I loved the video! Short and straight to the point. I have a 2016 F250 super cab with a 8ft bed with the 6.2L and tow a 36ft 8600lb (empty) travel trailer and usually driving to camp grounds around here is hilly, a few steep grades and a lot of rolling, long pulls and average about 5.5-6.8mpg and unloaded driving average around 8mpg so yes it's bad on fuel so trading it in today on a 2019 F350 SRW with the 6.7L. I'm very excited and can't wait to see fuel mileage in the double digits!

I'm thinking about a new f250 my go to f250 is a all original 1989 4x4 with a 5.8 an a 5spd manual tranny this truck has been to Ford an they looked it over an want pictures of it because it's been through hell an back an also has little over 700.000 miles on her I can't make up my mind if I want to rebuild that 5.8 an keep it going or just buy a new truck just looking for any ideas suggestions

Well here is what I think: A. First of all it appears you can afford a new F250, so if that is true, that means you can afford to keep that old F250 as well. A truck that old and with that many miles is worth NOTHING on trade, so why not keep & fix the old truck engine and keep that truck as a play toy for off road bashing, and the new truck for getting where you need to go without breaking down?

The options sure seem to be reasonably priced compared to aftermarkets stuff, but they add up fast. One thing that has me concerned about the aluminum bed...... is the lumber rack option. I need to have a lumber rack on my rig for the concrete business and I am concerned that the aluminum wont handle the weight like steel. For a lot of guys that use lumber racks for a living, that is a deal breaker if aluminum won't handle the weight.. Never seen a lumber rack on a new ford with the aluminum bed? I really like the 17 ford super duty looks and towing configurations giving it a lot of best in class towing trophies for this year.
@chadhaire17117 жыл бұрын
that is what bed liners are for
@RIPbiker135 жыл бұрын
The aluminum is thicker than the steel was and aluminum absorbs impacts better. That's why armored vehicles are made of aluminum. That said, I destroyed the steel bed in my F150 with normal use.

I have this truck in Laramie trim. Only have 550 miles on it so far. Mileage (not broken in obv.) is very similar to what he is posting in this video. As far as gas vs. diesel, test drive both and you will see the difference immediately. The diesel has a tremendous amount of effortless power and excellent throttle response. For me I admit diesel was at least as much of a want as a need as my travel trailer is only 6,000 lbs. So far I'm glad I spent the extra cash as I love my truck and enjoy every second of driving it.

Nice video Chad! This one wasn't boring...and I liked your humor! Regarding F250 mpg, I average only slightly better then my '17 F350. I have seen 20 mpg down a relatively flat highway using adaptive cruise but I usually see 17-18. In the city its about 14. These figure are diesel only. I don't know anything about the gas motor.
@zfilmmaker7 жыл бұрын
* I should note that my F250 has the high capacity towing pkg which has the M275 Dana's. I have heard that the F250's with Sterling axles do better mpg simply because they're lighter and less beefy. If you're not planning on towing heavier loads, I'd skip the HC tow package in favor of possible better fuel economy.
@chadhaire17117 жыл бұрын
gas motor is 12/18 in 2wd and 11/17 in 4x4 on a good day. Both do about 15 overall.
@zfilmmaker7 жыл бұрын
Not that much of a difference mpg wise huh? So the two motors come down to personal preference between fuel type. The diesel of course is far more fun/versatile due to the amount of torque.

210001bs on the hitch????/ Better be careful with that!!!!! That hitch under the bumper has a tow rate of 15k. You pull more and get into an accident,,,,,,That's the first place he is going to want to know,,,,how much you are towing and how much can you tow. According to that hitch it's only 15k
@chadhaire17116 жыл бұрын
Is there not a hitch that sits in the bed?
@johndelvisco45286 жыл бұрын
Ahh you are correct Sir but at 2:48 the pic shown is for hitch pull at the bumper for 21K lbs and then it is mentioned that the hitch in the bed pulls 32K. This gives the impression that you can pull 21k off that bumper hitch. This is why I made the comment. Gooseneck and 5th wheel bed hitches tow similar weight. Now if that is not what the implied information was referring to...then I stand corrected. But at any rate,,,if you are caught towing more than 15k off the hitch under the bumper,,,,,well then you are caught and the PoPo's will not hesitate to ticket you.

Dave: Funny guy. Tell you what----why don't you call the Ford west coast president and ask him if he will loan you a $77,000 truck to test. He will likely laugh, but hey you might get lucky. Then take it out and tear the suspension and paint up, and give it back that way and see what happens. Of course that's not going to happen. What is going to happen is any truck I get is going back in the same condition it was delivered in, as the legal contract says. If some minor damage occurs that is not a problem--what you are talking about is. This isn't an off road vehicle in the first place, and I think anyone watching knows what off roading is without taking a $77K truck out and trashing it. Of course if YOU would like to supply me with YOUR truck I would be more than happy to take it out and do some "REAL" off road driving. Or if you would like to put some money up and sign an agreement to pay for any damage I might get on the next truck I get we can do that too. Your move ace....

interior build quality is sub par compared to its competitors from RAM and GMC they offer more soft touch points, more leather, aluminium, and higher quality materials. The massive amount of cheap plastics is a turn off, not to mention worse in class reliability, worse in class interior sound isolation, and worse in class ride quality makes you wonder who would buy this? (well that's simple ford fanboys will buy this knowing its now the most expensive in its class while being verifiably behind its competitors) some times i think ford fanboys are like Iphone fanboys, they will buy what ever comes out from their company even if its trash.

Dodge is a soft steel yuppy truck. I almost lost a trailer going down the road because the hitch about ripped through the frame. No lie! To me- Chevy and GM have been behind on Dodge and Ford for interior buttons, knobs and overall look. Chevy and GMC are better built frames than Dodge but I don't like the square wheel wells. Ford actually builds the truck from front to back inside and out. To each their own. Just speaking from my experience of my 1999 F350 With 7.3. I was very happy with and can't wait for my F450 Platinum.
