Just got my 2018 S3, (Jan 30, 2018) Funny the center console here in the US is the same, ie, the stop/start button and the volume buttons are on the same side. Go mate!

victor van dyke The strange thing is that in the UK where we drive on the right (like Oz) the drive select button is on the right near the steering wheel..I don't understand why for the Oz market they place it over the other side. Before my S3 hatch (which I love) I had a Porsche Macan S..this had the sport button set up for the LHD markets and was always a bugger to find when you wanted it...and unlike the Audi couldn't be assigned to the steering wheel button.

I disagree about your comment concerning the volume button. Nothing should be designed taking in to account to the front passenger. She or he should be grateful for the ride. I feel the controls should best be suited for the driver. Anyway, life goes on.

Hi Brett , I am deciding between the new 2017 s3 and 2013 ISF low Kms , just wondering if it were you. Which would you choose ? I love the new s3 however the V8 noise that IsF make is just awesome Thanks mate

Two great cars. That's a difficult one. If there are still low-km ISFs around, I think I would choose that. Just personally, it's one of my all-time favourite cars. RWD, awesome power and sound, and just does what you tell it to do. It does miss out on some modern creature comforts and technology though, using an aging interface, and it's actually pretty small inside. On the other hand, if you want a fast, point-to-point blast that's also modern and practical, easy to drive fast, and economical, the S3 is excellent. Hope this helps. Let us know what you decide! My 2016 S3 has been very disappointing. During the winter I got stuff in only a few centimetres of snow. The front tires were spinning. There was nothing coming from the rear wheels. I shut the traction control off and eventually rocked her out. I took the car in for an inspection. The service department could not reenact the issue. I was told to return the next snow fall for another look. That didn't occur as we never had further snow falls. Doing into next winter I'm stuff with a car without all wheel drive.

Trade it in for a 2017. The system has been revamped to give 50/50 split in slippery conditions or if you just set the quattro to dynamic.

No understeer. Revised quattro feeds more power to the rear with the facelift, works great.

jpmzf as I know the pre facelift model has haldex gen 5 that is pretty good but it has some understeer!!The 2017 model has all wheel system Quattro I think that is torque vectoring system but I'm not 100% sure!!If this is true, it means that the car will be more playful and generally it will be better!!!(sorry for my bad english)

Great review, but anterior could be irrelevant to most people due to the odd set up of the steering wheel being on the right, which I could not never understand the logic behind it since the majority of the population are right-handed. It would also help if you could translate the power units to something the rest of the world could understand (i.e. horsepower)

@@madrx2 not in my economy at least. You’ll often see a ~$10k between the R and S of the same model year and mileage. The badge man 🥲
