Great informative content video! I really enjoyed you doing the step by step install! Giving tools required, bolt/nut sizes & detailed instructions. Especially, since the instructions seemed vague. Great tip on re-torque the nuts after 100, 500 miles then on oil changes. I just did a total front end job on my ‘05 F350 only to find out my steering gear box has a little play in it. Going to try an adjustment first to buy some time to get a RedHead box & now I’m thinking of doing the dual stabilizers as well. Thanks for all you do making your videos!

Thank you for watching Joseph! I really enjoy doing the installs and not only showing the install and tools but my speed bumps during the install as well. I know that’s fairly uncommon on KZbin but I think a “real” install can be more helpful. I just hit 500 miles on it and had to readjust them upwards in the far ends as they started to sag/ they weren’t parallel with the drag bar at install. Other than that all is well with the kit! I appreciate your viewership sir. Thanks again for watching!

@@moostang09 shoulda put the bolts facing up,so thread dont pick up debris. but then,,you dont 4 wheel it so it dont matter..

I know you don't go 4 Wheeling much, but whenever you install something under your truck, you should always face the bolts to the rear or upwards! This prevents the bolts from hanging up on something when you're going forward and they also don't pick up sticks/branches this way. And if you ever hit a rock under there it won't snap your bolt off.

You might want to check your outer bracket mounting locations. The newer instructions from PMF specify 19-7/8 not 19-1/8 for Fox dampeners. When you tested yours on the video you were bottoming out the shock when at full lock.

Yep. I just installed these on my truck today. Instructions were updated to 19 7/8 from eye to eye. They also updated they bolt sizes in the instructions to match what's provided. The 1 1/2" bolts worked fine. I just had to clamp one side down a bit to get all 4 on.

My PMF came with all parts and I downloaded the instructions. The installation went very well and I am extremely happy with the performance of the PMF Dual Steering Stabilizer. It took care of the death wobble that Ford couldn't fix (4 times in the shop) and it also took out the little bit of bump steering the truck had.

I have a 2017 F250 that I bought used a year ago. When I picked it up, I had experienced the death wobble on the way home on the highway after going over a bridge expansion gap. Had no idea what it was at the time. Well, after learning about it, I also discovered the prior owner had the tech bulletin to replace the track bar and steering damper, which obviously didn't fix it. I installed the PMF dual stabilizer shortly after experiencing the issue as I didn't want to be dealing with death wobble while towing our camper. It hasn't happened since! I am very pleased with PMF unit. It is heavy duty. I also have a stock height truck and this was the only one I found that would work on stock height as others wanted at least a 2" lift. I've had no problems and have 21,000 miles on since the installation. My only recommendation is to make sure you torque down the bolts to the front differential cover to 34lb/ft like the factory had it. The instructions only have you torque to 20 lb/ft, which had caused a very minor amount of oil to start make its way out. It was just enough to make it wet around the cover. After I retorqued to 34 lb/ft, the oil seepage went away. So, for any of you that are considering this for your truck and have death wobble, this is the best money spent on your truck.

PMF with the Bilstein stabilizers and Bilstein 4600 Series shocks all installed. Ford previously replaced just about every front end component with the "new and improved" parts and so far; no DW. So far, I'm sold on the PMF. Sean, they should pay you a comission on sales of their stabilizers from your video.

Very good video. The reason you had trouble with the large bracket mounting to the dif and axle is that you should have started the dif bolts and gone in only 4-5 threads. If you tighten those up first, the bracket will pull away from the axle, creating too wide of a gap for the bolts to span. All else was spot on.

I’ve had my 2016 Lariat (stock) 4 years now. Driven it three times from Austin to The Mississippi Gulf Coast (round trip) and Austin to California central coast twice. I’ve driven it from San Jose to San Diego twice (I-5, hwy 101, I-405), San Luis Obispo, Ventura, LA, even God-awful Houston highways, California Grapevine on the I-5, the I-10 and I-12 in summer Louisiana and Mississippi heat. The west Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and California deserts (I-10), and Lake Tahoe (Sierra Nevada Mountains). Never seen or felt any wobble, jerk, or shimmy. Edit: Also, I live down a quarter-mile dirt road complete with a huge grade and ruts. When it’s dry out, I have to use my 4Hi or rear diff lock to avoid spinning on the gravel hill, and when its rain, to avoid slipping on the mud. That’s just to get to the “road”. I’ve bounced that suspension moderately (hard once on a pot hole at speed) regularly. Both before and after the aforementioned long trips - she’s been cared for, but not babied and never garaged. In fact, my biggest problem is my war with the rodents going after my wires.

So another question. How do you know if the front wheels are pointed perfectly straight ahead? Why "perfectly"? Well, since you are dealing with measurements that are as fine as 1/8", the wheels can be imperceptibly "off straight" to totally screw up the measurements - i.e. shocks could be too long on one side and too short on the other, with the potential for major steering damage. It seems to me that even though the manufacturer specifies a fine tolerance (19 1/8"), this is really only a starting point. Once the job is finished, you need to take the wheels lock-to-lock and see how much you are off then compensate by moving the end brackets. Since this fellow was very careful to measure accurately and yet his settings were off, it just seems that it's not a matter of "if" it's off but rather how much it's off. This was pretty obvious when the author tried his and the driver side shock bottomed out and pushed against the center bracket. Anyone have a suggestion on how to accurately gauge front wheel straightness prior to bolting this thing together?

Love your videos man. I just purchased a 2019 F250 XLT a few days ago and am watching through all of your videos to check out your upgrades. I was wondering two things...(1) will this help keep that dreaded death wobble from potentially occurring? I haven't had any issues yest but and terrified at the possibility. Especially when pulling my caper with my family. Also, I feel like the steering is very loose. When I go over bumps the truck likes to move around. Will this tighten up the front end some? Make it feel more solid? Also, hows it holding up a year later? Still go with this setup? Thanks man!

Why install a dual vs replacing the original stock with something like a high-end Fox? The previous owner of my 2017 installed a dual stabilizer and I'm trying to decide between upgrading its shocks or removing it and replacing the original stock stabilizer with something like a Fox.

My PMF steering stabilizer cracked my differential cover on my 2017 f250. It's a garbage product and the POS business owner refuses to help with fixing my truck or sending a refund. He said I hit something and bent the bracket. If I hit something that hard, there would be considerable damage to my truck. Avoid PMF at all costs in my opinion. Carli makes better products anyways.

Great video but I still don't understand the whole issue with the four 1 1/2" bolts - did they fit or not? You put 2" on but at the end said the others could have worked. Are they too short or not?
@duconce
@duconce 4 жыл бұрын
That's what I was seeing, the 1 1/2 bolts should have been the right length. The 2" bolts were not threaded all the way and nut could bottom out on the shoulder of the bolt. I would put the shorter bolts back in and retighten. Should be easy if you change them one at a time

I've got an ICON steering stabilizer kit on my 2017 F250 6.7 and they tell you to remove the stock steering stabilizer. I think you left yours on?

By chance do you have the model # of fox steering stabilizers that came with the kit? I have a Wicked Dual steering stabilizer kit I’m about to purchase the stabilizers and replacing with fox. Thanks Larry

Good video, but once again the aftermarket fails to provide quality hardware. Whatever aftermarket product you're installing, re-use factory hardware whenever possible. If it's a critical component, spend the extra money and order grade 8 hardware for the application. That's without a doubt my biggest gripe with aftermarket parts. All the money you pay for some of these modifications, and you get garbage hardware with the installation kit.

Looks like you have outer mounting brackets pointed down too far. Shocks are on an angle down, not parallel with the ground/drag link

When you did the steering test in your driveway the driverside shock bottomed out and actually moved the shock I think the u bolts need to be moved outward or the shocks will be ruined.

The center mount diff cover bolts should only be installed but not torqued at this point, the center mount clamp bolts and nuts will thread together with no problem. Torque up the center mount clamp hardware at this point, and then torque up the diff cover bolts last. Replacing the center mount clamp bolts was unnecessary, the length of these bolts is correct from PMF. After the center mount is torqued down, the rest of the install is straight forward.

After raising truck, I didn’t have the clearance to remove the coil springs and not able to install the spacer. I used a small bottle jack between the track arm and chassis. That gave me the clearance I needed. After that it was a piece of cake putting everything back.

Great Video. Looking at purchasing the PMF Dual with Bilstein Shocks Think I just blew a seal on my OEM dampener. Does the instructions say you still need the OEM dampener or do you happen to know if you can remove them completely?

It looks like to me the driver's side was binding you need to have somebody get in the cab watch that steering stabilizer your wheel still wants to turn as far as the passenger side I really couldn't see that because you didn't show up on it that close good video but I would definitely check that out just have another person sit in there and turn those Wheels you should have a minimum of 1/2 inch on each side clearance

The hardware was plenty long. All you have to do is barely spin the nuts on one side and then squeeze the other side and then lastly tighten all sides equally. I just wish the instructions were better for which way to orient the outer bracket.

at 21:58 it looks like the extended side of each shock mount is not level with the center bracket. notice the center bracket is bending when you go full lock on the tires.
