Really great overview, thank you! I'm thinking about doing an unsupported upgrade from Sync 2 to Sync 3 (some different after market options available) for my 2011 Ford Edge LTD. I know I won't get the ford pass stuff, but the other features look compelling. I might take the risk and leap. But your video helped me understand, if I did, what I might get if all works out. My only remaining question/issue is what about devices with the climate controls and how those are managed via this system (specifically seat warmers, no dedicated buttons for those on my Edge, you have to use the infotainment system). I loved watching this but I am having problems with mine resetting on its own. My time will go back an hour, all my navigation sets delete and my bluetooth phones disappears. Since purchasing this vehicle I have done a master reset and updated software using WiFi and I still have problems afterwards. Any ideas on what I should do? Would Ford dealership know how to fix? Just got a new 2017 explorer with sync 3. I can connect my galaxy s7 edge just fine but when I get a call or make a call I cannot hear the person I called thru the car speakers. I've called Ford and verizon and still couldn't figure it out. My brothers phone and my husbands phone both work fine. So, maybe it's something with my phone. I don't know. Any suggestions? I've made sure that it's connected properly and that my phone bluetooth setting is set up for audio calls.

seems like something is wrong with the bluetooth connection of the phone... try connecting it a different car and if it does the same thing then something is wrong with your phone

My edge has an issue that will stop playing music the first few minutes I’m in the car. I plugged in my phone because I like to have a full battery and I can’t play my Sirius. I will hit a station and it will play two seconds then go back to the source screen. It won’t play music so I have to keep hitting the Sirius button. I disconnected my Bluetooth from the car that helped a day then it came back. My other issue is that my voice command doesn’t always stop the music when I try to use it so it can’t hear me.

ffmedic1638 let's do some trouble shooting.... first thing I would do is make sure you have the latest Sync 3 software. the older versions do not allow the apple car play. do you know how to connect to wifi and update the software ?

I just bought a 2016 F-150 FX4 Lariat last Friday. 2 issues with my Sync 3...#1, The navigation still thinks and reads it's in Dearborn Michigan. I am in Southern Illinois. Even the "Where am I" button will not show my current location. Tried to reset but nothing The technicians say they have checked everything but don't know how to fix it. #2, my sirius radio does not work either. Everything else with Sync 3 seems to work fine. Any thoughts?

I filmed this in a 2017 Ford Escape. There is no difference between the SYNC 3 in the 16 and 17 escapes, however you can only use the Ford Pass app with the 2017s. In the Ford Explorer 2017 models you can use the SYNC 3 and voice commands to control the climate settings as well.

There is a difference. 16 have sync 3. 17 have sync 3 AND Android Auto/Apple Carplay. Ford says there will be an update for 16's to add it to their sync 3. I'm looking forward to it because you wouldn't need to buy navigation, since you could you Google maps through Android Auto.

Unfortunately, you can really only listen to 6 stations while driving because the option to press the preset button to go to the next 6 stations is so small, that you have to hit it right on. Impossible when driving. You can wreck. So have your favorite 6 only while driving.

Ron Rivet you cannot save it to the sync 3. You would have to play it on your MacBook using the aux cord, Bluetooth or transfer to your phone. You can also save all your songs to a thumb drive and plug it in

Caseyfamily100 if you bought the car pre owned it is most likely the previous owners phone that they did not disconnect. you can go into the Bluetooth settings of the sync 3 as shown and delete it

Little slower please. The audio system is great but needs better slower tutorial. Problems with preset on HD radio. Only discovered HD radio after my Sirius expired, Adds additional stations not otherwise available. Crystal clear. Music quality far above Sirius. Was going to renew Sirius, but after discovering HD radio, think not.

My first suggestion would be to make sure you have updated to the latest version of the SYNC 3. You can do this by connecting WIFI and updating the software in the settings

The trouble with using Apple Car Play, when you plug in, it takes over the gorgeous screen. It also takes away the Nav, and replaces it with IPhone Nav. Not a good option for those that value the Sync 3 features.

Ford Pass is a joke with the model trucks below the top tier XLT without the embedded modem. None of the features described are available but it can connect you with your dealership service department to schedule maintenance through your phone. and when the app is running from your phone tell you how much gas you had when you were last in your car/truck. You can't start/stop lock/unlock remotely from your phone even if you install the Ford Factory Alarm with remote start.
