Looking for a first bike myself, ive just earned my "learners". They had that bike on display at the riding school and i thought it looked amazing. After watching many many reviews, all reporting a similar experience as you have, i think im now completely convinced. Im getting one. Im out in Cape Town fyi. Thank you, great review!

I have been riding a BMW G310R since September, as a first bike. I love the bike, but have noticed some of the things that you noticed. It's reassuring to know that next bike likely won't have these issues :)

@@that1panther105 bless your heart. It was a great bike. I kept it for three years as a post pandemic commuter bike. The only reason I don’t have it now is because someone drove into me and the bike was totaled.

Dude your straight boss with that clutchless shift. Thats flawless. I look like a caveman clutchless shifting compared to that wrist flick lol! I'd pick one of these up for sure. Looks like a blast to ride around town.

Going to dealer this weekend to try. This will be my first road bike. Hey, nothing is perfect. I'll prolly get one of those aftermarket mini wind screens that could help shield the dash display from glare. A BMW for $5K. Hell yes.Btw, even if complete newb, I'm budgeting at least $1200 for protective gear. I want an Arai, which is not cheap.

Just wondering why you commented that the Honda is not as good. I assume you are referring to the CB300F. I am looking at both of these bikes and have researched them pretty thoroughly. I like the sound of the BMW better, but I am not sure how it is actually better than the Honda. Just wondering if you can clarify your thoughts on that. Thanks.
@zordflea
@zordflea 7 жыл бұрын
I apologize for not being clear. I think the Honda (or any Honda) will be pretty reliable. I was talking more about the riding fun. I feel that most recent Honda motorcycles feel very safe and easy to ride, but that usually comes at the cost of having any kind of personality.

How are you shifting it without the clutch?
@zordflea
@zordflea 6 жыл бұрын
Amiel Junius Manzano There are plenty of vids and online reading to help explain how to do it. Basically, you preload the shifter with your foot, and the moment you upshift you very quickly roll off the throttle (a bit, not all the way) to reduce the engine load on the transmission. The next gear will slide into place. This takes practice, but it's worth learning. Clutchless downshifting is a bit more tricky as mistakes are less forgiving.

Why would you shift without clutch, what's the point?

@@zordflea you are a master at clutchless shifting. If I learn clutchless on my bike... what would be the worst that can happen. I can clutchless but I not smooth like you. How low of rpm can you go? I find it at 6 rpm... What do you recommend?
@zordflea
@zordflea 3 жыл бұрын
@@NationNathan The trick to clutchless shifting is to be quick with your movements. The worst that could happen is that you could grind your transmission gears if you are not smooth, eventually breaking something. But it would take ALOT of effort to ruin your gears. You could also stall your bike if your revs are too low. Good luck with your practice.

I believe your review of this bike is spot on, i recently rode one here in the US interesting of purchasing one for my daughter, and i came the to same conclusion the brakes are not confidence inspiring and the thing that annoyed me the most was finding neutral from first and impossible from second gear, the bike that i took for a ride had 10 miles so it seems these bikes have some serious issues, i didn't find this bike safe for a beginner rider maybe BMW is trying to sell these bikes based on their name alone. Thank you for the great review

I recently got my Learners license and my first motorcycle. I have to say this bike is very confidence inspiring as she is so chuckable meaning you find the limits (3mths in I want to go to a training day at a track to get better) quicker, including the clutch travel for positively changing gears etc. And because for short people such as myself the ergonomics on this bike fit me well, and from if the bike fits around the rider well then you'll b able to get the most out of it. :)
