Always enjoy you videos, I am retired and just bought a 07 outback trailer, it was kept indoors in the winter and I do not want to make it leak by saying this but I have looked all over and can not find any evidence of a single water leak or delam and I have never seen this vintage outback that did not have front de-lamination ! I am a do it your selfer to an extent you would not believe, I plan on doing the roof next winter its the original so I plan on trying to mimic your work, you said you almost always re deck the roofs, well cant wait to see what awaits me under the old TPO. FyI the reason the aluminum trusses in the Bullet hear are so thin is that they are galvanized steel, thin but very strong if kept vertical, and as you found out a course thread works good on them! yes all these RVs are substandard overall quality but I believe its the complete lack of workmanship is the real problem, caused by way too fast work forced my the mfg company! through it together and shove it out the door! I know your videos are for your customers and advertising but you will always have some guys that are not smart enough to make allot of money so they can have things done for them and will either do it them selves or do without, I am one of those two guys, thx be well, Mark R

Enjoy watching your repairs and the pride the shop takes in doing things the right way. Your comment below from a few months ago says a lot about your business and ethics,,,".but really we are doing what our customers entrusted us to do." It would be great if all businesses operated by this principle!

It would be great if all business had a better quality attitude. We are not a corporate America shop with a CFO telling us we can only use or buy cheap materials. We are old school. I don't like being snookered by a mechanic shop when I bring my trucks in and I won't let that happen to our customers. If my guys can't do quality clean work...well I got 6 doors they can get gone through. That's why I only have the one shop. Hard to find guys or gals on the quality page. The roofs are the easiest part. It's all the repairs and reengineering I have to do before the roof that takes the time. Checking for compromised wires and AC ducts. Checking for sound framing...not split or rotted. Thanks for watching.

Looks like a job well done to me...this roof is not only water tight now but also went from not walkable to walkable with the thicker decking and the trusses strapped correctly.

I was going to look at buying a used 2014 Keystone Bullet and this video convinced me that I want to purchase a camper with better bones. I prefer fiberglass over aluminum siding and I like the idea of a lightweight aluminum frame. What manufacturers do it right? I also want to be able to walk on my roof. That Bullet wasn’t strong enough to walk on. We currently have a Wolf Pup that I can walk on. It has aluminum exterior and I think the framing is wood. We are looking to go a bit larger.

If you started your own RV business and sold RV’s that your shop built, I would buy without hesitation.

We have ideas on a truck bed camper and bumper pulls. No fancy fancy stuff,, just quality built long lasting campers. We are so overwhelmed with repairs and short handed we have even attempted anything. Thanks for watching.

@@RVROOFINSTALL that would be awesome!! You are on the right side when it comes to knowing what works and what doesn’t, you’ve seen it all. The heat weld tpo should be mandatory. After watching your videos, we refuse to buy a new rv just to have it rotted in 5 years. We have an old rotten one that we inherited and are going to attempt to fix, it may be to far gone to bring back, but we need to try. Hoping under $5k will get it leak proof and solid again. We don’t do fancy either, we need functional.

Can you do a video talking about what you think is the best trends for RV roof, wall, seam designs? It would be good to know what to look for when buying new(er). Everyone on a budget should buy one of these pieces of crap you show to make mistakes with (scrape trees, back into rocks, hit low hanging stuff) but eventually you should hopefully graduate to buy something that is newer, nicer and built right. You're videos showing failures are very interesting. I have a 2006 toyhauler trailer that's failing just as you show countless times. When I saw in the trailer owners manual instructions, even before I noticed problems, that owner should seal seams and inspect caulking I new it was a mistake to buy it. Why can't manufactuers build RV's economically without so many weaknesses and so much maintenance?

I would love to see a video that incorporates all the best building strategies! And then outline the manufacturers who implement them!

Hello I see you say to use a primer before you seal along the edge of a rubber roof. What is the primer and what kind of sealer do you recommend. Thanks

Any membrane primer will work. You can use Rapid available at Home Depot...OSI Quad. I would lean more towards the Rapid. Last i knew that had it in the cement section. Thanks for watching!

So this trailer is only 4 years old? I bet that the water started leaking within the first season of ownership. How much was this repair job? An initial purchase of $50k? and a $10k repair shortly thereafter hardly seems worth it. Manufacturers should be ashamed of themselves. Thanks for the video, I enjoy seeing the build/repair process. Helps me figure out what to look out for when looking for a second hand trailer, because there's NO WAY I'd buy new with that kind of workmanship. It's no wonder they wont back up their products with any (reasonable) warranty. Can we get a video of the best practices from manufacturers please.

Almost every travel trailers are horrifying junk. The manufacturers are hyper focused on reducing costs. They only last a few years before they fall apart. If owners are not very skilled and sharp eyed about maintenance constantly - the RV's are just a headache.
