He's still rediculously strong but the guy is almost 500 lbs and is nearly matched by lighter guys (yes I know his height).

BroToPro hence the competition. if it's too hard then lift a branch.
@LostDervish8 жыл бұрын
Francisco Diaz the comment above isn't about the difficulty of the lift but about the safety of the athletes and the injury risk associated with this particular lift.
@franciscodiaz30288 жыл бұрын
A.Z Awan I get it but name a competitive sport that doesn't have any risks or possible injuries. the bar isn't the problem it's the athlete. for instance, just using a regular bar many athletes have suffered bicep tears, so for that instance should athletes use safety handle bars? this sport is not meant for everyone.
@RusselNguyen8 жыл бұрын
i wouldnt say its impossible, but to have ~1000+ lbs on any kind of bar, it will whip no matter what. in order to make a bar to not flex so much, you'd need an axle type bar with an insane diameter, something you can't wraps your hand around. in terms of it oscillating a lot, you need that in a barbell otherwise you'd have an incredibly hard time locking the bar out or you'd lose balance every time. deadlift bars are used regularly in some federations. it just looks like this due to the sheer amount of weight on the bar.
@ShepardBrent7 жыл бұрын
yea, the 950+ lbs wasnt why they failed the lift or anything lol. the bar is part of the challenge, it forces them to use precise and proper technique instead of jerking the weight around.

There is a video about the construction of it. Basically they made special plates that looked bigger and more impressive, then they made a bar to fit them on. It looks cooler, adds an extra variable (stabilisation) and the whip should help to lift bigger numbers, again for the wow-factor...

Eric Wadge yes but nobody is forcing the atheletes , they can pick lighter wieghts and there will always be some risk given the involvement of heavy wieghts and nature of the sport
