Thank You So Much for this Video! I purchased my 16 Fusion SE 2 years ago and was in constant battle with the dealership while under warranty that I could not use my GPS. Unfortunately it was not a Ford dealership that I purchased the vehicle from, and the dealership I did purchase from kept directing to Ford to repair. Two years without using this feature on my car, and I took a chance purchased the SD Card from Amazon the price Ford has is ridiculous, and searched how to update my SYNC SYSTEM I finally landed on your Video, and you made this such a breeze! Just a heads up, I know this is an older video. But doesn't matter if your stick is 1TB if you don't see the Fat32 because stick is too big, as long as you partition it using disk management within Windows you can partition smaller sizes for the option to appear :)

Absolutely perfect! The Ford site doesn’t explain that the zip has to be extracted to the root, and not to the desktop. It won’t transfer and gives an error each time. Took 15-20 mins to fully install and no issues. Great vid 👏🏽🙏🏽

@@dailymoments6882 downloading it to my computer, then extracting it to the root folder, and then trying to drag the extracted files to the formatted thumb drive wouldn’t work. Would always get an error when trying to copy. So download and saved to my thumb drive, and then extracted it in the thumb drive, and then deleted the zipped folder. Ran on auto install the min I put it in my truck.

Super easy video to follow! The longest file to upload was file 4 for my 2014 Ford Flex. Took about 10minutes for that one alone. Be patient and Trust the process, it works!

I rarely post comments but you sir are an absolute legend. Updated my Sync 2 in 25 minutes. Not only it fixed the issue of pairing Bluetooth automatically to my phone but also seems to have fixed the minor static noise with the radio unit (hopefully, need time to verify if that actually fixed it). Now I'll try to add navigation and cross my fingers. Already got the ELM327 connector & the Ford A10 Maps SD card.

Oh my gosh, you are a hero to me. After multiple failed attempts following the Ford site instructions I found your video and successfully upgraded on the FIRST TRY from a Sync v2 to Sync v3 on my 2017 Ford Explorer. Now, on to upgrading my mapping software, which is what started this whole debacle.

I used to have a 2015 Ford Escape SE with that small screen. It was okay when I had the vehicle till it broke down a little bit over 2 months. I got a 2020 Ford Escape SE. It has Sync 3 in it. I even loved the Apple Car Play. It was so easy to do w/o using the manual for the vehicle. It was a big upgrade for me.

I got an upgrade kit from Amazon. The SDCard upgrade went from 10 to 14. I plugged it in & it worked. I didn't use the USB STICK,but it works. Would using that enhance the system at all?

I had not heard that but I see you are correct: media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2017/05/19/ford-sync-3-software-update-apple-android-2016-vehicles.html The firmware should be on the site we show. If you don't see it under SYNC 2, click the SYNC3 option and see if it is there. Otherwise I would just call the Ford help line. Thanks Son.

Alas, my dashboard shows an error when trying to get the update. (it does show an update available), but I get "WE APOLOGIZE FOR THE ERROR. WE ARE WORKING TO CORRECT IT AND REQUEST YOU TRY AGAIN LATER." -- Several years I got notified by Ford (via snail mail) that my vehicle's sync could no longer be updated. And I've seen and taken pictures of the screen two times that they have pushed an update since then. I don't see a way to check the exact version of the software I'm running.

Yes we found a patch for the navigation on a forum and that fixed it immediately. Even twice at the Ford dealer couldn’t fix it.

It will not add nav, if you don't have it already, but it will update the maps and system if you do. If you do not have navigation, it will update the other components of the infotainment system. Thanks for checking in Brandon

Hi William. The SD card will still be required. The download that you put onto your USB stick includes updated maps and so there is nothing else for you to do after the upgrade it applied.

It appears I have Sync1. I purchased a 2012 Ford Focus SEL and according to the Ford website I have Sync1 version 3.1.4.c and upgrade available listed as 4.6 I just checked and it does indeed say Sync! last update 7/19/12. So using this upgrade will work with Sync1?

You didn’t update to Sync generation 3 or Sync 3. All you did was update it to the latest build of sync 2. I don’t think it is possible to upgrade from Sync 2 to Sync 3 without completely screwing up your vehicle
