2017 Ford Fusion Oil Change Step by Step

In this video I go through the steps that are needed to do an oil change on a 2017 Ford Fusion. This will work on 2014-2020 Ford Fusions with the 1.5L Ecoboost. Items Needed for Oil Change:
Motor Oil - amzn.to/2W9G84e
Oil Filter- amzn.to/3gkhogV
Steps to do Oil Change:
Step 1: Lift car and place safely on Jack Stands.
Step 2: Remove Splash Shield below engine using 10mm Socket and Flathead Screwdriver.
Step 3: Remove Drain Bolt using 13mm Socket and Oil Filter using Oil Filter Wrench.
Step 4: Re-install Drain Bolt and Oil Filter.
Step 5: Add 4 quarts of Oil and check for any leaks.
Step 6: Re-install splash shield and lower car safely.
Step 7: Start and run car for a minute then shut off and do final check on oil level and add accordingly.

Good video but I always warm up the car after the oil change and check for leaks. And this is my first car with an aerodynamic shield under it so I will not be putting it back on till I check for leaks. lol, js Quick question why is my oil life reading 52% when the odometer is reading 5,105 mi shouldn't it be reading 0% or negative life? Changing oil this weekend.

Fusion is rated for oil changes every 10k miles, unless your towing or doing a lot of city driving. It's in the manual.

The oil life monitor goes base on driving habits, driving environment, and engine idle time, so it is pretty accurate, and that why it reads differently

Motorcraft filter would be best to use.

Says 4.3 but I always put 5 quarts is that bad for my engine!?

It might be ok, just check the level to make sure it’s not over the high mark on the dipstick.

An extra .7 could cause the crank cavitation which could be bad for oil pump but more likely the oil pickup for the turbo. On these lil turbo motors oil quality and level can be far more harsh than older non turbo engines.

I realize I may seem like I'm knit pickin but 1.5l is very small and the turbo is also very small so small changes can have large results. I absolutely believe that the 1.5t is a great platform.

You need to use the motorcraft oil

you don't NEED to, its recommended but you can use other brands as long as they meet ford specs. I run valvoline full synthetic in my fusion ecoboost and haven't had any issues.

@@Dmccraw1998 I've read it. They recommended Motocraft SAE 5w30 wss-m2c946-A for Ford Fusion Titanium 2.0 Ecoboost. But I want to use FULL synthetic. What should I do? And I haven't decided yet which brand I need to use. Can you help me?
