I stumbled across this guy about a month ago. Since first finding his videos, I have made it a point to watch all of them. Matt Laidlaw IS the gold standard when it comes to informative Harley sales videos. He seems to know it all. He does not seem to be at a loss for words...ever. If he is using a script, I am not aware of it. It would seem he has plenty of experience making videos. I am not a video editor but his videos seem about as good as it gets when it comes to infotainment. He comes across as both sincere and professional. When you couple real product knowledge with experience, you get what we see in his infotainment videos. A real pro. If he is as good at selling bikes as he is making videos, he needs his own store. One last thing. Laidlaw reminds me of the legendary broadcaster Paul Harvey. Paul was so smooth that he could deliver a sales message without you being aware you had just been served a commercial.

I may be wrong, but I think "Twin cooled" is referring to water and oil cooled heads together with the air cooled fins.

Great job Matt, as with all your videos. Clear, concise, and very informative. Your video's have helped me immensely in my recent purchase. I pulled the trigger on a 2017 CVO SG in orange/black from our local dealer here in Niagara - Ontario. Your efforts here on you-tube are greatly appreciated. Thanks again, and I wish you continued success in your career. Keep bringing us great video's! (Nice riding jacket BTW, my wife wanted to buy me one just like it).

Always a good, complete review , looking forward to your review on the new frame line of Softails in particular the Deluxe. I think Harley is moving in the right direction, models come and go and sometimes return in this case it makes perfect sense to build on a good solid platform. I hope the Softails ride as good as they look.

Matt, I liked the pacing. That showed great camera control. You always get really great camera angles on your videos. Very imaginative. -- Three questions; 1) I noticed the higher wind screen on the one you rode. Where does the wind hit on the shorter one. I like the look of the short one better. 2) What is your all-around favorite HD model? 3) What is ODBs all-around favorite HD model? -- I definitely plan to drop in for a visit when I make it back to LA.
@MattLaidlaw8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. The wind shield is actually the Same one. Results will vary depending on your height. At 6 feet 6 inches it does alright for me. I could benefit from a higher one. My favorite bike changes semi-frequently. Right now it's this bike, CVO FLHXSE. OBD likes anything that's a raw Harley haha.

Great video Matt.. Just did Harley demo day on the East coast yesterday, and pretty sure I rode the same bike you were on! Driver said he just came from the West coast. I just don't know if I could spend justify spending 40k for 6 months of riding.. It can get pretty nasty here in the tri-state during the winter months! The 114 CVO was a blast and in reality the only thing I would change is the exhaust.. Way to quite! Anyway, if I'm ever in So Cal I'll be sure to check out your dealership! Ride safe.

If I were you I would either get a detachable tour pack for the CVO limited or buy the color matched tour pack and a more comfortable seat for the CVO StreetGlide. Do you ride more with two people or solo? That will help you know what direction to go in.

Matt, I know you're busy trying to get your hands on some of the 2018's, but hopefully you can take some time to answer a question. I currently have a 2016 CVO breakout, but came very close to getting the 2017 CVO Street Glide as well, but I decided to wait to see what they had for 2018. I'm definitely happy with the 2018's and will probably get end up getting one, but it will be my first Street Glide, and my first bike with stereo equipment. All my previous bikes have been performance bikes without a ton of frills.. my question is with the six speakers on the CVO street glide, what are the risks associated with washing the bike, or getting caught in a rainstorm? Are the speakers themselves water resistant or waterproof like you would find on a boat, or do you have to avoid getting them wet?

Hi Matt - as we don't really get much, if any, opportunity to demo the CVO SG in the UK, could you give us a comment on the comparable cornering "weight" and "flickiness" of the CVO compared to the standard new 2017 SG special? (I love the look of the CVO and loved the ride on the new standard SG but when I tried the EG Ultra, the extra weight ruined the ride for me - I have an opportunity to buy a CVO version, but it is a 2-day round trip from where I live, so it would be good if you could help manage expectations first). Many thanks is, Steve

I was thinking of buying a Harley davidson touring bike for traveling in a multi country trip on a. But when I think of how fancy and expensive the touring bikes are I hesitate many times and hold it. I mean, I'm going to see the worst of roads and to me it feels painful to ride such expensive bikes on these roads. Your opinion would help a lot. Thanks for the video.
@MattLaidlaw8 жыл бұрын
If there are going to be really bad roads and some are unpaved like dirt roads then a big heavy harley touring bike wouldn't be the best choice. An adventure bike would probably be best. Something lighter with taller suspension etc

Thanks for your response! Could you also evaluate a bit in one of your videos on the differences between standard M8 motor, say with 114 c.i. kit and the CVO 114 M8? Are there any differences apart from the "twin cooled" system parts wise or quality wise? Is the water cooling system there only to reduce heat for the rider or there are other behefits? Theoretically, having lower engine temp allows one to run higher compression ratio and thus make more power, other things being equal. Thanks and keep up great work with your videos! Alex

I'm selling it. When you're in the industry you're always changing bikes. If I was wealthy I'd probably just keep it. I love that bike. I really don't think there will be big issues with the new motor. The after market guys will catch up soon.

Great video Matt! Cool helmet. Is it HD? I have a 2014 Limited & thinking of going with the SG CVO. Just wondering if I will like the M8,... and the sound. How is the new windshield? As effective a the Klock Works Flare? Is the membership to satellite radio included in the price?
@MattLaidlaw8 жыл бұрын
Olboxer thanks. The helmet is a Simpson outlaw bandit. You'll like the M8. You'll have to change the exhaust probably to make it sound the way you want. It's a great engine though. Yes the windshield is as effective as a comparable height klock werks. No, you have to pay for satellite radio. You get like 3 months for free.

which model is best selling---Road Glide or Street Glide? what do you feel is the main difference in the ride of each due to the fairing difference? Great video--thanks!
@MattLaidlaw8 жыл бұрын
We sell more of the Street Glides. They both sell really well though. The ride is very similar. At slow speeds you have less weight on the steering on the Road Glide. A lot of People swear by the handling of the RoadGlide in high wind conditions. I think more people get the Street Glide just out of style preference.

@MattLaidlaw8 жыл бұрын
The seat height is the same. The road glide prior to 2015 was a better fit for a tall guy. Since Rushmore came out the roadglide bars are closer to the rider by 4 inches. Which is huge. Don't buy based on the premise that the roadglide is for taller riders.

Horsepower is just a calculated number based on measured torque. Only reason sportbikes have the horsepower they do is because they have such a high RPM. Build a HD V-twin to handle 11,000 RPM, and the horsepower they'd have would be staggering.
