My mom just got one today a 2016 enegri and im trying to fig out when to use the ev and why does it only get 15 miles on ev like im so confused on how this car is suppose to work
@pauld69679 ай бұрын
@matthewhughes4092 I have a 2016. Your battery may have degraded but I suspect the bigger cause is cold temperatures. When it is around 60° mine will typically show a max "free" electron range of 17 or 18 miles at full charge before switching to hybrid mode. If the outside temperature is around 75° it will show between 20 & 25 miles at full charge. The hotter it is, the more the battery will take in and retain. If you are highway driving and want to try and preserve the "free electrons" for when you are back in town, use the EV+ mode. Personally, I charge overnight, run it in EV Mode until that charge is depleted and let it automatically switch to Auto Mode (hybrid) & enjoy the 50+ miles per gallon.

The better you drive the more miles you get. When I got the Energi a few weeks ago I was at 15 miles per charge now I’m at 20

@silentgrind34 also mine is stuck in ev auto it's been like that since I got car about 6 months ago. I've had no problems so I don't even think that's matters! Also will the car run without any gas ??? Of so for how long?

@@matthewhughes4092 What do you mean by stuck in ev auto? What happens when you try to switch to later Is the car not charging?

It may be a trim level thing, my Energi is Titanium trim, but there is another method. The doors will unlock when I reach my hand into the door handle as long as the keyfob is in my pocket. The car can be locked by touching a finger to the ridges on the door handle. Being able to charge 240 volts at home and 120 volts at the office has really saved me a ton of money spent on gasoline. Being a PHEV, there is zero range anxiety because once the plug-in charge is depleted, the normal hybrid battery power remains, so I am still getting 50+ m.p.g. when it automatically defaults back to hybrid mode. Zero range anxiety. FYI: the J1772 cable he shows is the Electic Vehicle Sevice Equipment (EVSE) and is a connection cable. The actual AC to DC converter/charger is inside the car.

It probably is because mine has a physical key and I’m guessing yours is a push button start?
@pauld69677 ай бұрын
@@RepTechMedia08 Possibly. Yes, mine is push-button-start/shutdown.

So in EV mode it never switches to the gas motor?
@justinking5540 Жыл бұрын
It will switch after you run fully out of EV and switch to hybrid mode which is gas and electric but you also have regenerative brakes .
@PheonixClack10 ай бұрын
@@justinking5540That only happens if the range of the trip is more than the car. It never comes on at all for the people using it to just drive around town. This is why they installed a gas cycle protocol where it forces the car to turn on the gas engine and cycle the gas out through usage.

I'm only getting 12 miles with a full battery, when i'm supposed to be getting 22 miles. What am i doing wrong? Mind i am only using a 120V charge at work.

I still get 21-24 sometimes on my 16. The range drops with temperature for sure.

I love this thing. Problem is finding one. Not to mention there’s not many on the road, up in MA at least. I’ve only ever seen 3 other Energi models.

@@RepTechMedia08 Not too surprising. Those of us who have them, can charge and home and at the office have zero motivation to give them up.

Pass on the energi. Too much trunk space robbed by the batteries. The normal hybrid is sufficient enough

I've had a 2013 Fusion energi for 6 years, mine is nearly identical to yours except mine is a titanium and idk man your trunk looks bigger than mine wtf? I currently have 160,000 miles on mine and have had ZERO issues with it. I just changed the spark plugs, brake pads and rotors. The front brake pads and rotors looked just fine and would have been fine for much longer. The rear brake pads are smaller and needed to be replaced but even then they still weren't terrible. Its been a great car and has been super cheap to drive. I was driving a 2002 Chevy blazer before it and I've been saving a couple thousand $$ a year just in gas savings alone. For being 10 years old, its styling has held up great, some people have been shocked when I tell them how old my fusion is. However, I would say If I could go back in time I would have just gone with the fusion hybrid and not the energi. The energi's trunk is just to small and useless. I also don't ever plug in and charge my energi its just not convenient for me or worth it. The 20 mile EV only range is a lie, never went 20 miles EV only, on a good day its about half that. But if a hybrid is what you want, honestly a prius is probally better only because aftermarket hybrid battery replacements are much easier and possible. But the older Priuses are ugly as hell. Also, the Energi's battery is so big, I haven't found anywhere that offers a replacement and if they did, it would cost so much that it wouldn't make financial sense to go ahead with it anyways. With current car prices being as ridiculous as they are now. I full intend on driving my Fusion until the engine just blows up or the battery dies for good. Guess I'll see how long it'll really last.

I often get far more than 20 miles on a charge. During the winter I will agree it is less, but specifically over the summer when I unplug it, it would say 25 miles, but it would get me closer to 30.
