probably from behind the windshield; either the windshield seal at the bottom corner was not applied correctly and is missing a large portion or the body seam where the roof panel meets the cab at the top corner has cracked

I have a 2017 F150 XLT supercrew with the double panel moon roof with a leak. The drain tube were not connected on the passenger side. Dealer took care of it. Make sure you keep a record of your eng idle hours you don't want them drying your interior by idling your truck and running the heat if it's a warranty issue.

Drain hose from the water rail on top of the roof have come off midway before the water is carried to the ground. The tubes are not clamped and only friction fit. They are located in the side front pillars.

I read something about the roof track seems in top of the cab. The 2 channels that run down each side. Possibly small cracks located in the aluminum 👎 welded together up there. My thinking is aluminum fatigue due to flexing of the truck. I have a 2019 f350 longbed with dual sunroof and I'm having this issue, and buyer remorse right now. I'll be at the dealer first thing in the morning. 😤

Working thru this same issue on a 2016 f150 crewcab, no sunroof nor back sliding window. We've had small drips of water at the brake pedal for a bit now (over a year?) but nothing major at all, even thru a PNW winter. This year though that changed as I started to see more and more water on the brake pedal and drivers side floor was getting wet, no puddles but definitely wet. No water anywhere else ... or so I thought. We had our windshield replaced this summer (for other reasons) so understandably I went back to them first. Windshield was fine so he directed me to the rear headliner ... water stains along the whole rear right above headrests. Crap. He said the 3rd brake light is likely the culprit, indicating they've seen it many times. First I caulk around the 3rd brake. This appears to have helped a little as I'm not seeing any clear signs of new water in the headliner, but still getting a bit of water at the brake pedal. Next day (we've had a lot of rain this month) floor is clearly wet, but I also notice the caulking has completely shrunk, basically making it worthless. I order a new 3rd brake light and put that on. Next day it rains (again, hard) ... no water in the headliner at all, but brake pedal has drips and a small amount of water still on the carpet. So ... either the 3rd brake light design is clearly faulty or there's more going on here. Next up is sealing the rear windshield, which I'm doing today. Hopefully that fixes it.

I’m having the same problem. I ran a garden hose at different spots on the windshield. After trial and error and flooding my truck, I believe l found it. The lower drivers corner of the windshield dumps inside the wheel well, and behind the panel of the parking break. I noticed 2 holes in the metal wall that are plugged with rubber grommets. One of my grommets was missing. I plugged it up and will monitor, but l watched water pour in and stop after the repair. Good luck

It leaks a drip by the brake pedal, they said that was from windshield. ***UPDATE: Okay, update on my 2016 F150 (no moonroof), soaking passenger floorboard and a pond under the sill plate as shown in this video. Took my truck to Ricart Ford, Columbus OH. Apparently this is such a common problem that there’s a specialist that comes in every Friday to fix these water leak issues. So, I had to wait 3 weeks for scheduling but they fit me in. Work order states that leak is confirmed and body seams resealed. $200. I can’t confirm yet, as it was just repaired on Friday; but I can absolutely hear less road/wind noise. The cab of my truck is so much quieter now. Crazy stuff. I expect a class action suite at some point...chalking it up to Ford learning how to build with aluminum.

I have a 2017 F-150 XLT 4WD super crew with very similar problem.... for the past 2 1/2 months it has spent more time at the Ford dealer service garage than it has at my house.. Their body shop has found nothing... I've had to do most of the successful investigating myself. It is actually leaking from the bottom of the door then onto the 'scuff panel' (plastic threshold cover) and running into that channel that you mentioned. It then fills up then channel which then overflows and then is 'wicked' into the carpet padding. After the weather warmed up in the springtime it began to mold and began to stink very bad, giving me a terrible head ache. Now that I have figured out how the carpet got saturated you would think the dealer could figure out how it gets into the door to begin with,,, not so... Still trying to figure that part out. will update as I find out.

Ok, I think I know how to fix it. I had the same thing going on, but on the passenger side. carpet was soaked and standing water in the foot well where the wires are. First you want to remove the foot well housing and vacuum out all the water with a shop vac. Also pull back the soaked carpet. I used Vic grips and a bungie to keep the carpet lifting exposing the floor board so it can dry. Get a some trimmer wire and open your sunroof. There are two drain holes in the front to corners of the sunroof. Place the wire down the holes so you can unclog the sunroof drain spouts. It took me a good 2 mins to unclog the drain on the passenger side sunroof. Then test out the drain by pour water in the drain holes while your sunroof is open. You should hear the water pouring down the A pillar of you vehicle. You should also see and hear the water pouring out underneath you vehicle. I poured approx. 64oz of water in the drains to make sure all the debris came out. Hopefully this was the fix in your vehicles too. I'll come back in a few days and give you an update if that was the fix for my vehicle. I'm pretty sure this will be the fix.

Mine was leaking where the roof rail pillars meet the back window as well as the back window itself. They had to seal up both roof rail places and remove and resealed rear window as there were problems around many rivets where water would come in as well. I have a 2018 F-150 and my passenger side is leaking. Ford is not covering it and my warranty is not covering it. It is going to cost me 1,000 to have ford replace my ac box and seal. 👎 I’m calling Ford tomorrow to see if they will fix it my truck only has 39,000 miles. If they don’t fix it. I’ll fix it and I think I’ll trade it for a Toyato or a GMC truck

Probably just your A/C drain weeping back into the truck. There's a TSB for it. You remove the little metal sleeve on the drain spout, trim or cut off the "chin" tab on the bottom of it, and install a 90 degree elbow hose and that fixes nearly all of them.

I have a 2007 Ford F150 doing the same thing every time it rains. No sunroof, no XM radio antenna on the roof. What did the dealer say Erinn Kohler? I need to fix this asap. 404-919-8963

These trucks are complete garbage. It’s the first and only Ford I’ve ever bought. Pathetic engineering and piss poor quality.

You know how you can figure it out ..... by taking it to a dealer

That's the best way to not find the leak and get financially screwed in the process.

After the first three trips to the dealer and them finding nothing, I ripped the seats and carpet out and dusted with baby powder. I was able to trace the leaks to the rear window and 4 cab vents. I then took it BACK to the dealer to show them what they couldn't find. They just sealed everything up fore and I got it back this morning so we'll see.

That’s assuming the dealership you take it to gives a fuck. The majority of the customers have no problem paying dealerships to perform repairs or diagnostic work. Its pretty much an understanding you are going to pay higher labor and parts cost at a dealership however what burns people is the lack of transparency, and integrity. I imagine many of the honest techs either walk or eventually learn to play ball cause they have to feed a family too (pathetic, but I get it). So much so it becomes the norm. Starts from the top down. The service manager and works it way down to advisers and techs. Mistakes and oversights happen…and again any reasonable person would have to agree. But more often than not it always comes back to the customer having the burden of proof placed on them. Nothing effects the bottom line.
