Eh this was decent... lil slow with shifting and not a proper launch... dsg launch control will put it at 4K ... in my testing starting out at like 5k and drop it to get best launch... sometimes the clutch delay valve will limited pro shifting but just take that bad boy out and you’ll be golden!

@@devn3813 I know they are man but your talking about a gti… I have a manual golf r now and had the 2016 dsg gti and it was 6.4 seconds to 62, didn’t mean to put the r on the end of golf haha I meant dsg 2016 golf gti but they do not get 5.4 seconds i timed it so many times and would of kept it if that was the case

Not stock it won’t.. APR stage 1 tune allows 62mph in 2nd gear at 7k rpms

What is that noise when you shift?! Mine doesn’t make any noise at all it’s smooth. Get an APR stage 1 tune.. you’ll be able to hit like 62mph 7k Tom in 2nd gear.. I can do 0-60 with a MT in like 4-4.3 secs.... but yea that should not be making that noise when shifting that’s for sure!

It's all about the shift points. In the first and last run, 60 came in second gear.

I drove the Audi S3 and manual Golf R back to back this last weekend. I have to say I like the Audi with the DSG better. it just felt quicker and more responsive. The Audi is slightly lighter ad has a wider track. I own a 2015 WRX and have driven manual for 30 years, but I think my next car will be a 2017 or 2018 Audi S3 DSG.

Doesn't matter unless they had a dsg/dct, the golf(dsg) does 60 in 4.5 seconds, the mustang gt (auto) also does it in 4.5, rwd of course, but if they had a dct for the mustang, I'd shave off .3 seconds which is huge.

+todd baker That's a good question. It's hard to see in the video, but the Golf R's tach actually puts the redline around 6,600 - there's a 'warning zone' just before that which is only partially red. I discovered that I could avoid the shift into third gear and hit 60 in second gear by pushing just past that point. It helped a lot with the time on the Golf R.

Why in the world didn't you use launch control? Even if you dont think it helps with the 0-60. You did a run with traction control on and one in normal driving mode... 🤔 Makes me wonder if you know launch control comes standard with the automatic and manual transmissions of this Golf R.

American Muscle305 with a DSG Transmission, I have personally done 4.7 seconds 0-60 mph. Manual transmission will be slower 0-60, generally around 4.9 to 5.2 seconds. Best recorded time I have seen is 4.5 seconds. There isn’t to many 4-Door cars that will do mid 4 second 0-60 times for under $40,000. You can get a 2019 Golf R with DSG right now at dealers for under $40,000.

@@UKGBManny wrong the golf r weighs 1435 kg, it is a whole second quicker to 0-60 mph with the manual version compared to the forester (what does it in 6 seconds)the auto is 4.5 to 0-60 also the forest is 340 horsepower with 240 kw and still can’t keep up with a 225 kw 2 litre turbo and also has 300 hp, Foresters are slow bud and where worth double the price back in 2006 thanks cheers
