The water was coming from a leak in the rear glass. If you pull your C pillar and spray the hose (or just wait for the rain) on that outside corner, you should see the drip. The video shows where the drip is coming from.

@@SolarBurrito I bought a 2018 Raptor. haha. I'm not sure if your going to get much help from the dealer on this. They originally tried to use some liquid sealant, applied from the outside of the truck, but this did not work. The dealer stated that they would have to remove the rear glass if this fix did not work. I went back in when the leak started again, and they just wanted to try the liquid sealant again. Pulling the back glass is not a small job, and I'm sure the dealer did not want to do this due to the fact that they dont get paid much for warranty work. Im sure if your vehicle is out of warranty they would most certainly charge you out of wazoo and fix it properly for you. haha. I know the ford "Leak Technician" stated that he was constantly seeing f150's coming in with leaks, but had never seen it come from the back glass. I would keep checking around to see if you can find this problem with other people and maybe get ford to acknowledge that this needs to be a recall. If not, a dealer will drag their feet all day long on this issue, while your interior just rots away. Or trade it in for an 17 or 18. I have not heard of any issues with the newest years, nor have I had any issue with my 18 raptor.

Kevin Eakin I bought a 2018 raptor and it is in the shop for the 3rd time with water leaking in. They told me they are replacing the carpet and going to see if it happens again. They said “we couldn’t find the leak, it might have been wet from the last time they fixed it”. I told them with new carpet there is no more excuses if it does it again I am buying a dodge.

Had a similar issue with my 2017 lariat fx4. They said it was a door seal and clogged sunroof line. My carpet was soaked front and rear and water filled the floorboards on the sides like this video. You could hear the water slosh back and forth. They fixed it but for good measure I drilled holes in the floors under kick plates where the water sits. Lifted up the wire harness and drilled done holes so the water, if any, could drain out before soaking the carpet. No more issues!

Heavy rains fill my driver side floor pan without fail. It seems to me when you shell out $40,000 or more for a truck the very least thing it should NOT do is LEAK WHEN IT RAINS! NO MORE FORDS!
@johntrincia29913 жыл бұрын
The biggest problem is the third brake light gasket. Possible rear glass gasket . My 2009 was the junk gasket on the brake light. I made the dealer fix it and replace the carpets, they will never dry without removing

If you park with the nose up in the driveway water may roll down the back of the cab and get into the vents on the back of the cab (look between the cab and the bed for the vents) Vent get loose. I suspect this with mine after parking nose up in the rain (it's been dry for months until today)

So you traded your truck in because of the issue for another truck that’s practically the same and might end up with same issue because apparently it’s pretty common... I’m also having a leak in the rear

I am having the same problem too with my 2016 Platinum. Water draining down to the kick plate, wet carpets, etc. I’m afraid if I take it to the dealership, they won’t find the problem and charge me a lot for it. Considering trading it in but not for a Ford anymore. How did you fix it?
@kevineakin87125 жыл бұрын
Next time it’s raining, start pulling off your A and C pillars. That is how I found the leak in the back glass on mine. The dealer tried to fix it with some liquid caulking as they did not want to remove the rear glass and replace the seal (which would be a big job). I got tired of dealing with it so I traded mine in for an 18 Raptor. Best decision I’ve ever made!!! Hope you guys get it figured out.

I had a 2016 as well that leaked water all over. Was on my 3rd work order to have it claimed a lemon, because it will grow mold and then not a Ford dealer would touch it. Called Ford and they stated that all dealer ships are privately owned and can not be forced to take the truck in.

I keep fartin' around with the idea to get an F150 with the dual pane but you've convinced me, sorry about your troubles. Did the dealership do anything under warranty?
@kevineakin87125 жыл бұрын
The leak ended up coming from the back glass. The dealership tried to seal it from the outside (without removing back glass), but this fix didn’t work. I had it scheduled to be fixed again, but ended up trading it in for a raptor. As far as the dual panel roof, I never used it in my limited once, and I haven’t used it in my raptor. They are nice, but I never even remember I have it. Point being, it probably is a waste of money.

Exactly the same issue, glad someone figured it out! It killed the camera in my rearview mirror, for the auto high beams/ lane stay system. Incidentally at the same time as they did the recall on the cruise control. Tried to charge me $700 to replace it. After a year of fighting them, after warranty expired... I got Ford to cover it. We just got rid of it. After all the other issues it started having. Fyi the running boards take a dump around 70k miles too. (Having talked to 10 people with the same issue and search ford forums.)
@ahughes2384 жыл бұрын
Oh the irony. Mine was leaking water (15 platinum) the control module went crazy on me, caused the truck to shudder like the engine was about to snap of the frame. Happened on a highway 4 times. I thought it was so random. The truck threw about a hundred different codes, fried some components (camera in rear view mirror for lane stay etc).
@Sheeeeeeeeeeeeiiitt2 жыл бұрын
Any of y’all narrow it down? Would adding silicone or flex seal spray to the door jams where I see that foam material remedy the issue? Is that the general area you are referring to? I see where water is coming out of the grommet behind the drive side hood release and the grommet behind the passenger fuse panel (inside the cab) but need to stop the water from getting into the panel itself. I live in Florida and hurricane season is picking up. Thanks for any feedback.

@@ahughes238 Same issue in my 2013 Extended cab XLT - it could be the rear window, rear brake light, or exterior channels in the corners with black plastic pieces and rivets. But my truck also seems to have a leak in the lower front windshield, because I had it covered with a tarp on the roof and halfway down the front windshield, and I still found water in my rocker panel channels. It is just stunning that after 100 years, Ford still can't build a vehicle that keeps the rain out.
@ahughes2384 жыл бұрын
@sheshr We figured out the leak is somewhere around the windshield. Had to drive with one hand catching the water as it poured in. It was coming out of the handle on the pillar, another time coming out by the E-brake. Had weather tech mats in front with a 2" deep pool of water. This after having Ford try to find the problem, they charged $50 to diagnose it and claimed it was resolved, very next day it rained had it leak into the dash this time and come out over the steering wheel. The locks freezing was the final straw, this after having had them already replaced for the very same reason. 3 XL buckets of Damprid over a short time frame. Always embarrassed to take anyone in the truck. We got rid of it and won't buy another Ford. (3rd F150, I've owned).
