Yo my dude hella ya !! The Fumoto valve is the mooosstttt worthwhile investment on my WRX id say!!!! Oil change takes 5 minutes omg !!! Have a good day bro!

Yo man! I've been considering it for a while and finally decided to do it! Hopefully the next oil change is a breeze!
@coreywagganer8 жыл бұрын
I've had mine for three changes now on my fa20.. The longest part of the change for me is waiting for the new oil to settle to get that "perfect " dip stick.. lol .... Fumuto FTW!! Great vid man as always!

Thanks dude! Im pumped for the next change!

I changed the oil in my wife's 2011 Forester yesterday....so easy. I can literally reach the Fumoto valve by just reaching under the front bumper. And, they switched to the FB25 for 2011 and the oil filter is on top!
@TWRX_Chuck8 жыл бұрын
Looking forward to that on my first forester oil change!
@SDSBBQs8 жыл бұрын
I have installed them in almost all of my vehicles. I will say I had a little issue last winter when going over snow in my lowered jetta and I lost the drain valve. just make sure you check it every so often. but I have since because of my top mounted oil filters (VW TDIs) I have vacuum suction pump that is VERY nice.
@TWRX_Chuck8 жыл бұрын
Yeah I've seen those pumps! Those look pretty handy too!
@pinoy4138 жыл бұрын
I've had one on my s2000 for a couple years now. Never any leaks and even with it lowered, I can still slide a short oil drain pan under it, and access the fumoto valve from up top. so now I don't even need to get under my car to do an oil change. it also helps that the oil filter is super accessable from up top. I think you'll like it

No problem dude! You know I'll update you next oil change!
@lamkevin11417 жыл бұрын
I absolutely agree that the Fumoto drain valve makes an oil change quicker and less messier but in my opinion a magnetic drain plug is more beneficial in the long run. In my opinion it's more important to me that the drain plug pulls out metal shaving rather than making the oil change quicker and less messier but then again that's only me.
@TWRX_Chuck7 жыл бұрын
I've got a magnetic plug on my M3, they are definitely valuable!

They make a plastic clip to lock the valve lever in place. Just more peace of mind. Getting my 2017 Lapis STI next week. Here's an idea, I thought about cutting a hole to get to the filter and valve since with the valve it would be easier to change the oil. It's like how my Sonata is from factory. This would make it so you don't have to drop that plastic cover.
@TWRX_Chuck8 жыл бұрын
I've seen people cut those holes, but I'm afraid it would look super haggard if I tried.... The cover is a pain but I'm so used to it now! Had the same thing on my last wrx!

My front passenger brake started squeaking shortly after buying the car. I took the pads out, expecting to find a rock or something, but they looked fine. I figured out that they squeak when cold and when I brake lightly. If I warm the brakes up (which takes a few hard stops), they don't squeak at all, even when braking lightly. "High performance brakes" haha that's all it is.
@TWRX_Chuck8 жыл бұрын
Haha good to know! High performance brakes it is!

so that auto focus is contrast based. it does a lot of hunting to find correct focus. what you'll want is a camera with phase detection auto focus. I read patents for these every day. some cool tech coming out. phase detection AF is really cool. look it up.

Did the Fumoto Valve come with a locking "C" clip for the lever? When I bought my 2010 Forester XT the dealer gave free oil changes for life, in 2010, Cam 2 was the oil they were using, since then I started using Royal Purple 5w-30. I buy the oil and they agreed to changing it. I think they like the idea of keeping up on factory maintenance schedule. though with all my mods there's not much for them to check.

I thought that the blue oil filter is for the WRX and the black for the STI. They both fit, though, but the black one has slightly more capacity?
@binyamj8 жыл бұрын
If you go to the dealership, they only sell the blue filters. I asked about the black one and they told me that it's the one that comes from Japan, but they don't use them here.

Great car, super clean. Being that you keep good care of your Subaru, I would suggest using Mobil 1 Extended Performance or Advanced Fuel Economy. Your engine will run smoothly all the time, and you can have confidence that nothing in your engine will ever wear. I use the Fumoto valve on my vehicle, but I wonder if there has been tests to evaluate how well the valve drains your oil compared to the standard drain plug.
@TWRX_Chuck7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tips man!
@jerseyman1O7 жыл бұрын
The only Mobil1 oil you should ever use in a wrx/sti is 0w40. 5w40 is the preferred type especially Rotella t6.

Hey man, if you do the oil change yourself and something comes up about warranty, could you get denied because you did not service the car at a dealer?
@TWRX_Chuck8 жыл бұрын
Nope, its actually illegal in the US for a manufacturer to require you to get the vehicle serviced at the dealership. You do have to have proof that the service was performed somewhere if they ask. I have been keeping all the oil/filter receipts (actually buying it at the dealer too) and keeping documents on when I change it and the mileage etc. I should be good!
@la_lomacity8 жыл бұрын
I did not know that. Thanks for the reply. And that's a good idea to keep the receipts. Nice videos you making.

I read a review on the valve when threaded into the oil pan it prevents / leaves oil below the threaded portion of the valve from completely draining out. Can anyone verify this
@TWRX_Chuck8 жыл бұрын
I've read that as well, I should have compared the pan thread depth to the thread depth on this thing. My plan is just to make sure the passenger side of the car is higher than the drivers side for oil changes and hope I get most of it!

No it's not bro.. Made by Idemitsu.. A popular Japanese oil company mainly gained recognition for their use in rotary engines the Subaru OEM oil is actually really good oil I use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Plus for my fa20 because that oil is the most popular for that engine and Blackstone reports are the best

Curious on your opinion on something. I have a 15 wrx premium but thinking of upgrading to a 17 sti (before they change the moter to the 2.0 next year) is it work upgrading to the sti? I love the boxer rumble which u don't get really with the fa motors and I can probably get into a new one for the price of a new wrx (don't ask how)
@TWRX_Chuck8 жыл бұрын
Depends on what you want out of the car if you value daily driver comfort and better MPG, stick with your WRX. If you want a little more racecar feel, stiffer suspension, better trans/shift linkage, beefier brakes etc. go STI. I thought the STI was worth it so I got one! The rumble is amazing!
