Just a quick video showing how I replaced the rear brake pads & rotors/drums on a 2016 Kia Sorento.
Tools needed:
Large Flat blade screwdriver or small prybar
or Caliper Compression tool, C-Clamp or similar
14mm socket and/or wrench
Breaker bar or long handled socket wrench
No. 3 Phillips Impact Screwdriver or similar
Torque Wrench
Wire Brush
Brake parts cleaner

I just discovered before I started to replace the rear brake pads on my 2016 Sorento SXL that has electronic parking brakes (EPB) that there is an additional requirement to unlock the parking brakes - this in more than just making sure the parking brakes are not engaged. Not doing this can reportedly mess up the parking brakes and create a hassle with error messages. I think there should be a heads up disclaimer about additional steps needed when changing rear brake pads on cars with EPBs.

7:07 please don't "give it a little bump". Especially near the east coast. Sometimes you gotta drill out new ones here. The lugnuts hold/clamp the wheel and in turn the rotor in place. That little screw is only to hold it there while youre putting the caliper/bracket and pads in, it's nothing more and does not require being torqued past wherever it stops. Otherwise, great video. Very informative! I use these videos as refreshers when I get an odd job at home and don't have access to Mitchell or identifix here. The main reason I do this for simple things like brakes, is to see if there's any special tools needed that I need to dig out or borrow. I like that you also mentioned the specific tools along the way. Makes it easy to just grab a handful of stuff and go get it done fast. Good job and thank you

Another great video! I have a 2020 Sorento 3.3 fwd EX base model. I love this vehicle. Thank you so much for your great presentation. For one, I grew up in my dad's shop and really miss having him and his shop to hang out there. Other than the lack of flushing the fluid, that was a very professional quality job. Florida's brake fluid gets cooked and sometimes do it between pad replacement. Looking forward to more of your videos. Maybe spark plugs and pcv cleaning on another presentation. So long for now.

Why do they have the set screws on the rotors? Logic says the lugs hold the rotor to the hub.Are they there just to secure the rotor while remounting the wheel?

That's what I have been told is that they're only used to hold the rotor to the hub during manufacturing, but I usually just put them back in... Thanks for watching! -Dan the Fix it Man

Should replace rotors same time as the pads. Even if rotors look okay.

@@Sean-mc4iq that's a waste of money. Only if the pads have started to dig I to the rotor. You can also take the factory rotors and have them turned. A lot of aftermarket parts are junk.
