This works flawless on my SYNC3.4 (Build 21194). I installed some (but not all) of the F-Mods as well. One minor observation - the mod called "Enhanced Top Bar" is not (yet) compatible with my version of SYNC3. The video player is awesome! Now to rip some MP4s!

When I go into FORSCAN and successfully link it to my truck there is no APIM RESET function. Only APIM REBOOT. Do you have any suggestions?

Hello, I’m having an issue. I did the jail break then did the daemon and when I try to do the mods tools I get an abort message and says I need utserviceutility. Instructions on fmods says to download a synce package and pull that file and drag it to syncmymods folder. I can’t seem to find a sync3 package. Any help with sending me the file I need?

Shut the truck off at subway the other day and came back out and started the truck and it asked me if I wanted to update auto and send info to sync I hit no then my back ground went back to blue n silver in the day …. Now everytime I turn the truck off and back on it ask me this question and the screen goes back to blue even if I change it … idk what happened I had a black theme and custom background perfectly for over a year or more no issues .. maybe it auto updated some how?

Hi, thanks for the vid. I can not get this to work... Installing the first stick does not open a window or dialog on forscan. My laptop just makes a notification sound to let me know a USB has been plugged in. The sound keeps happening if I leave the USB in. When prompted to shut of engine, do I do that or just click the yes button. You are on a bench so this wasn't explained. When trying stick 2, do you start your engine first? FORscan prompts me to turn aux on but do not start engine... Again, not the same on a bench.

Is there a way to change it from the stupid blue color on night mode With the sync 3.4 to the 3.3 sync that I had before after doing my update. Now it's that stupid blue color at night, instead of it being black & white, like I had it before the update was done i like the black & white night mode better than the mode That's on there now.

Hey there! If you want, you can do it either way... I've got a video coming out tomorrow morning showing you how to update and keep your jailbreak. Obviously the easier method would be to update and then jailbreak. FORScan will automatically reboot Sync 3, you don't really need to do an ignition cycle which will help save some time.

This is awesome! Thanks for the video! Could the reboot be done without Forscan, via the Seek Up (a.k.a Next Track) and power button reset? I understand getting the timing right may be more difficult, just wondering if it's possible though.

This is a good question but honestly I don't think so... timing really has to be spot on for this method to work. Pretty much this method is using a vulnerability in QNX to sneak in the thing that allows everything to get unsigned, allowing the Daemon and Mods Tools to be installed.

It can be done by cutting power also such as pulling a fuse or battery, but for the cost of a cheap ELM327 adapter it's really better to just do that :)

So somebody in the CyanLabs discord was able to make this happen but had to start pressing before putting the USB in. Probably very hard to get the timing perfect using this method

So long as you already have a laptop or any computer near your car that's able to run forscan, it's worth having. The cable I bought was the more expensive one at about $60. There was actually a cheaper one. If I remember it was $30-$40. Forscan itself was free unless you want the beta and even that was $12. I don't know if beta was necessary for this mod. I already have beta because I needed to reprogram the tcm. If you own a newer Ford or Lincoln and do any of your own work Forscan and the cable are absolutely worth it. It will pay for itself as soon as you encounter an issue.

Hiya Brian, would you happen to know to fix Sync 4 Apims black screen? seems to be common. at ford theres some values that need to be changed before doing updates and if they are not done the update seems to kill the picture output. there are vids saying volume down & forward button for 10 seconds but its beyond that. forscan still reads & edits apim as per usual. apparently module update does nothing. thanks

They show how easy it is for the regular radios to be set but not this monstrosity. Sync is my only issue with this tiny vehicle.

@NaviUpgrade I have the Vgate Vlinker FS USB windows version. It is switch less. Would this work to do the hack? I have used this adapter to set Bambi mode and global windows up and down on my 2016 Ford Escape Titanium. Everytime someone says it has to be a switchable adapter I kinda get freaked out. So am I correct in saying I can use this Vgate Vlinker FS adapter to do anything a switched adapter can do? I hope my questions are not to confusing.

@naviupgrade I have a new to me 2017 MKZ with a recently upgrade to 3.version installed. I had fmods on my explorer and worked the first time to install it and worked great thereafter. However, on this radio, there is no APIM Module as far as I can see. Any suggestions to do the install? I can reset the Radio with the power button and skip forward button but the software fails to install Suggestions as to why there is no APIM Module? I know these radios do in fact have an APIM attached to the back of the screen.

I finally find the error infor here . My 2018 focus with Sync3.0.20204 one day the Navi show me "Navigation is not functioning properly". Hello, New subscriber. I have a question. I have a 2015 Mustang GT with sync 3 system. Originally had a sync2 but upgraded. I just recently installed 3.4 using cyan labs syn 3 updater. By doing this does it jailbreak my sync3? Also do I have to jailbreak my sync3 with 3.4 to install wallpapers?

So to my understanding to the only way to watch a video or anything of the sort is to have it downloaded on a usb drive and keep the drive plugged in? Hey Ronnie! So yeah the only way to watch videos as of right now is via a USB flash drive. Unfortunately somebody would need to make some sort of Android Auto clone that allows video in motion. There are a few out there on Android Auto (not sure of CarPlay to be frank). If you're on Android Auto check out AAStore and CarTube

Let me check with the guys at FMODS, but I believe it does... the module I used in the custom backgrounds video was from late 2019 and came with Sync 3.4. Let me round about with them to see.

I went through the steps. One thing that did happen with my installation was that it froze on the dameon install screen. It finally restarted, I put the 3rd USB in, and I disconnected from forscan. How do I know the installation was successful?

Okay so I was able to get a far as USB #2 to install but then I can't get #3 to install it says it recognize the stick but didn't index it etc just sits wtf am I missing does it take quite awhile for last stick to load up and what are you supposed to do with forscan when it says to turn car off then back on etc while the usbs are doing there thing any help would be great I've been trying this for weeks here and their and I have to turn my tune off each time I'm just pissed it's so close but no dice. Everything works in my sync 3 update, except my Siriusxm travel. how do I restore it? no information shows up.

Had no luck installing. Got the first 2 flash drives to install. But the 3rd one would never do anything. It would tell me Damon installers already installed but then I would do the third USB drive and it would give me another error saying it can't find a certain file I redownloaded the files. Still no luck. I noticed that they were extracting those files inside of another file, so I moved those files out of that file so they're on the route of The drive but still no luck either way

What if you already have version 3.4 and will this allow you to play video files and not just hear the audio from the video files on a USB drive

Hello there while syncing and updateing apim i pit usb in car it started and finished really quckly and there was written update complited and u can remove the usb. and i removed it.. then suddenly display went black. after that it has no reactio. on any action.. csn u guys please help me ? how can i figure it out how can i finish it or re instal old version

Hey Brian, I have a question I have a 2020 Ranger with sync 3.4 already installed. How should I perform the jailbreak? I'm not sure if I should do it as it's under 3.0 or as if I'm updating it to 3.4? Thank you, Hope you can help!

Can you let me know after you did the jailbreak if you can still use your ford app on your cellphone to remote start your truck or the other feature on the app?

You can do it either way. Doesn't matter if it's on Sync 3 v3.0 or 3.4, we have another video on the reformat tool if you do it on 3.0 and want to keep your jailbreak when updating to 3.4

@@NaviUpgrade Thank you I'll let you know when gets done. I was hoping to be able to perform the reset with our ford ids but I guess you can't reset it with that as the tech told me. So I have to order the cable to do it.
