2016 F150 Sunroof Won’t initialize

I had the common F150 issue where the sunroof rails cracked and the sunroof wouldn’t open and close properly. So I:
1. Replaced the rails
2. Greased the window edges
3. Aligned/ synced the arms that move the window. They were about 6 inches off from each other.
After doing all that I can’t get it to close properly. It appears that it needs to be reset or recalibrated. However I followed the procedure and I can’t get it to go into calibration mode.
Any ideas what I need to do to get it initialized?

which screw will you loosen?

Not sure I understand your question. I loosened the screws holding the motor so that the drive gear could spin freely without driving the sunroof. Then with the motor loose I homed the motor and retightened. This was a few years ago at this stage so I don’t remember exactly.

Yes. The problem was that the sunroof is so far out of calibration that it can’t even initialize. What I did was I got it as close to closed as I could by start/stopping the window. Then I loosened the 3 screws holding the motor as in the video link below. I didn’t have an angle drill but a ratchet worked fine. Once you loosen the motor then start the truck and hit close. Obviously the window won’t move but the motor will go to where it thinks the close position is. Now tighten up the motor and try to initialize again. @@paulmurphy603 I tried that multiple time guess mine is so out of calibration ill have to try again. But ill will wait till warmer weather. As I was able to manually close with and Allen key. Thanks. Let's hope it doesn't happen again. Very bad design.

@@richardroy3707 I agree - very bad design. I’m dealing with a mold issue in my truck because of the resulting leak. Are you sure that the motor is completely disengaged when you are telling it to close? I had to back the screws way out - almost to the point where they were on the last thread - and then pull it down to get it to disengage.

@@paulmurphy603 I think I can remove those screws with my eyes closed now. That's how many times I attempted it

@@richardroy3707 one more thing - I’m guessing you already have done this but just in case make sure that the plastic sliders on both sides are perfectly aligned. Otherwise I have no idea - I hope you figure it out.
