The only manufacturer that adheres to ASTM towing specs is Nissan. Everything else is basically a banzai run.

Ford implemented 2807 in 2015 and Ram did in 2014, GM still hasn't but that's because they can't tow worth crap. That's why the release of the next gen hd hasn't happened yet. Toyota implemented 2807 with the 14 tundra.

those 6.4 power strokes ain't worth a shit. my pops used to have one and the motor was constainly over heating reducing power etc and he deleted everything dpf,egr etc and 300k miles later the motor granaded and it was destroyed and on top that the 6.4 is a fuel hog from hell it got 11.4 mpg on the highway. finally convenst him to buy him self a Cummins and he is extremely happy with it.

It's so beautiful! We've got a 2008 and finally in the last few months we tuned it and put a full exhaust. The thing hauls ass now, it's a 450 with the 4.55 gears so even at 80mph the truck will accelerate so hard, harder than most sports car.

Great video guys! I'm surprised that Ford allowed you to do an Ike Gauntlet review with their new truck. Most impressive is the cruise control that will apply the brakes to maintain set speed. Being able to control your speed going down the mountain is more important than being the fastest to the top. Something that is easily forgotten by amateur drivers.

My house payment is just under that at 1,850 a mouth. There is no way i can justify this as a vehicle i need. Ray Maready I agree with you, if you can afford a truck this expensive then you should probably be buying it outright, or at least put down a hefty down payment. This truck IMO is for someone who makes over 250 K a year. There are however in places like Fort McMurray Alberta at the Oil sands where project managers and superintendents make this kind of coin, like over 100 dollars an hour.

The Deprey's What most people don't realize is, they can't just load this truck with a 30k trailer without a class A CDL. Most of these vids are irresponsible for not mentioning that fact. A lot of people believe the notion of " Its a pickup, why would they sell it at that load rating if I need a CDL." I would venture a guess that at least half the salesman that you ask that question to wouldn't know or wouldn't tell you so they can make their sales commission. New truck prices have become stupid crazy.

Im sure it will come but probably not for a few more years, it is barely going into production this year and we still dont know what problems it might have yet. Plus the massive torque of the superduty would need much beefier components and that transmission is small and compact. Plus you would probably run into the truck downshifting too much and what not

Also, around the 10:36 mark it appears that the coolant temp is getting into dangerous territory. Shouldn't the truck be able to handle exactly this scenario? I wonder how Ford does their testing... There really needs to be a universal standard.

Coolant tempt is past half way (Which is where it is during normal driving), but its certainly not pegged out. The temp being in that range is fine, why would you think being slightly warm is bad? Especially considering this is definitely a worse case scenario.

I’ve found heading through the mountains hauling equipment with my f550 the temp would run around 230f uphill in 90f weather. The fan would lock on and almost double its speed and the engine coolant temp would drop 20f in about 30 seconds... I figure that a bit of fluctuation is normal as long as the cooling system reacts and does it’s job. I think the people at ford did a fine job, especially with the 2nd gen 6.7

It's nice towing at night with the cooler temps. Love to see this truck tow 30,000 lbs. up mountain roads at slower speeds in CO when its 80+ degrees out. No doubt this truck will get too hot! My F-350 PowerStroke gets hot towing 16,000 lbs. Love these yuppies that only test heavy towing on highway Roads.

I think it did great if you think of the weight It's carrying. That's a 11% grade which means it's really steep. I'm not a Ford man but the truck did good. There is another video comparing the 450 Ford to the 350 Dodge,(2016 models) in that video the Dodge had to let off the gas to LET the Ford win. Ford commercial, no way was they going to let a Dodge win. Dodge would be my pick over the big three.

Dodge tends to be very generous with their tow ratings. Get under each of them and look at the brakes, frame and suspension and tell me which you feel would more comfortably tow 32K.

As RAM owner since 1991 with 4 diesel trucks over the years, I'm somewhat biased, but my first car was also a 1969 Mustang Mach 1 and I'm still a Ford racing fan. The 2017 is really a step up for Ford. I would say the new F-450 in this video seems a bit louder in the cabin than previously tested models, without or with the cooling fan running (the slightly higher noise level of RAM has been commented on in numerous reviews and I would generally agree). All said; it's a great truck. I still don't think the overall reliability of the Ford motor is equal to the RAM, but Ford's transmission is better, and it has a metric-shit-ton of new features. Good result for Ford. I do still have a problem comparing an F-450 to a RAM 3500 however.

Does Ford make a kit so a guy can put a small sub like an 8 inch sub and amp in the truck? My thing, towing at night, does that give a real world comparison, time wise? ya'll always time the way the trucks go up the hill, but when doing it at night versus day you miss a key element factor, real world traffic, but I do also get that just as much towing happens at night. Great review

I love this new 6.7 but I'm getting one in a new f250 to haul my fifth wheel . This f450 is what you pull a 43ft fifth wheel with. Mine is just 30ft.

30k lbs... 900+ torque... Wow, I can remember when my dad bought a diesel Excursion brand new in 2001 and I thought 10k lbs towing capacity and 500 lb ft of torque was impressive....

Mr Truck must have an extensive background in towing. I would not want to be driving when pulling 30k lbs and I'm pretty darn experienced at pulling trailers. I topped that hill once pulling about 10k lbs in a 92 GMC with the 6.5 or 6.2 can't remember but it was really scary.

Mr. Truck has his Class A cdl license I believe they said, so he can drive a tractor trailer legally, let alone a truck and trailer.

So what if you’re towing in inclement weather? You don’t have air brakes, how do you go downhill then? Is the traction control activated with the adaptive downhill cruise control? Is there a hand valve to stop the trailer?

I am picking up a 2020 F450 Platinum this weekend. I would like to see the difference in time between the 2017 and 2020 F450 pulling the same weight. Quick question I am purchasing the truck with the thoughts of upgrading to a fifth at some point. My current trailer is a pull behind that is around 10k loaded. Do I still need to use my load leveling bars? I can't wait to see the difference because I am coming from a lifted 2006 f250.

Wow, I feel better now in my 2016 Ram 3500 Laramie 4x4 Mega Cab DRW Aisin 4.10's purchase for $58,000. My max tow 30,100 (same as Ford), max payload 5393 (better!). The Ford is nice for sure and that adaptive cruise is sweet but I literally saved $25K for almost the same capability. The new 3" receiver on the Ford boosts weight ratings for towing a travel trailer. I think mine is rated at 18K vs 21K on the Ford but overall, I thought Ford was gonna hit harder than this with all the 2017 hype that's been coming out. Still a nice truck and I'm really excited to see the Ram tow it's max weight!

My guess is that a new f-350 in lariat trim would be quite a bit closer to that price point.

+Ken L. hahaha good catch. I came from an 05 Ford super duty 6.0 Lariat so I'm always calling this new one a lariat vs Laramie. Bought it at Earnhardt Dodge in Gilbert AZ

Would this truck make a good (5) car hauler? I do union construction during the summer months but need a new daily driver and to haul cars during the winter months. I could probably stretch the budget to a Freight liner M2....
