Thank you for the manual way. Have the 2018 civic si had no idea what the actuator looked like. Thanks to this video I do know now. For those trying this. Make sure you do this on flat surface and not leveled surface. The car moves extremely easy with the electronic brake off and away from other cars. I just turned the knob with my finger that was covered in fluid after taking off the electronic brake actuator and it turned clockwise until it stopped spinning. Put the wheel back on, hand tighten the lugs and recalibrated the brakes first by pressing on it a good 10-20x and then recalibrated the electronic brake which worked flawless. Thank you again for the great video!

Thank you for this video, I had a hard time at work the other day when I took off the bracket and caliper, then when it came to retracting the piston I went inside the car and released the Parking break because my dumbass thought it would let me wind it back manually. The piston ended up expanding and falling out of the caliper, leaking, and the parking brake system was not working. Then I put it into maintenance mode, and ALL THE DRIVING ASSISTS were not working, and the car wouldnt start as the scanner i plugged in was telling me the car was only getting 9.0Volts. I was so pissed off but I learned my lesson, and every honda I work on Ill scan. Thanks for the video!

Good explanation. If you conduct a proper brake in for the New pads/rotors, there isn't a need to be careful on them for 500mi. Do a couple 35mph slow braking sessions w/o completely stopping, then one at the same speed and doing a hard stop. Then get up to 50mph and do two sessions of hard braking w/o completely coming to a stop and you are done. - The pads will mesh with the new rotors with just enough heat (as described) and you'll be good to go :-)

I didn't understand a comment you made near the end. You said something about not having to reposition the parking brake motor spindle relative to the caliper drive, after turning the piston drive on the caliper clockwise . Is the brake motor gear free wheeling or does it have definite stops forward and backward? If the motor has forward and reverse limits, then it would require synchronization with the caliper piston position. If the motor is free wheeling, then the repositioning the motor spindle to the caliper drive wouldn't matter. In other words, can the motor be replaced onto the caliper without regard to the motor gear's position? (As it will be different from the position it was in when removed due to the piston adjustment).

Sadly i didnt see your Video first. I did everything like expected but didnt calibrate it twice before starting the motor. i did it just once and got those warnings youre talking about at the end. Is there a way to get rid of these warnings without software or disconnecting the brakemotors again?

Not sure about that, haven't had that problem yet. Could try doing the recalibration steps a few times and see if that gets rid of it. Maybe disconnect battery

I have the same issue, the dash is flashing and beeping non stop to "disengage the parking brake" but I can hear it disengage.
@lz28112 жыл бұрын
I fixed my problem! to describe my issue better: i had 3 Orange warnings that said the following but i didnt have a non stop beeping. -brake hold (to tell that brake hold doesnt work) - something like "VS" -something like "ER" or "EG" After all it was my mistake since i didnt connect the cable from the brake motor properly again. Once i did that now, i calibrated the parking brake again and no warnings anymore.

Hey brother if you have a cheap obd2 scanner can you do it with that or do you have to buy 1 of those expensive ones
@JonnyDIY Жыл бұрын
You need a more expensive scan tool (should be under $500) that has the capability to put in "epb (electric parking brake) service mode" if you want to do it with a scan tool. Otherwise you'll have to do as I did. Now if you want to clear codes there's cheaper scan tools around 200 or less that'll clear the brake codes and abs
