Changed the transmission filter (pan) and fluid over to AMSOIL Signature Series Fuel-Efficient Automatic Transmission Fluid in Jul 2019. Because I use the RAM to tow and was getting ready for a 2,000-mile trip where I would be hauling my trailer (PJ-518) out to Oklahoma City and bringing a 1994 Jeep Cherokee back I wanted to change the fluids. I did the transfer case and differentials as well and am very happy with the results, mileage is up over 1.5 mpg while towing and 4 mpg empty.
I use and sell AMSOIL and the transmission fluid I chose is an excellent choice.
AMSOIL Signature Series fuel-efficient automatic transmission fluid recommended for GM, Ford and Toyota transmissions where lighter viscosity oil is required. Provides the same excellent protection and performance as AMSOIL Signature Series Multi-Vehicle ATF. Recommended for vehicles requiring GM DEXRON® VI, Ford MERCON® LV and SP, Honda DW-1, Nissan Matic-S, and Toyota WS fluid specifications.

Procedure,
Raise and support the vehicle on a level hoist. Start the engine. Using a scan tool or vehicle information center, verify transmission fluid temperature is between 30 Celsius (86 F) and 50C (122 F). Disable traction control (ESC). Remove the fill plug from the right rear of the transmission case. Add transmission fluid until it trickles from the fill opening. Install the plug. Lower the vehicle, leaving tires 8 inches off the ground. With brakes applied hold transmission in reverse for 5 seconds. Place transmission in Drive and hold for 5 seconds. Release the brakes and slowly accelerate to 2nd gear and hold for 5 seconds. Apply brakes and place the transmission in neutral. Raise engine speed to 2000 RPM for 5 seconds. Return engine to idle speed and place in park. Remove the fill plug and allow excess fluid to drain from the fill hole and add fluid as necessary. Install fill plug to specification and clear any DTCs.
