Glad you mentioned about Ecoboosts sometimes not giving full boost at times. I have a 2020 Fusion with the 2.0 Ecoboost and I do feed it 93 octane all the time and I thought it was just in my head, but no you just confirmed it. Thanks!

It may not have had a good solid service since bought. I have a 3.5 in my 2016 Sport. got it used with 70k. found one hose that comes off the intake to the bypass valve was not snug with a clamp. that seemed to do the trick in my case. i barely go 1/4 throttle and she will kick down and gallop away very easy. give it a good going over. some things will not through codes like, the BOV's if they are weak, at times they won't cause a code. the bypass valve, again, may not code if it is not performing properly. clogged air filter of course. I don't use paper in mine. good luck with it. once you get it right, trust me, it will toss you back.

@DMCarReviews I mean for example in bmw's they throw a check engine light with a 30ff code indicating a boost leak. If this explorer had a boost leak it should throw a check engine light.

So this should have the 3.5 V6 TT rated at 365 hp, right? Yea definitely somethings messed up and like a few have mentioned here, the hoses come off and you loose all the boost. My flex with the same motor has run a best of 14.4 @ 98 bone stock in 70 degree weather

Correct! I think the Explorer EcoBoost would trap 95-96 on a good day in the 1/4 mile, and slightly less with additional police equipment.

The 2020+ explorers and the taurus with the ecoboost are even faster than this thing, and the 2020+ explorers have 400hp and the 10speed, that will be a hell of a steal when they retire them at an auction, even the taurus and older explorers like the one you got in this video are starting to get really cheap at auction and one of the best bang for your buck vehicles out there, ive seen police explorers like the one in your video with the ecoboost go for 5-7k tops depnding on milage and condition at my local auction and the ones with the 3.7 v6 are just as cheap if not cheaper usually.

Yeah it may be a boost leak. Doubt it's a bad turbo at that low milage. I have an MKT with Ecoboost with 222,000 miles on it. It took off way faster than this. It's time to replace my turbos now. It's not producing boost now and it feels as sluggish as yours is now.

I think it's a boost leak too! It gives all the boost at low rpms when you feather the gas pedal.

Its a ford turbo engine car, it's gonna go bad at low milage.

Definitely an issue with the turbos. The car accelerates way quicker than that. Probably an underboost issue.

they usually dont go out until very late in the life span, its definatley not trash, ive seen way worse even in engines without turbos, id say around the 180k mile mark the turbos are at risk of going out, but most people dont own a car that long, that high a milage,if you get 1 with 100k miles for cheap at an auction its a hell of a deal and one of the quickest cheap cars you can get, esepcially for an suv that cheap. Id be more worried about the internal water pump going out before the turbos, which would cause oil and coolant to mix and ruin your engine, many people typically do a preimptive water pump change after around every 100k miles so they dont have to worry about that, and youll catch it if you change your oil enough and it lessens the chance of the water pump going bad as well if you change your oil so that the oil doesnt burn as hot. Even if the turbos start to go out most people are willing to deal with some extra turbo lag and lil less power, it’s not like the car becomes totally undrivable.

​@@calvin4319 Exactly I have 222,000 miles on my 2013 MKT Ecoboost. One of my turbos just went out. I am going to just replace both.
