I reviewed the RS a couple days ago and overall I think it's a really impressive car. It is stiff as hell though and I see no reason for this. It may be track-focused, but with the adjustable suspension Ford could have programmed a wider range of damping. The trick awd system and the motor are real standouts.

ive launched mine 2 times. and i can tell you for a 100% fact that if you put it in sport FIRST, the. hold the traction control button down for 5 seconds it launches noticibly harder and is way easier to drive fast.

it's better though the car is a bit lower and stiffer which will work against it a bit in the snow but the AWD is better

Everyone says the same thing about this car. Its obviously a HOT car. I'm glad there was no mention of the B's drift mode. Speed does not equal value though. Even if it were quicker than the M2, all that would mean is, it's quicker than the M2 on that track. The good thing is all the cars are tested on the same track. Just about everyone agrees it's a better track car than the golf R

It's definitely the enthusiasts' choice for speed and handling in the UK, but is a bit of a working class hero; personally, if I wanted a performance car, I'd go for the slightly classier image of the BMW M2 or Golf Type R.

The price difference is similar between these models in the UK and the BMW would be more expensive to maintain, but has good residual value. On further reflection, I'd actually buy an Audi S3 hatchback - great car, classy, but not so much hooligan fun as the Focus or M2.

Fords Focus was plagued by the DCT, its a Getrag unit its a 3rd party gear supplier, the regular 6 speed AT of Ford fares much much better Apart from transmission the Focus is damn reliable, the same Focus U guys get in US is available in Asia and Europe as well but without the crappy DCT and with manual gearbox, its fantastic specially with 1.5 ecoboost and manual The Focus es in US with manual will never have much reliability issues, the RS is a legend, its a car that has got so much cult status that even the worlds biggest auto maker VW couldnt stand against it

Grant Rainwater I own a Fiesta ST, as well as a Fiesta 1.0 ecoboost, the 1.0 ecoboost really surprised me and led me to buy the ST, But while on market I test drove the VT and sure its got lot of straight line poke but is no where near as fun to drive as an ST There is more turbo lag to deal with in the VT compared to ST, and body control,rotation etc of Fiesta ST is leaps and bounds above the VT

The fact that it spends most of its time in front wheel drive and the rear differential overheats on track days which causes you to have turn the ignition off for two minutes then re-start to get AWD back. Good street car but that's about it.

What's really remarkable is the BMW X6 M is only 0.28 seconds slower than the Focus RS. Or, to put it another way, a "not hot" SUV(?) is practically as quick around a tight track as a really great car. Strange, but true !!!!

the main problem that I have seen is that Ford is not making enough of them and they are price gouging because one will pop up at a dealership here and there and the dealers want to make people bid on them and pay more than what the car is listed for and for that reason I would just buy a WRX or STI

I would still take the Golf R over this Focus RS. Focus may be quicker on the track, but suspension is much stiffer and will beat the hell out of you. For something much more refined, comfortable, and almost as fast...I'll take the VW R.

The Golf R is an utter bore, so much understeer and so little fun, they are not even close. The RS feel so much more special. The GTi was actually more fun than the R

Yeah I think the Golf R has a different purpose. No doubt the Focus RS has better handling and is faster. But Golf R is a better daily driver and is still a heck of fun. I guess it comes down to what you need from a car. Everything on eleven for track time or 9.5 and with more comfort? I like that both offers manual transmission and not having this option is kind of a deal breaker for me

Weight. It would off balance it. Plus its not needed. This 4 cylinder puts out 45 more HP and only 18 less lb-ft torque than the 5.4L triton V8 in my '07 f-150.

The Focus RS has no reliability problem As of now its problem is the RDU overheats if one tracks the car for over 15 mins continuously , Ford says 30 mins of hard track use but in reality with 15 mins the oil temps will rise and will shut down RDU of we keep on pushing There is no other reliability issue, this is something everybody will have to face, even an STI heats up pretty bad after 15-20 mins of hard track use, the EVOx will bake its brakes and scare the hell out of U after 15-20 mins The Golf R goes really soft in brakes department after 10-15 mins of track use as well, but no oil temp issue like in RS

+Ponygt 662 that's true of GTR's and Vette's too, really only Porsches/Ferraris and McLarens can do continuous lapping stock. The good news is the aftermarket will hook you up! Diff coolers, ducting, pads and fluid and anything else they need is in the works from several manufacturers. Sure we'll see plenty at SEMA this year

How do you feel about the interior? Do you think it matches the aggressive looks of the exterior? I personally find the interior of the new Civic Type R to outshine the RS' interior. To me, the interior of the new Type R looks to be a more "special" place to be in.

I think the interior is sharp, color scheme, ergonomics and functionality are all excellent, the recaros are perfect. Admittedly they could have made it a little less focusy, but it's cool. I understand why you'd like the type r interior more, but I personally think it's too gaudy, cartoonish and pointlessly overdone, but that's just my opinion. If you like it more, power to ya bro👊
