Besides less weight, remember OB choice is a huge advantage for the northern climates where freezing is a concern for the 'car motor' boats.

Most BR's are going for OB power? By "going for" are you saying introducing, or more OB sales vs IO? I own both, and IO swim platform access can't be beat. To me it's a fresh vs salt issue - salt almost necessitates OB power. Even Cobalt is offering OB options... although I don't care for the look.

Is this boat seaworthy? I'm talking light offshore 1-2 miles. Any information would be appreciated.

In 1-2 ft seas maybe. No more than that though. Decent deep v hull, but low freeboard. This is more of a lake/bay boat than an ocean boat.
