Pretty disappointing in my part of the word that this will be the replacement for the discontinued Falcon XR6 Turbo - this is half a second slower to 100km/h, a full second and a bit slower over the quarter, and it costs more. Guess I'll just hold on to my Falcon for a few more years.

Easily the most accurate review of this vehicle I’ve ever seen. I looked at a lot of reviews before I bought it and they were mostly positive but your review of the dash and more specifically the font was spot on. It’s literally the only thing about my car that I can’t stand. But now after owning it for three years and only having trouble with the auto up down windows I’m going to say that at the end of the lease next month I’m going to keep it because I can’t get this kind of performance, comfort and style for $20,000. Good job dude.

Hey how’s it going? I’m looking at a 2017 Fusion Sport with 79k for $13.5k here in 2024. I’m looking for a daily driver with AWD that’s not super boring. I just found out about this car and its specs. I had no clue they made these, so I was looking at Charger R/T’s but this is newer than those (think they stopped making them AWD in 2014) so I’m thinking this would be more practical and stuff. So you liked the car and would recommend? Thanks lol

What a nice car. I cannot think of another mainstream brand car packed as a midsize sedan offers 325 horsepower with 380 lbs. -ft. of torque that is well equipped with amenities are typically found on a Mercedes-Benz like full LED headlamps and fog lamps or suspension damping not to mention intelligent all-wheel drive system to balance out the quality of handling. This Fusion shatters its competition with ease. I think comparing a midsize family sedan to a compact BMW 3-series is incomparable even a Lincoln MKZ with a 3.0TT V6 engine compared to a smaller luxury rear-wheel drive sedan is quite incomparable. With all-wheel drive, a vehicle will become heavier. A Chrysler 200 V6 is actually heavier than a Ford Fusion Sport coming in at 3795 to the Fusion's 3681 equipped as the Sport trim.

5 and a half seconds for a family sedan? That's unbelievable. The V6 Camry's and Accords are no longer the fastest in the entry level mid size sedan segment.
@oldtwins8 жыл бұрын
Actually it's not that great for AWD drivetrain and huge torque figure. Should be in the high 4's with those specs. It's not traction limited so no blame on the tires either. I mean you can get a RAV4 V6 (normally aspirated) AWD at the same 0-60 times with an intake and lightweight wheels. Not sure what the deal is, whether the factory tune is too conservative, drive-train losses eating power, but I would not be happy with these performance specs, especially as the gas mileage on the highway is really bad.

Nice review. You're more thorough, and easier to listen to, than say Vehicle Virgins, ThatDudeInBlue, etc. You also know the competition and did a good job of contrasting the Fusion against its peers. Sadly, Ford got 90% of this car right but the lazy transmission, stupid instruments (although I think the dual LCD displays are an option), and overweight chassis are really disappointing. I also don't like fake engine sounds. This would be a great sleeper to embarrass a variety of cars at stop lights but it's not a poor man's Audi. Had the Focus RS team, or even Fiesta ST team, worked their magic on this car it might have beat the Germans on the Nurburgring but, instead, it's a modern day 4 door muscle car--big engine in a family sedan and some other mostly superficial upgrades. Ford gets credit for switching to dual port and direct injection which should eliminate the carbon build-up problems that plague Ford's other Ecoboost engines. Ford is gradually getting more things right but, in reality, this is a 4 year old face-lifted 2013 car with a half-baked instrument cluster, lazy transmission, fake engine sounds, compromised suspension, and it needs to lose at least several hundred pounds.

@jerrychen34288 жыл бұрын
Quick interjection: the previously quickest family sedan is the v6 Accord with 0-60 in as fast as 5.4 seconds, even with the automatic. Although it has fewer horsepower compared to the fusion sport, it is also slightly underrated (closer to 290 at the crank than the 278 it's rated at) and weighs a good 500 lbs lighter. There really isn't much reason to get this ford given the accord is cheaper, just as fast, but with a better interior.
@theredline8 жыл бұрын
We've seen the Accord's 0-60 performance vary from 5.4 to 6.2, depending on the publication. The manual V6 coupe is the quickest Accord you can buy, but it also has trouble putting the power down and honestly, very little people purchase that combination. The sedan V6 is really in the high 5's, closer to 6 seconds range, same with a V6 Camry and Passat. Differences between the Ford and all those options is the AWD, the Fusion Sport has no drama when floored, it just takes off with plenty of grip and to some people, that security is what they're looking for.

the 2015 camry is NA, 268hp, not AWD, and parts are less costly, plus lighter and more known for reliability, and can hit 0-60 in 5.7 sec. wow I'm sorry but they fucked up here and I rather stick my money into the camry. there were rumors that toyota was considering making a v8 camry... aahhh I hate rumors but that would be so awesome to see. anyways im not a jdm fanboy i like american v8s and jdms but camry took the win in my opinion

Great Review Man. This thing definitely needs at least a 250 diet, a redesign instrument cluster, and a new transmission.
@H0LDENSUX8 жыл бұрын
325 hp from a twin turbo 2.7 litre V6? You get more hp from the 2.3 litre 4 cylinder turbo Focus RS. That's crap. Ford needs to sack the engineers who designed this gutless V6 along with the people working in the marketing department.
@theredline8 жыл бұрын
It's all about the tuning, the RS has way more boost from its turbocharger and is designed to be a high performance engine. That results in lower fuel economy along with a power delivery that can be a bit peaky. The exhaust system on the RS is also way more free flowing resulting in a throatier growl. The Fusion Sport is no RS or ST, it's designed to be a quick, comfortable, and quiet family hauler which is what Ford believe the target audience will be. We actually think the 2.7L puts out great numbers, considering there are some 3.0L twin turbo V6 engines out there that make less power than this smaller 2.7L. Also consider the 380 lb-ft. of torque which is more than anything else in this segment. Calling this V6 gutless is like saying the V8 in a Corvette could use more power.
@android1758 жыл бұрын
Redline Reviews Thank you!! Someone who has a sense in car design!
@H0LDENSUX8 жыл бұрын
Yes, while the torque figures are greater on the the Fusion than the Focus RS, the extra performance gained from the additional 56 lb-ft. of torque (difference is only 33 when the RS is in over boost) is noticeably robbed by the Fusion's sheer weight. Even if the Fusion was to be given more boost, other issues such a braking performance and drive train reliability (which many previous Ford owners recognized as Ford's Achilles' heel with sedans and wagons), the case that it's just a poor man's Mercedes AMG or AUDI RS as (you described BMW 540i but that does not come in All wheel drive) will be all the more obvious if the cost of proper performance upgrades will cost just as much as these premium luxury sedans. Yes, it is gutless because the German rivals deliver more power for less engine capacity / cylinders even though they are priced in a different market segment, but you got to remember, the cheaper plastics, seating and dash layout do reflect why the Fusion is cheaper (and always will be) than these rivals.
@android1758 жыл бұрын
H0LDENSUX Dude no one is cross shopping the focus RS and this car.
@theredline8 жыл бұрын
Personally, we'd never cross shop this Fusion Sport with a BMW 340xi, Audi S4, or Mercedes-AMG C43. All 3 German options will be more nimble, sporty, and luxurious. There is a reason why they cost $20,000 more then the Ford. However, what Ford has offered is a lot on paper: nearly as much power as the Germans, AWD grip, and most of the tech toys at a much lower price point. On paper, we don't fault consumers for thinking of it as a less expensive alternative to a German sport sedan, however in the real world, it simply doesn't feel as special out on the road but you do still have to give Ford credit for having the balls to offer something like this in the mainstream segment. It feels like a special Fusion, but not when in the company of such prestigious competitors.

Why is everyone so excited about this car? It's not a ST or a RS. The word sport is used a lot in the automotive industry, and it can mean different things. It's just a faster Fusion. Nothing wrong with that. It's a really nice car. But back in 2011 when the first Fusion Sport came out, it didn't have the same excitement as this one does.

Almost worth cross-shipping the Chevrolet SS sedan (considering the GM discounts on the SS). More power and torque (415/415), less weight (~3900 lbs), roughly the same fuel economy, much more mod potential with the LS3, arguably better interior, a far, FAR better suspension (magnetic ride control) and you can get a manual transmission. Of course, the Chevy is RWD, not AWD.
@TheDaddynate7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, for the money I'd go for the SS. Insurance is gonna hit you just the same too, anyhow.

If you're in the market for a Fusion, you're not in the market for a Camaro -- and vice-versa. Where Ford screwed up with this is by not putting it on the Taurus (SHO) platform and using the 3.5 EcoBoost. In fact, a better idea would have been to reskin the SHO with bodywork like that of the Kia Stinger, push the power to 400, and have it handle better than a '17 Mustang GT. Oh, I almost forgot: the MSRP needs to be cut by at least 40 percent -- and that's with the 3.5 EB and all wheel drive.
