With out the running boards, the plastic seat trim hurts getting out of the truck. My left thigh hurts from only a week owning this truck, I wish I got the nerf bars. They will be my first mod, other than that, great review and great truck. Wife thought I just wanted add one until she experienced the trim for herself. I'm only 145 lbs, so I would imagine it would be more noticeable if a person weighed more. Something to consider during your test drive folks.

To add, the shifter should read M not L. It's not low, it's manual, or manual gear select using the shifter's micro switches, i.e. tiptronic for you German sports car folk..

I know this is an old video but I have a few questions since I just got a 2016 used colorado z71. 1. You mentioned at 25:45 we will be getting android auto, I recently haven't have been able to have it work with it, do I have to go to a dealer and tell them about it? 2. I noticed that when you clicked on Navigation it showed off the whole map as if you were in google maps. Do I have to have a subscription with OnStar in order to get this? 3. I have noticed as well that you have the Weather app which I do not have, is this only equipped for LT? Again, I have the Z71 tier. Any answers will help me out as I feel like I got ripped off now that I think about it.

your description of direct injection was incorrect. Traditional "port injection" mixes the air and fuel prior to passing through the intake valve of the cylinder head. In this case, the fuel injectors are attached to the intake manifold. In a direct injection setup, the air passes through the intake valve, but the fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber at much higher pressure which allows more accurate control of the air-fuel mix, which allows the engine to run more efficiently and take advantage of a high compression ratio (combustion chamber volume vs cylinder displacement) compared to the older port injection system. It also allows the injection timing to be controlled independently compared to the valve timing (controlled with the VVT system) as well as the ignition (spark) timing. Source: i'm an engineer; my senior project was working on a Formula SAE racecar.

Direction injection is injecting fuel into the combustion chamber AFTER the intake valve is closed. In a direct injection, only air is entering the combustion chamber when the intake valve is open, no fuel is entering the combustion chamber at that time. Fuel injection is injecting fuel into the intake runner so fuel + air enter the combustion chamber when the intake valve is open.

Just bought my wife a 2106 Z71 with trail Boss package, with tax it was north of $40k. Nicely equipped Silverados are on special and could have picked up one with a V8 for $35k but too large for our needs. Looked at Tacoma and all I can say is Toyota has long way to go to catch up...

Thanks for the great review. Despite this one not being a Z71 but an LT, it is great. I'm seriously considering one of these later this year. I work in an urban setting so the slightly smaller size is good and the backup camera is a must but it's big enough to tow whatever I want and will be great for tailgating next season.

hi derrick, i do like the chevy but im also seriously looking at tacoma. Im a 3 time past toyota truck guy and those engines last forever. Im also a past chevy s10 blaser owner who trany blew up after 3 months on road. and also i had 1994 yukon for only a week and engine wouldn't not start. I'v had nothing buy problems with chevy trucks, so i went to toyota and had several trucks by them, and never had any issues at all. good luck on your choice.

don't buy the baby duramax unless you plan on using it for work . it's not for showing off getting a ghetto ass 6 inch lift and taking it offroad. the V6 will be just fine for most people.

What an excellent unit! I've got an Escape, but want a smaller truck too. I've been looking at Kijiji for used Ford Ranger / Mazda B4000 units, but they want a lot for them ... up to $22,000 in Canada. Yikes!! The Chevy has really been catching my attention though and finally they've hired some designers, cuz lets face it GM has been flat as far as appeal goes with their vehicles for some time, but Hey! they just, in the last 2 or 3 years, got it together and now they are right up there. So, well done GM ... and what a cool slightly smaller truck. I'm in once I've paid off the SUV. -BJ

This trim is totally different, I have a 2015 colorado z71 and the grill is all matte black and the wheels are dark argent metallic alloy, but this one has bright alloy. I also notice the other side of the bed says 4X4 and the other side is z71 that's kind hilarious.

Mike, The truck you are showing is LT optioned not Z71. Someone slapped a Z71 sticker (on one side no less) and you state it has Z71 off road package. That is false advertising my friend. If Jud Kuhn Chevrolet put the sticker on, they are dishonest. If they didn't, that does not speak well for GM and dealer quality assurance.

Manual transmissions I'm not sure if they came out on those LTZ and Z71 but if you get an extended cab work truck there's manual transmissions in those and then you can fix it up like a Z71
