That oil filter plug tool is a must I learned my lesson doing it once without it and covered my truck and driveway in oil lol

Good video! The oil filter plug so you dont spill it after priming it was pretty cool.

Thought I added a comment yest and was back with follow up? No Comment? Oh well. Here now. Perhaps I didn't save it. So I did not have the filter plug. Will certainly acquire one. I had already started draining my oil and was then looking for tips on the best way to come at the filter and learned of the plug. Timing is everything. So I dropped the filter into a gallon size ziplock and sealed it. The bag was a little snaggy on some of the bolt heads coming out and I noticed this and double bagged it. Came out without a hitch. Or drop leaking for that matter. I put the new filter in place and before raising and attaching it I used a funnel and a Solo cup to pre fill the filter. No where as convenient as the plug you demonstrated but it got me thru my first oil change on this rig. Where theirs a will theirs a way. I will be seeking one of those plugs before the next change. Thanks for the video and tips.

@@ryanbrown5993 Yah Ive since acquired two plugs. I use one on the filter Im taking out and one on the pre filled new filter. And do a quick swap. Love it.

Lol, I did the exact same thing (using a gallon ziplock). I came back to leave it as a suggestion, having not read the comments first. Seemed simple enough though that I figured I couldn’t be the first to have thought of it.

Hey just so you know you don't need to fill the oil filter but if you want to plug the middle hole and fill it up from the smalls holes so that oil has been filtered....same thing with fuel filters
@AllisonCustoms2 жыл бұрын
I would disagree, I want my engine to start with oil in the system and not need to wait for it to pump the filter full before the oil goes on to the rest of the engine.
@noluvnome22 жыл бұрын
@@AllisonCustoms but you are ok with unfiltered oil going into it....lol you definitely ain't a diesel man 🤣 with your Mopar filters... fleet gaurd are the best for cummins. Diesel oil is thick and the engine already has oil in it you never get it all out when a pm is done, oil is shot through the filter in a split second with no hard done in anyway. You are doing more harm dumping unfiltered oil into the center of the filter....

I just purchased a 2016 Ram 2500 Cummins as well and today I am going to do my first pick oil change on a diesel. I thought there was going to be 2 oil filters for some reason or is that only on certain diesels?
@AllisonCustoms2 жыл бұрын
I’m personally not aware of multiple oil filters on any factory trucks. There are however two fuel filters on our 2016’s.
@markalcala97272 жыл бұрын
There is a fuel filter. Could be thinking of that

You will see that on certain brand diesel usually bigger diesel engines, Detroits, and some others used duel oil filters

Where did you get that metal oil pan?
@AllisonCustoms4 ай бұрын
I think I got mine at Northern Tool. I had to replace the pump because it leaked from the pump case. There are several on Amazon some that look to be the exact same. Also, the top grate (or whatever you call it) is very flimsy, I cut a piece of 1/4” thick expanded metal to put on there and then put the original back on top to help catch small parts. We tried setting a small transmission on it at one point and the original grate just folded up. Hense the HD upgrade. It rolls really well and with the new pump it works great. I might consider an electric pump version, but then you need a power source every time you want to empty it.???? *** The following links are Amazon Associate links and do help support the channel - using them does NOT add additional cost to the buyer. *** DMC-FPPS Oil Drain Pan 17 Gallon Oil Drain Tank with Hand Pump - (very similar to mine, I like the pump up front): amzn.to/3VLdJ0F VEVOR Oil Drain Pan 15 Gallon Oil Drain Tank (rear pump - may cause issues getting it under some lower vehicles): amzn.to/4bW0sYV VEVOR Oil Drain Pan, 15 Gallon Oil Drain Pan with Electric Pump: amzn.to/45wxz38 Thanks for the watching and commenting!

Just wrap it up. Save your money. Cold oil only of course. Grab a big ziplock or a grocery bag, drop it in and just like that no mess

You didn't address none of the problems or the hardships of changing the oil in a 2016 there's nothing typical about it
@AllisonCustoms Жыл бұрын
Other than the special tool that makes taking the oil filter out, and I guess there being a LOT of oil to dispose of, it is absolutely just a typical oil change. If you have a specific question(s), I’d be happy to try to help with answers.
